Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday. April 9th, 2026, here's this happening today in America, removing uranium.
Open the straight, splash down tomorrow, and L.A. Olympic ticket sales open. That's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the president said the United States will work with Iran to remove their enriched uranium from the destroyed sites.
That came from Operation Midnight Hammer last June.
The president said there will be no enrichment of uranium,
and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried,
B2 bombers, nuclear dust.
There are three sites that we bombed back in June.
If people are worried that Iran is working overtime to get enriching,
the president said that has not happened.
He said it is now and has been under very exacting satellite surveillance.
Space Force.
nothing has been touched from the date of the attack.
The price of oil dropped to $95 when the president decided not to attack
and it was announced that Iran wants a deal.
We'll see if they follow through and completely open up the strait.
There were reports of Iran closing the strait after Israel bombed to Lebanon.
Caroline Levitt, the White House spokesperson, said if this is true, then it's completely
unacceptable for Iran to close the strait because of what Israel did in Lebanon.
She said this is the case of what they're saying publicly is different privately.
We have seen an uptick in traffic in the strait today.
And I will reiterate the president's expectation and demand that the Strait of Hormuz is reopened immediately, quickly, and safely.
That is his expectation.
Netanyahu said the ceasefire agreement between American Iran doesn't apply to Lebanon.
And he said Israel will keep striking the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorists there.
Artemis 2 set to splash down on Friday.
The expected splashdown is 8.07 p.m. Eastern, right off the coast of San Diego.
Artemis II's recovery criteria require winds below 28.7 miles per hour, wave heights under six feet,
and no rain or lightning within 30 nautical miles.
They chose San Diego because of the natural trajectory of the spacecraft.
Also San Diego's home of the USS John P. Murtha, with Navy divers and helicopters and medical support.
And the weather is often quite nice.
On re-entry, the spacecraft will reach 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
That's half of the temperature of the surface of the sun.
But inside, just get to a little bit toasty 110.
The first round of the lottery, which allows you to buy tickets to the L.A. Summer Olympics in 2028 were released yesterday.
People had a chance to buy tickets, but they were shined at the price.
The decathlon finals, $1,600 a ticket, and a 24% surcharge.
closing ceremonies, cheapest seats, five grand.

Financial stress is hitting an all-time high.
Millions of Americans are stretched thin with no extra money, no room to breathe.
And this isn't just lower-income households.
Middle-class families are also running out of options.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Thursday, as we predicted,
President Trump is extending negotiations
with Iran for two weeks.
On April 6, I said, quote, the president reiterated that the end of Tuesday tomorrow,
if he doesn't have some kind of deal with Iran that involves nukes,
that he'll bomb their electrical grid, take them out.
They won't have any communications.
I believe that might be extended.
The Tuesday deadline might be extended.
So I nailed it.
Why? Because I spoke with President Trump. I know what's going on in there. I'm not bragging. That's my job as a reporter.
As part of the deal that was made, Iran will now be involved with Hormuz, but will not control it.
Negotiations are supposed to begin in Pakistan on Saturday.
Now, the reason all of this is happening is that Donald Trump did not want to kill civilians in Iran.
I had a long discussion with him about that.
He wanted a deal.
The Iranians are almost impossible to deal with, and this whole thing could fall apart.
There's no doubt about it.
If it does, Mr. Trump will go back to his threat.
to annihilate that country.
So that's where we are.
Back in a moment.
I'm Bill O'Reilly.
I approve the message by writing it.
You can reach me.

Name in town, if you wish to opine.
Let's get to the mail.
We got David Langston, Paducah, Kentucky.
Bill, help me understand something.
President Trump says,
we've destroyed Iran's Air Force and Navy.
Why do they still control the Straits of Hormuz?
Well, I dealt with that today.
David and drones are drones.
You can't get them all, but they got most of them.
Jordan Butes, St. Albert,
I'm sorry, St. Albert, Canada.
It's in Alberta, all right.
So providence in the West.
Jordan asks, you shouldn't be surprised
lack cooperation with the Iranian war,
the Bushes, Obama, and Clinton were able to build coalitions.
President Trump has not done this, maybe because of his hubris.
Perhaps to be littling allies was not prudent.
There's something to that.
There's something to that.
It's a lot easier for if you kiss somebody's butt to make a deal, to put it one way.
Jerry Axton, Buckeye, Arizona, considering the partnership in support of other countries today, should the USA only protect itself.
Can't do it.
Can't live in a world this complicated with all the trade and everything by being an isolationist.
Jason Vose, Katori, Japan.
Mr. O, there are two things I'd like to say.
Number one, Japan cannot afford to help America in Iran.
If Japan lent one or two destroyers, it would be leaving itself open at possible Chinese
attack for which the United States protects Japan by our base in Okinawa.
So don't give me that, Jason.
Number one, they got plenty of money over there.
Number two, they can help us out.
Number three, they should.
In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might, not know.
63 years ago today, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill became the first honorary citizen of the United States.
Title was given for Churchill's role in World War II and defense of democracy in Europe.
Here is the story.
After defeating the Nazis, Churchill became very popular.
in the USA. In 1963, Congress passed a resolution to grant the Englishman honorary U.S. citizenship.
The ceremony took place in the White House on April 9th. Said President J.F.K. at the time,
quote, we meet to honor a man whose honor requires no meeting, for he is the most honored and
honorable man to walk the stage of human.
history in a time in which we live."
Well, due to his advanced age, Winston Churchill watched by a satellite from London, while
his son Randolph and grandson Winston S. Churchill accepted the citizenship in his name.
Throughout our 250-year history, just eight people have been given honorary citizenship, most
after they died.
It remains the highest award given to a foreign national.
The list includes Churchill, Raul Wallenberg, a Swedish businessman who saved thousands
of Jews during the Holocaust.
Pennsylvania founders William and Hannah Penn, Mother Teresa, Revolutionary War heroes
Marquis de Lafayette, Kashmir Pulaski, Bernardo de Galvez.
Here's something else you might not know.
Honorary citizenship is completely symbolic, has no legal standing whatsoever.
Those given a title have no right to move or live in the USA.
Their relatives cannot use the status to obtain green cards or visas.
Today, movements exist to give more foreign nationals the honor for their contribution to America's freedom.
Top of the list, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
