Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It's Wednesday, December 11th, 2024.
Here's what's happening today in America, not backing down.
business optimism up, Mitch McConnell falls, and Task Force report. That's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the New York Attorney General
will continue to pursue a $455 million civil fraud judgment against Donald Trump. The Attorney General
Latisha James said the fact that just because Donald Trump will now be the president doesn't
change anything because president, she says, do not have immunity from civil litigation. This is
the scam trial where they claimed that Trump inflated his net worth to secure better loan
terms. The National Federation of Independent Business reported that its small business
optimism index increased by eight points, the largest single increase of business optimism
on record. The group's chief economist said the election results signaled a major shift in
economic policy leading to a surge in optimism among small business owners. The outlook for
business conditions in the coming months, went up by 41 points.
Again, the largest monthly jump since this group began collecting data in 1986.
The current Senate Republican leader, who will not be for long, but Mitch McConnell
fell during a Senate Republican lunch yesterday.
He's 82.
The last time he fell was March of 2023 at a DC hotel.
He was out of the Senate for six weeks with a concussion and fractured rib.
He announced he's stepping down from his leadership position.
John Thune is taken over.
He will still remain a senator until his term is officially over in 2026.
It's worth noting that the good people of Kentucky recently changed how they would fill a vacancy
if Mitch McConnell did decide to step aside.
Instead of letting the Democrat governor fill that seat, there would be a special election.
So good on Kentucky for getting in front of that.
The task force on the attempted assassination of Donald Trump released its final report,
a five-month investigation.
They said the various failures,
in planning, execution, and leadership, and the pre-existing conditions that undermined
the effectiveness of the human and material assets deployed that day, coalesced to create
an environment in which the former president was in grave danger.
Josh Hawley, Senator from Missouri, recently revealed that whistleblowers claim that most of
the agents who were assigned to Trump's Butler rally were DHS personnel who had only
undergone a short online training session.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Wednesday, the proposed pardons for the rioters who invaded the U.S. Capitol almost five years ago
can work both for and against President Trump, depending on how he handles the complex situation.
The fact that all of those prosecuted were ardent Trump supporters brings an emotional component to Mr. Trump's decision.
It's tough to let the legal bus roll over folks who love you.
But justice is also in play here.
The country simply cannot allow political violence.
Most intelligent folks understand that.
Therefore, no blanket presidential pardon should be issued.
Instead, here's the fair way to decide the fates of more than 1,500 individuals charged in this situation.
Have the new Attorney General set up a panel of three well-respected judges to review each case separately and make recommendations.
Then follow the consensus of the judges unless extraordinary circumstances are present.
That would take politics out of it and put precise reasons.
reasoning into it. Who could object to that? The testimony is already on the record, so the
process should move quickly. President Trump, of course, has the power to override the judge's
decisions. I hope this happens. It is the right way to handle it. It is justice. I'm Bill O'Reilly.
I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at
Bill O'Reilly.com, name in town, if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. We got to Bill
Howell, Sedalia, Missouri. O'Reilly, write again, as usual, Daniel Penny found not guilty.
Wasn't hard. It wasn't hard at all, because I still have faith in the folks. And you say,
well, what about the Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump. Yes, you are correct. That was wrong.
Those juries were not looking at the case dispassionately, which means they didn't take the emotion out of the case.
They didn't.
Because what Trump did was Picayune, word of the day, all right?
And they slapped them with all this stuff.
But you're right.
But in a criminal trial, when the jury has to face the same danger that Daniel Penny and his people on that subway car had to face,
It was danger. They're real danger.
Carl Riley, dropped the O way back, Smithfield, Illinois.
I've got a question about Hunter Brown's pardon.
Can anyone rescind a presidential pardon?
No.
Okay?
So Hunter, unless they come up with a state beef against him, it's a state beef.
He did something bad in California or in Delaware, wherever.
then the partner doesn't cover that. Just federal crimes. Phil, concierge member, thank you, Phil.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know.
Six years ago today, Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer verbally brawled
over the president's proposed border wall.
Trump's order was immediately blocked
by Democrats in Congress and eventually the courts.
The situation then spiraled out of control
under President Biden.
Here is the story.
During his 16 campaign, Donald Trump pledged
to build a wall between the USA and Mexico
to stop the massive illegal immigration.
After budget talks fell apart,
Mr. Trump issued proclamation
9844, also known as the national emergency concerning the southern border of the United States.
The order diverted $8 billion to construct the wall. California and 16 other states then sued the White
House. The order was stymied by litigation until the inauguration of Joe Biden. On its first day in
office, the 46th president issued his own proclamation called the termination of the emergency
along the southern border.
That decision was catastrophic.
In 2020, 400,000 people breached the border.
In 21, that figure exploded to 1.6 million, then 2.2.
Last year, 2.5 million.
It is estimated that during the Biden administration, up to 12 million foreign nationals
have breached the southern border entering the United States.
Between 2019 and today, the amount of fentanyl sees in Texas has tripled.
The number of child sex slaves has also increased 300%.
The broken border damaged the Democrats on Election Day.
According to Gallup, a third of the electorate ranks illegal immigration
as the greatest threat to national security, more than terrorist,
and climate change combined. 80% say the federal government is doing a bad job
handling the migrant situation. To this day, Joe Biden has never explained why he
embraces an open border. And here's something else you might not know. Since Biden's
inauguration, immigration has become so bad that the courts are full of lawsuits
top to bottom. And the total number of legal immigrants in this country is unknown because of all the
chaos. Back after this. Hey, I'm Caitlin Becker, the host of the New York Postcast, and I've got
