Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Friday, August 4th, 2023. Here's this happening today in America.
Trump arraigned, sailors arrested, hero dad, and hero grandma.
It's all coming up. Then Bill will be here with your message today.
But first, Donald Trump departed New Jersey on his private jet to Washington, D.C. to get arraigned for the third time.
Trump responded to the latest indictment saying the Dems don't want to run against me
or they would not be doing this unprecedented weaponization of justice.
But soon in 2024, it will be our turn.
He has another indictment coming in Atlanta where the Fulton County Sheriff said they will mugshot him.
No one's taken a mugshot of Trump because the point of a mugshot is so that everyone
knows what this person looks like.
We all know what Trump looks like.
Also worth noting that the first Republican debate is less than three weeks away,
August 23rd in Milwaukee, and Trump has shown no sign that he will be there.
Two Navy sailors arrested for giving information to China, two separate incidents.
Jin Chow Wei, 22-year-old on the San Diego-based USS Essex, charged with espionage
and conspiracy to send national defense information to Chinese officials.
He gave photographs and videos of the ship he served on, included tentacle and mechanical
manuals and details about the training that Marines were doing for an upcoming exercise.
Another sailor, Wen Heng Zao, was charged with the same thing.
He was sending operational plans for a U.S. military exercise in the Indo-Pacific region
to a Chinese spy.
What in the world?
How often does this happen?
I will always share stories of heroism when I come across them.
In New Jersey, three children were drowning in a river, 13, 11, and 8, and their 42-year-old.
father ran in to save them. He was able to get them to shallow water, but he was swept away.
His body was found three hours later. Terrible story, but when dads save the lives of children like
that, what can be more commendable? In other hero news, an 87-year-old woman was woken up in the
middle of the night to find a man standing above her with no shirt on and said, I'm going to cut you.
the 87 year old says she jumped out of bed picked up a chair which she used as a shield he kept knocking me against the wall he put a bruise on my forehead one of my cheek she says she kept fighting back until quote he got tired of that and then she asked him if he was hungry so she fed him and she talked about how she used to be a teacher and talked all about her childhood and she called 911 as he was eating police arrived just as he was finishing up the equally quick thinking bill o'reilly
with your message of the day. Next.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update,
message of the day.
As you know by now,
Jack Smith charged Donald Trump
with four counts of January 6th crimes,
alleged crimes,
and basically conspiracy,
saying that Trump knew he was making false statements
about the election of 2020
and did it anyway.
That's going to be almost impossible to prove for Smith,
but it doesn't really matter.
He just wants to get it out there.
All right, whether he wins in court or not, secondary.
All right, just keep pounding Trump in the Republican Party.
Now, obviously, Trump's defense will be that he did believe, and does to this day, that the election was rigged.
And his lawyers are going to bring in investigations in states like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, to show the jury, if it ever gets there, that there will,
lot of questions about that vote. And the states took it seriously and launched their own
investigations. That's a powerful defense for the Trump people. But again, Jack Smith doesn't
care. He loses, he loses. So what? You'd have to prove criminal intent. And this is what
Smith alleges that Trump knew the election was legitimate, but said it was phony anyway,
to blow everything up. Okay? That's going to be pretty damn hard to prove.
with one exception, Mike Pence, the former vice president.
If Pence testifies, and remember his testimony will be in print on discovery,
that Trump knew the elector thing replacing electors in certain states,
having Pence not certify the election,
if Pence comes in and says,
the president knew that was phony but did it anyway,
that's huge. Pence may do it. I don't know. I don't know. But whoever interviews Pence from now on
has got to ask him that question. Pence is the only thing that I believe could convict Donald Trump
in this January 6th stuff. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me.

Now let's go to the mail.
Richard D. Donato, as a former social studies teacher, I find your information that you provide in your columns and notes have been broadcasts.
Give us a clear view of history that is being made today when the public does not find the FBI and the Justice Department out of the control and bias is truly troubling.
Again, they don't want to know. They don't want to know. And you can't do anything about that.
Randy McCoy, Dallas, Texas, agree it would be a disaster if Trump showed up for the debate this month.
I hope the other participants will tell us what they would do if elected.
Yeah, I mean, Trump is very unpredictable, but I don't think he's going to show.
I could be wrong, though.
Just guessing on that.
Kevin Ryan, Scottsdale, Arizona, if Biden is the nominee, I don't believe he will be, however.
I surmise that he will refuse to debate Trump.
Biden's not debating anybody.
Okay?
It's not happening.
Trump would love to go up against Biden, but it's not going to happen.
Eileen and Jim Morrow love the shows, The Nostman News, on YouTube.
I know we're all over YouTube.
Can you explain to my husband and I how George Soros is able to contribute so much money to different politicians?
Because he can contribute unlimited amounts of money to political action committees, which he does.
There's no law constraining that.
The Supreme Court made a ruling.
You can give as much money as you want to do.
any political action committee in the United States. In a moment, something you might not know.

Sixty two years ago today, Barack Obama, born in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He returned to Hawaii to live with his grandparents in 1971.

Mr. and Ms. Obama have returned to their lives as private citizens after the inauguration
of Donald Trump in January 2017.
Today, the Obama's write books produced documentaries for Netflix and
promote charities for education. They have three very large mansions and are building a fourth.
Ain't capitalism great? I interviewed Barack Obama three times. Here's a clip from the 2014
Super Bowl chat. We've got to make sure that we're doing everything we can to expand the middle
class and work hard and people who are working hard can get into the middle class.
I know you think maybe we haven't been fair, but I think your heart is in the right place.
Prediction for the game. Who's going to win a Super Bowl?
I can't make a prediction. I don't know. These guys are too evenly matched.
I think it is going to be 24, 21, but I don't know who's going to be 24 and I don't know who's going to be 21.
Mr. President, thanks very much.
I enjoyed it. Thank you.
For the record, the President was wrong about the game. It was a blowout win for the Seattle Seahawks over the Denver Broncos, 43 to 8.
that Barack Obama is not a bad man. Others, of course, disagree with that. But I had a fairly
respectful relationship, both sides, and I was happy to be able to do those interviews.
