Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, April 6th, 2026.
Here's this happening today in America.
He is found. Times running out.
Save college sports and the dark side of the moon.
It's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day.
But first, U.S. Special Forces rescued the second crew member from a downed F-15E fighter jet in Iran.
after a heavy firefight, our military successfully extracted both airmen and all rescue personnel
from the country.
The pilot of the F-15E had been rescued hours after the jet was downed Thursday night.
This was our Thursday night, Friday, their time, in southwest Iran.
The second crew member remained missing for more than 24 hours.
The president wrote in the middle of the night on Saturday night, we got him.
My fellow Americans over the past several hours, the United States military pulled off one of the
most daring search and rescue operations in U.S. history for one of our incredible crew member
of fish officers, who also happens to be a highly respected colonel, and who I'm thrilled to let you know
is now safe and sound. This brave warrior was behind enemy lines and the treacherous mountains of
Iran being hunted down by our enemies who were getting closer and closer by the hour, but was
never truly alone because his commander-in-chief, secretary of war, chairman of the joint chiefs
and fellow warfighters were monitoring his location 24 hours a day and diligently planning for his
rescue. Another Iran news, the president said, remember, when I gave Iran 10 days to make a deal or open
the Hormuz straight, times running out 24 hours before all hell will rain down on them. Glory be to God.
He then wrote Tuesday. We'll be power plant day and bridge day, all wrapped into one. There will be nothing
like it. Open the F word straight, you crazy, P word, or you'll be living in hell. Just watch. Praise be
to Allah. Slightly less dramatic news, the president signed an executive order to save college sports.
This order directs that students can transfer once during a five-year period with immediate
playing eligibility after the transfer, and then one additional such time if the student-athlete
obtains a four-year degree. This was met with positive comments from the commissioners of at
least the Big Ten, the Big 12, and the ACC.
Artemis II has hit their two-thirds mark on their moon journey.
On Easter, the Artemis two crew snapped a photo of Earth appearing stitty-bitty tiny.
This is just ahead of their lunar flyby today.
NASA posted the picture that said one last look at Earth before we reach the moon.
While on the other side of the moon, Earth is going to vanish from the spacecraft's view for 40 minutes,
creating a communications blackout and leaving the...
the crew in an ellipse-like darkness.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Monday, here is a very provocative question.
the United States tough enough to confront evil. As you know, my best-selling book, Confronting Evil,
takes you to all the conflicts we've had, wiping out people like Hitler. And we didn't wipe out,
Mao. He kind of just petered at himself. Stalin, same thing. But throughout history, the United States
has been in the forefront of dealing with evil, confronting it. That's why the name of the book,
Okay. So do we have that now? Do we have that verve, as a word of the day, V-E-R-V-E?
I don't think we do. I think we're soft. This Iran thing is an eye-opener.
We're not willing, as a collective people, to pay more for gasoline. We'd rather have the mullas get a nuke than for us to pay more as a gasmone.
I mean, what does that tell you? Now, I know a lot of...
A lot of people don't believe Donald Trump, but the evidence is overwhelming that Iran very
close to developing a nuke, and it's incontrovertible evidence, not just in the USA, it's from
the UN and weapons inspectors and all that.
And all we're asking for is the right for weapons inspectors to go into Iran and see
what the deuce is going on.
Well, we don't want to pay the price for that.
That's disturbing to me.
I'm Bill O'Reilly.

Donald, Bill, and the price of a barrel of oil goes up, who gets the money?
The oil producers and the oil distributors get the money.
A lot of money.
It's a private industry.
Kevin McDaniel, Las Vegas, any deal with Iran should never allow the theocracy to remain in power.
Also post-conflict oil shipments from Iran should include a fee per barrel collected by the USA.
So therefore, Kevin, you want this war to continue forever because Iran's not going to agree to that.
So it would just be forever.
Cause a whirl-ride depression.
You know, you got to stay in a real war.
world. David, concierge member. Bill, your explanation of why Democrats were withholding funding
for TSA is spot on. Fortunately, the Republican Party is doing a terrible job of explaining this.
Messaging in the Republican Party is weak and in the White House. It's weak.
Corinda Lundy, Morris Plains, New Jersey.
Bill, can you explain the Democrats' position they have agreed to fund various
areas of Homeland Security, but claim the Republicans are holding it up. What exactly are they
fighting over? We did this yesterday, Clarenda. I know you can't watch every program. It's essentially
the Democratic Party wants to destroy ICE. They don't want immigration enforcement.
Charles Robinson, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Mr. O'Reilly, how was the Vietnam War illegal,
did in the Gulf of Tonkin resolution authorized President Johnson to repel the Vietnamese.
Golf of Tonkin a resolution was based on a false premise.
Okay.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know.
On this day in 1917, the USA declared war on Germany.
19 months later, one of the worst conflicts in human history was finally over.
After years of brutal combat, 9 million people were dead, 21 million wounded, a continent obliterated.
Here is the story of World War I.
In the early 20th century, peace in Europe was achieved through a series of diplomatic alliances.
Political instability in the Balkans threatened those agreements.
On June 28, 1914, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated.
Then all hell broke loose.
Austria declared war on Serbia.
Russia and France declared war on Austria.
Germany declared war on France.
England declared war on Germany.
On April 6th, 1917, the USA entered the conflict after a German torpedo sank an English passenger ship, the Lusitania.
Twelve hundred civilians, mostly American and British citizens, were killed.
For the next year, European Union,
slaughtered each other by the millions. Soldiers who were massacred from air, land, and sea.
Chemical weapons rained down on the troops. At least 100,000 soldiers were gassed to death.
By the fall of 1918, the central powers led by Germany and Austria were unraffling.
The warring parties then signed the Treaty of Versailles in 1919.
officially ending the conflict. However, that agreement would lead directly to the rise of the
Nazi party a few years later, and another global catastrophe, just 20 years later. And here's
something else you might not know. Some of the most influential people to have fought in World
War I include Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tuller.
Wilkins, Ernest Hemingway, Humphrey Bogart, Buster Keaton, Harry Truman, and the actor who played
Dracula, Bella Legosi. Back in a moment. Thank you for listening to the O'Reilly update.
