It's all coming up, and Bill's going to be here with the message of the day. But first, two U.S. Navy pilots ejected safely over the Red Sea after their fighter jet was hit by a guided missile cruiser hours, the USS Gettysburg. There's been no explanation given as to how one of our guided missile cruisers could have mistaken one of our jets for an enemy aircraft or. missile, but Central Command said that warships and aircraft earlier shot down multiple huthy drones and an anti-ship cruise missile launched out of Yemen. NYPD has arrested a suspect who lit a woman on fire in the New York City subway yesterday
Starting point is 00:01:18 morning. 7.30 in the morning, the suspect lit her on fire. Police believed the woman was sleeping and he used a lighter and somehow the woman was engulfed in seconds. officers responded to the scene, put out the fire, and pronounced the woman dead, and the officers didn't notice that the suspect was sitting on a bench on the platform, just a few feet away from the woman who was on fire and he was just sitting there watching it. A five-day strike against Starbucks has expanded now to nine states, Missouri, New Jersey, New York,
Starting point is 00:01:52 Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, California, Illinois. But don't worry, it's not all. all the Starbucks. This union represents 10,000 workers at 525 stores. This strike has affected just 30 stores nationwide so far. The union has said the strike could reach hundreds of stores by Christmas Eve, but Starbucks has 10,000 company stores and 200,000 employees. The company's average pay is above $18 an hour, but combined with benefits, the company says they're paying over $30 an hour for baristas who work at least 20 hours a week. Park Resort in Colorado, the gondola broke down. Gondola the enclosed ski lift.
Starting point is 00:02:34 174 skiers were stranded. It started at 1215. Evacuations began at 1 and it took until 6 p.m. to get everyone off. People were stuck 50 feet in the air. There's a video of a rope that was thrown up to a gondola, which was secured and a person strapped themselves into the other side of the rope and they were lowered down. All guests who were trapped got two lift passes for next year and a $10 voucher. That doesn't seem like enough. I'm Mike Slater. Bill O'Reilly has your message today. Next. On this one day, this is the last message of the day from me, your humble correspondent,
Starting point is 00:04:22 O'Reilly because we're off for Christmas and then for New Year's. We all need a break around this time of the year. I in particular have worked very hard, but I believe most Americans are in my circumstance. It's tough for many of us to make a living this cycle in history because it's so complicated. There's so many things going on. Prices are so high that we got to scramble. So when Christmas time rolls around, the logical thing to do is just decompressed, take it easy, and I'm going to do that. I got a little travel, and I'll tell you about that on Monday, the 6th of January, when we return. Shouldn't be too onerous if the planes can get off the ground, going to some very nice places. It's a mixture of work and leisure.
Starting point is 00:05:19 I'm not a big kind of do-nothing guy, as you probably know, if you followed me over my career. In January, I will mark 50 years as a journalist, getting paid as a journalist. In college, I was writing columns, but 50 years, can you believe it? They said it wouldn't last. But anyway, look, I want you all to have a very, very nice Christmas, Hanukkah. don't get crazy on New Year's Eve. That never works out. But enjoy yourself. Have a few laughs, watch some games, and love your family. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to
Starting point is 00:06:08 opine. Now let's go to the mail. Michael Hanson Billings, Montana, is my understanding that Trump will be able to automatically deport illegal immigrants who have committed a crime. Yes or no? He can deport them after a hearing. Aren't all illegal aliens committing crime by being here illegally? No, it's a civil violation which has to change. It's a civil violation across the border or overstay a visa. That's got to change.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Congress has got to put punitive measures on that. It's one of the problems. Pierre Rodriguez, Quebec, Canada. Bill, you say Biden is insulting and arrogant. Okay, but why wouldn't you say the same about Trump when he insults Canadians by talking about our country being the 51st state? All right, that's insulting, but it's not at the same level as failing to explain why drones are all over the place. But I see your point, Pierre. I wouldn't have done that if I were president.
Starting point is 00:07:14 if I were President Trump. Tim, when I imagine going through what Trump has gone through, I know I would have folded. The guy's tough. You bet. He's tough. And read the United States of Trump. This is a tough guy.
Starting point is 00:07:31 No question about it. All right, let's go to Dave, concierge member, Dave. I hope you're liking it. You know what's sad? People who wish Trump doesn't succeed. There's a lot of them. I know. But there are people when Biden was elected
Starting point is 00:07:51 who didn't want him to succeed either. That'd be fair. In a moment, something you might not know. Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. Every week, I'll sit down for candid conversations with Washington's most powerful disruptors, lawmakers, lawmakers, and even the president of the United States.

Now, the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. Christmas, less than two days away. The man whose birth is memorialized remains the most important person to ever live on Earth. And that man was a poor stone cutter from a tiny hamlet in a backwater province of Judea. Yet the theology he created still dominates the world 2,000 years later.
Starting point is 00:09:10 my 2013 book killing Jesus chronicles the history of the Nazarene it is not a religious book and here are some historical facts the persecution of Jesus began well before he was even born fearing a messiah would arrive herod the half jewish half arab king of judea ordered his army to kill every male child under the age of two Mary and Joseph left Nazareth, their hometown, for Bethlehem to get a census count, and there Jesus was born. The family then had a head to Egypt, which is present-day Gaza, for their own safety. There, the young Nazarene learns the family business, stone-cutting and masonry. At the age of 30, Jesus abandons his craft and begins to preach. He travels by foot, delivering a message of salvation.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Eventually, the Nazarene attracts thousands of people to hear him speak. But, of course, they can't hear him because there were no microphones. But the crowds are noticed by the Jews and the Romans, and he becomes a threat to the establishment. As his followers grow, so does the ire of the authorities. Jesus was eventually betrayed by one of his disciples, taken before the temple leaders first, who demanded his execution. Fearing an open revolt, Roman ruler, Pontius Pilate, agreed to the execution. Unlike religious texts, killing Jesus is not based on the Bible, but actual correspondence
Starting point is 00:11:05 between Roman soldiers dispatched to spy on Jesus. My book debuted at number one on the New York Times list. Remained there for 52 weeks. It's well worth reading.
