Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It's Monday, August 12th, 2024.
Here's this happening today in America.
Stolen valor.
Start with a million Ukraine in Russia and the next Olympics.
That's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message today.
But first, Tim Walls' former military superior told CNN that Walls abandoned the unit
by going around him to leave the National Guard before his team went to Iraq.
This former superior said Walls in the whole unit, including my boss, commander and the command team
had multiple meetings to discuss deployment months before Walls sought retirement.
However, he told CNN that he found out Walls quit without telling him he got permission to retire from a higher level officer, which is a break in protocol, according to this superior.
He said Tim Walls knew the process and the procedures.
He went around me and above and beyond me.
Basically went in there to get somebody to back him.
It was a whole backdoor process.
On the other VP side, J.D. Vance made the rounds this weekend on the media shows.
He said Trump's deportation plans are going to start with a million people.
Vance said, we have to start with the fact that we have to start with.
of a wide open southern border because our borders are said a lot of open border policies.
The ABC news anchor said, you're going to knock on doors and ask people for their papers.
And Vance said, this is the wrong attitude towards it, right?
There's 20 million people here illegally.
You start with what's achievable.
President Trump's absolutely right.
You cannot have a border unless you're willing to deport some people.
I think it's interesting that people focus on.
Well, how do you deport 18 million people?
Well, let's start with one million.
That's where Kamala Harris has failed, and we can go from there.
the president of ukraine has admitted that troops are fighting ukrainian troops are fighting inside
russia there's another escalation we were told that u.s weapons were going to be used inside
russia but only in one specific location then we were told that our weapons would be used in
other locations in russia and now we have ukrainian soldiers fighting in russia just another
step forward the olympics are over the next winter olympics are in italy and the next summer
games are in los angeles the wacky mayor of los angeles karen bass vowed to make our olympics a
Car-free Olympics, only public transportation to every Olympic venue.
These people are really going to screw it up.
In the final medal count, we tied China with 40 gold medals.
Japan was third with 20.
Overall, we had 126.
China had 91.
France had 64.
It is the most medals we've ever won in an Olympics outside of the United States.
We've only won more when we hosted Los Angeles in 84 and St. Louis in 1904.
I'm Mike Slater.
Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day.

Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress.
National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets.
And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Monday, we have legitimized extremism in America.
Now, it's always been here.
The Ku Klux Klan had to be beaten down by federal forces.
U.S. Grant was behind that.
But now, because of cyberspace, because of the devices, because of irresponsible companies,
we have extremism being disguised as normalcy.
If you go on the Internet websites, you can find the most vile, hateful stuff in the world.
And some Americans, don't ask me why, believe this stuff.
But even in the mainstream media, the corporate media, we have hateful things on display every day.
Now, MSNBC is the best example of this.
That is owned by Comcast, which owns NBC News, and NBC News produces MSNBC.
If you watch that channel, you will get a steady stream of,
America is evil. The United States has always been bigoted. Blacks don't have a chance.
Minorities don't have a chance. White patriarchy is ruining our country. Day in, day out,
nonstop. What are you doing, NBC? I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.
You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com.
Bill O'Reilly.com, name in town, if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail.
Bill Horton, Roseburg, Oregon, my wife and I are new to the no-spin news, but we watch every
evening now. What should we do and what are you doing considering your investment wealth if
Harris wins in November? I'm not going to do anything until I see how it all shakes out.
The danger is that Congress would go Democrat, giving Harris a free field for two years to absolutely wreck the United States economy, which she would.
So if that happens, then I'm going to huddle and, you know, that's all I can tell.
You've got to wait.
Can't do anything now.
That might come back at you.
Karen Krenkuli, Floral Park, New Jersey, Florham Park.
Florham Park.
I have a friend that said Trump wants to eliminate Medicare.
I never heard that, but she said she read it.
Can you confirm?
You gotta stay away from this stuff.
If the friend who told you that, who's desperately wrong,
you always say, where did you see that?
Precisely, exactly where did you see it?
Then you tell me, and I can do something about that.
80% of what you see on the internet is propaganda or worse.
Donna Jason, Port Washington, New York on Long Island.
Thank you Bill for revealing a truth about Mercedes-Benz and her ties to Hitler.
Years ago, my husband and I saw a secretly taped documentary in which Nazis living in Argentina
or asked how they were surviving financially.
They said Mercedes supports us.
That's not true.
I wrote Killing the SS.
We know everything about the Nazis who escaped to South America.
who escaped to South America, Mercedes was never involved with that. They were involved with the
war machine that Hitler established up to here, and they largely got away with it. In a moment,
something you might not know.

64 years ago today,
one of the most memorable summer songs of all time,
hit number one on the Billboard chart.
The artist Brian Hyland, the song, Itsy Bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow polka dot bikini.
Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore.
It was an itsy, bitty, teeny, weedy, yellow polka dot bikini that she wore for the first time of the day.
And it's see, busy, teeny, weeny, yellow polka-dadi-kini, so in the locker she wanted to sing.
Two, three, four, stick around, we'll tell you more.
Well, Brian Island had some good company on the charts.
Here are the top ten songs of the week from August 12th, 1960.
Number 10, image of a girl by the safaris.
Nine Mission Bill, Donny Brooks.
A finger-popping time.
Hank Ballard and the Midnighters.
Number seven, Volare, Bobby Rydell.
Six, only the lonely, Roy Orbitson.
Great tune.
Five, I'm sorry, Brenda Lee, four,
Chubby Checker with the Twist.
And the top three starts with Walk, Don't Run,
by the Ventures, excellent instrumental.
Number two, it's now or never,
by Elvis with the Jordanair.
And the number one hit for the next three weeks was that bikini song.
And here's something else you might not know.
The Jordanaires are very interesting.
They started out as a gospel quartet from Missouri.
The group formed in 1948 and were tapped by Elvis to perform vocal tracks from 56 to 1970.
The Jordanaires also appear on records by Johnny Cash and Patsy Klein.
The group remains one of the most successful and relatively obscure bands of all time.
They have worked with 2,000 artists and appeared on more than 10,000 singles.
In early videos of Elvis Presley, you can see the Jordanaires rocking in the background.
Very fascinating.
Back after this.
Power, politics and the people behind the headlines.
