Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Tuesday, August 25th, 2026. Here's this happening today in America. New tariffs on Canada. Ice arrests in sanctuary cities. Forty-niners owner busted and men deemed ineligible. It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the president said he will impose tariffs on Canadian-made cars and auto parts.

In January, this is after the president imposed a 50% tariff on other Canadian goods that went into effect just this last Saturday. The new tariffs account for $20 billion of the $382 billion with the products that Americans bought from Canada last year. And it's tons of different things from dog leashes to fake mustaches. It's a list of 500 items, plywood, tissue paper, dairy, alcohol, 500 seemingly random products. The president said on trade. and in other ways also they are among the worst nations in the world to deal with. They feel entitled. And yet we don't need Canada, they need us.

Ice agents have arrested 1,328 illegal aliens across the sanctuary states of Maryland and Virginia in just the last two weeks. Some were members of MS-13, the 18th Street, or Trende Aragua gangs. ICE arrested sexual assailants, kidnappers, drunk drivers, robbers. One of these illegals, Igar, Wilfredo Hueso Moran, of El Salvador was wanted for murder in Richmond, Virginia. Another, Achenel Pierre from Haiti, was wanted for attempted murder. Other criminals from Guatemala, Jamaica, El Salvador, Mexico, all here illegally.

The owner of the San Francisco 49ers, Jed York, was arrested this weekend in Ohio. He was originally charged with engaging in prostitution, but prosecutors amended that to disorderly conduct. He pled no contest, which means he doesn't. He's guilty, but he's not going to fight the charges. He posted a $5,000 bond, was sent it to two days in jail, fined $1,150. York took over day-to-day control of the 49ers from his parents in 2008. He's been the team's principal owner since 2024.

He was arrested for trying to pay $140 for services. He was arrested in an Ohio trailer park. He responded to an ad on a website, but it wasn't a prostitute. It was a sting operation. He's married with two sons. His family has a net worth of $8.5 billion. Two men have been deemed ineligible for the WMBA draft because they're not W's, their M's.

The league said, Ines Cantor Freedom and Roy Swight are not eligible to play in the WMBA. But they didn't say why. Why not let him play? If men hold no distinct advantage over women, let the men play. I'm Mike Slater for the podcast. Politics by Faith. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day.

Just before the Iran confrontation, I said that the action would be the biggest gamble Donald Trump has ever taken in his entire life. The president actually did the right thing in trying to break Iran's terror and nuke activities. But you will never hear that from Mr. Trump's detractors. The massive problem with the Iranian action is the unintended consequences that have bolstered the Democratic Party. Americans do not like the rise in retail prices.

The mullahs well understand the economic problems, and that is their chief weapon. Inflict pain on the American consumer and the worldwide financial market. place. That strategy should have been war-gamed out by the Pentagon before the USA hit Iran last winter. Apparently it was not. Today, few countries in the world are supporting the action against Iran. The USA and Trump stand mostly alone with Israel. Now, my recent book is confronting evil. On the cover is Hitler and the Ayatollah Khomeini, as well as Putin and Mao. heinous killers all. Ninety-six years ago today, a baby boy was born in Scotland. By his 30th birthday, he will be known around the world for his portrayal of the fictional British spy, James Bond. Here is the story of Sean Connery. born August 25th, 1930 in Edinburgh, young Sean was raised in very humble conditions. His mother was a cleaning woman. His father drove a truck. At the age of 16, Connery joined the Royal Navy but was quickly discharged on medical grounds because he suffered nervous ulcers. For pocket change, young Sean began acting at local theaters. He soon landed. some major roles in Oxford and London. Connery was then cast in the movies as Secret Agent

James Bond, a popular character created by British novelist Ian Fleming. The first film, Dr. No, debuted in October 1962. I admire your luck, Mr. Bond. James Bond. The movie was a huge hit all over the world. Connery portrayed Bond six more times. He retired the Tuxedo in 1983. The Scott remained one of the most popular actors in the world for another 40 years. He appeared in Hollywood's biggest blockbusters, including The Untouchables, Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones, and The Rock. For his contribution to British culture, shunned.

Connery was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in the year 2000. Sir Sean retired from acting 10 years later. He died at his home in the Bahamas on Halloween, 2020, at the age of 90.
