Thank you, Bill.
It's Wednesday, August 14th, 2024.
Here's what happening today in America.
alphabet split 24 days and counting stores struggling and most expensive car ever it's all coming up then bill's going to be here with your message of today but first the justice department is considering declaring google a monopoly this would be the first attempt to break up a monopoly company since the failed attempt to split up microsoft in 2001 the government has other options to pursue but this option would require the government to split off the android mobile operational
rating system and Google's Chrome web browser from Alphabet.
We are now 24 days in counting without Kamala answering any questions from the press,
as if they would ask a difficult question anyway.
Time Magazine asks for an interview.
She said, no, they still ran a glowing cover story about her.
One of the best clips of the year happened yesterday.
Caitlin Collins from CNN was on Colbert's late show.
And Colbert said, with a straight face, I know you guys are objective over there that you just
report the news as it is. And the crowd started bursting out laughing. And the CNN anchor said,
was that supposed to be a laugh line? And Colbert said it wasn't supposed to be. Some economic
markers, Home Depot, lowered its sales expectations for the year. It said customers were spending
less on home improvement projects because of high interest rates and concerns that the economy is getting
worse. Home Depot's sales dropped 3.6% last quarter and it expects sales at stores to fall between
3 and 4% this year compared to last year. Big Lots is closing more than 300 locations across the
U.S. It's about 25% of their stores saying their futures in substantial doubt. They blame
consumers cutting back on spending. Blink Fitness has 100 locations they file for bankruptcy. Ride
already closed 520 of their stores after they declared bankruptcy, but they decided to shut down
an additional 27 stores. On the other end of the economic spectrum, a Mercedes-Benz is headed to
auction, how much do you think it's expected to go for?
What do you think a very expensive car?
What do you think that goes for these days?
It's expected to get between $50 and $70 million.
It's going to be sold by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
They're selling 11 cars that they say are not connected to the Indianapolis 500.
The most expensive car ever sold was in 2022, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR coop, for $142 million.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Wednesday, as a summer of no love
winds down, some Americans are terrified by the upcoming presidential election. Simply put,
the loathing factor may be at an all-time high. Conservatives rightly,
believe that Kamala Harris will attempt to drag the country into the European model where a big
government doles out what's good for you and your personal outlook be damned. Individual freedom
is not compatible with a colossal government. On the other side, the anti-Trump crew hates him
beyond all reason. That feeling, of course, is driven by a corporate media, which is now in business,
to destroy the former president.
The situation is dividing families, causing depression, ruining summer vacations.
For me, I see the November vote as a defining moment in our history.
When you read confronting the presidents, which will be out in a few weeks,
it will become clear that crisis elections have been held before.
and the American voter always did the right thing.
But this time, there is doubt.
Not for me.
I well understand the danger from California, Kamala.
But I also know the mistakes Donald Trump,
who should win the election handily, is making.
Thus, there is no love in politics right now.
It's not far out.
is not groovy. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me.

Let's go to the mail. We got Drew Lyon, Wickenberg, Arizona. Washington and other cities are
planning to let illegals vote in city elections. How can we put a stop to this? It's a felony
to do that. So, Drew, if you have any proof,
facts that any city is allowing undocumented migrants to vote, you need to send it to me immediately.
I suspect you do not. I suspect you picked this up on a website. It is a felony for an illegal
alien to vote. Now, it doesn't say it doesn't happen, but it cannot be sanctioned or the person
sanctioning it in any state will be arrested. Ralph Alby, Littleton, Colorado outside of Denver,
what happened to the $42 million in bail money that Kamala Harris raised for criminals involved
in the George Floyd riots? Well, it went to the organization that was bailing them out.
That's what happened to it. Once you make a private donation to a private concern, any concern,
they can use that money whenever they want to use it for. Government was involved. That was a private
thing. Elaine Chamber is Rome, Georgia. Neither candidate has addressed a homeless issue. Your thoughts,
please, O'Reilly. Well, my thought is that it's a local issue. Why would the federal government
address it? Homelessness is local. So in the state of California, the federal courts have ruled
that all states have the power to regulate homelessness on public property. They can't go on
private property. I'm arrested immediately for trespassment. But on public property, that's
taxpayer-owned property. Of course, they down. They can't camp out there. And the states, it's
and cities can just move them on out.
They don't want to move out.
They get detained.
You detain a drug addict,
they're not going to like that.
So you see a homeless encampment?
It's the fault of the city or county.
Not the federal government.
In a moment, something you might not know.
