Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday, August 27th, 2026. Here's what happening. Today in America, Meta Settlement, Nepal disaster, injunction removed, and the secret song. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. First, Meta came to an agreement with 29 states.

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, that's meta. They will give 16. $17.7 billion to these 29 states over 10 years. And they will make some changes to their apps like nighttime blocks for the teenage accounts from midnight to 6 a.m. Also some stricter age assurance measures, two hour a day limitations except for their messaging apps. Meta will also pause notifications during school hours and also from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

No public displays of like or comment counts and restrictions on cosmetic surgery image filter. Now before you get too excited or you think that big tech companies are finally in your corner, teenagers can override all of these rules with parental approval. Teenagers accounts are linked to their parents' accounts. And in the parent account, you can just turn these controls off, which I'm sure many kids will figure out how to do. My episode of Politics by Faith today is about this topic and my argument for why we should have zero screen time and social media time for kids. But it's got to come from the parents, not from big tech.

horrific flash flooding in Nepal. Hundreds reported missing. These numbers will climb. At least 47 missing American tourists. At least 403-4 nationals from all over the world are missing. It's believed that this was caused by a landslide or an ice and rock avalanche from a Himalation glacier. The debris blocked a river, which then released this sudden surge of water. The post office issued rules for mail-in ballots.

A couple different rules, but the big one is that every mail-in ballot has to have a barcode so we can trace every ballot. Well, a judge put an injunction on these rules. And then the Supreme Court came back and said, nope, can't do that. The states don't yet have standing. The judge reluctantly removed the injunction. She wasn't going to. The post office said they were going to bring this to the appeals court to force her to remove it,

but she finally did. Beautiful Dolly Parton tributes continue to come in. lots of tributes at her Brentwood, Tennessee home, and also at Dollywood. Now, at Hollywood, there's a small box. Inside this box is a CD player and a cassette player, which contains one song. No one's ever heard it. And it can't be opened until her 100th birthday. The song is called My Place in History.

On this Thursday, I'm thinking about the situation in Iran, as I often do, because it is hurting our country. Apparently, the Iranian president, a secular guy, not a mullah, who represents a civilian government, and a parliamentary leader, and also a secular guy, want to end the conflict with the United States because it's destroying Iran's economy. Is that true? Impossible to verify.

What I do know is that these two men say anything publicly about ending the war, their lives will be in danger. Here are the facts. Inflation in Iran 90%. Their money is worth nothing. One million jobs have been lost there. The Persians are beginning to starve. And that's the U.S. strategy. Make it impossible for the Iranian society to even function.

That's why President Trump is waiting. Meantime, the fanatics in Tehran are offering a $10 million bounty to kill Baron Trump. Is that a good strategy? I don't believe so. Now, I don't understand how any. in the world can have any sympathy for the zealots in Tehran. But some do. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Hey, Bill, keep up the good fight. One thing our conflict with Iran does, it proves to the world, how unstable and evil that country's leadership really is. If you don't know that by now, I mean, come on, what? 30, 40 years? Orlando, New Brunfeld's taxes in the hill country. Please disagree with you, Bill, on President Trump not being able to do anything. Of course he will. By executive order, he can still get quite a bit done.

If they lose the midterms, the executive orders will not be permanent, but he can get stuff done. It'll be diminished because every executive order he signs will be challenged immediately in the courts. And then he's going to have to spend a lot of time spending off impeachments and all this other nonsense. Not what you want. Not what you want.

K.J. Rush, Williamsburg, Virginia, seems to me where it's in actions of the DSA, the Socialists, clearly fall under the definitions of sedition, subversion, and major treason. No. You have a right to be a socialist or campaign as a socialist, and it's a First Amendment right. So that's just the way it is. Henry, I wouldn't be so confident that most folks understand what's at stake

in the Democratic Republican brawl. I'm not confident in anything. My job is to inform. If the folks don't understand what's happening, it's on them. Now, my fault, I can't be any more clear than I am. I can't do any more than I'm doing. If they don't get it, they don't get it. And maybe 50% don't get it.

18 years ago today, a Democratic senator from Illinois accepted his party's nomination for President of the United States. The convention ended one of the most contentious primaries in American history. Here is the story behind the rise of Barack Obama. Born in Hawaii, young Barry was raised by his mother and, and maternal grandparents. He began his political career as a community organizer in Chicago after graduating from Columbia and then Harvard Law.

Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 1996. He rocketed to national fame in 2004 after delivering the Keystone address at the Democratic Party's convention. Later that year, he was elected to the United United States Senate with 70% of the vote. His tenure in Congress was not very long. In 2007, Barack Obama announced his presidential campaign running against frontrunner Hillary Clinton. Obama used his oratory skills, opposition to the Iraq War, while presenting

himself as a moderate. At the time, he opposed gay marriage, supported border security. By the summer of 2008, Mr. Obama had successfully vanquished Hillary Clinton, much to her dismay. On August 28th, the senator addressed the American people from Denver, Colorado. There, he vowed to defeat John McCain and, quote, defend the American promise. America, we cannot turn back. We cannot walk alone at this moment. In this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future.

Let us keep that promise, that American promise. And in the words of scripture, hold firmly without wavering to the hope that we confess.
