Bill O'Reilly here.
You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It is Wednesday, February 1st, 2023.
Here's what's happening today in America.
You're going to have to pay for your own vaccine from now on.
Ukraine gets a rare no.
Profits for two American giants and profits for Bernie Sanders.
That's all coming up.
And then Bill will be here with the message of the day.
but first, the White House announced they will finally end the national COVID emergency on May 11th.
But what will change when the national emergency ends?
Well, the big one is you're going to have to start paying for COVID tests, treatments, and vaccines.
Because the federal government won't pay for them anymore, Pfizer said the vaccines will cost between $82 and $130 a dose.
That's four times where the federal government pays for them for some reason.
The Republicans say May 11th is not fast enough to end this.
state of emergency.
They proposed two bills.
The Pandemic is Overact and the Freedom for Healthcare Workers Act.
The pandemic is over act passed on party lines.
The other one that would end the vaccine requirement for federal health care workers
that passed on party lines, but seven Democrats joining the Republicans.
Joe Biden told the president of Ukraine he will not be sending F-16s joining England
and Germany, all ruling out, sending fighter jets.
But we said the same thing about our surface-to-air missiles and
We said the same thing about our tanks, and we ended up sending all of those.
Stay tuned.
McDonald's posted high profits last quarter.
They say as inflation went up, more people made more visits to McDonald's than usual.
So where someone might have made a trip to a full-service restaurant, they went to McDonald's instead.
McDonald's plans on building 400 new locations in America this year.
That's the largest expansion since 2014.
But one of their big competitors now might be Costco, the hot dog and soda at Costco.
the combo? It's been $1.50 since the 80s somehow. The famous story is the CEO asked the co-founder
if he could raise the price of the hot dog combo. And the co-founder said, if you raise the price of
the hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out. Now, Walmart-owned Sam's Club has undercut the
Costco hot dog price. Their hot dog combo is not a buck 50. It's now $1.38. Pinching your
pennies. All 12 of them. But we need every penny we can get. Exxon Mobil.
Their previous record profits back in 2008 was $45 billion.
They just announced last year's profits $56 billion.
So here come the socialists to take what they call excess profits.
Too much.
You have too much profits.
And speaking of socialists, Bernie Sanders has a new book out,
and he is hosting a launch event in D.C.
The book is called It's Okay to Be Angry About Capitalism.
And you can buy your ticket on ticketmaster for $95 a piece, comrades.
I'm Mike Slater, Bill, with your message of the day.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
There are about 68 million baby boomers roaming around the USA right now.
Most of them aging rapidly.
From 1946 to 64, boomers dominated the USA being born in staggering numbers, especially right after World War II.
when marriage and families rule.
I am happy to be a boomer because I've seen modern history unfold right before my eyes
with television and today the Internet.
I mean, think about it.
In 1910, there wasn't much going on.
Life was hard.
Outdoor relief houses, anyone?
However, I will admit that many baby boomers have caught the entitlement virus
and believe they should be exempt from life's challenges, like getting old.
This might be why Madonna has turned her face into a creamsickle.
Aging is part of the journey, as Boomer Dr. Phil might say, which is why I don't listen to him.
I want reality, not wisdom from a fortune cookie.
So here is some reality.
senior citizens are smarter than their kids and grandkids because they've been through it.
If boomers stopped thinking about themselves morning tonight, they might volunteer to help people out.
Use their remaining time not going to the spa three days a week, but improving the country a little.
I understand Jane Fonda looks good thanks to those long ago workout tapes, but come on, there are three dreaded words, old, older coffin.
So use your time wisely.

Shane Bakely, Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
I was a 24-year veteran police officer.
My question is the Memphis Police Department must be full of
corruption and have very little oversight. For those officers to beat someone like that tells me
that wasn't the first time they did it and they believe they could get away with it. I can't
disagree. And of course the American haters, the progressives, taint every police officer. The same brush
as those five. Gordon Belair, Lowville, New York. Shame on those cops who assaulted Tyree. My sympathy
goes to his family. It also goes to the family of the cops.
because they're going to pay a price for years to come.
You bet, you know, if you're going to do something horrendous,
you've got to think of your family because they're going to be hurt by that.
Fortibus, this is not a training issue, it's a character issue.
Bottom line, if one can't control, his or her emotions,
they have no business working in law enforcement.
Right on.
And there are very little emotional training.
So a lot of the agencies don't know, they know what the people did prior.
The police training I think in general is okay, but you don't know the emotional profile.
Jerry, these guys all knew what they were doing as a video clearly shows, but figured they'd get away with it because they were cops.
This happens too much.
It happened to me personally by a cop of the badge that he considered a bully's license.
I say 10, 12% of cops are bad, maybe more, but probably not, mirrors the population.
In a moment, something you might not know.

you might not know.
41 years ago today,
a new television program debuted on NBC
at 1235 in the morning.
The hour-long broadcast was
hosted by a former weatherman, featured two guests and one musical performance. Late
Night with David Letterman had arrived. Here is the story. Beginning in 1969, Dave worked as a meteorologist
in Indianapolis near his hometown. He moved to Los Angeles in 1975 and soon became a regular
on Mary Tyler Moore's Variety Show. His sarcastic humor caught the attention of Scouts.
for Johnny Carson.
Dave quickly became a Tonight Show favorite and was soon named Carson's official guest host.
NBC launched a morning program, the David Letterman show in 1980, but it bombed.
However, executives believed the comedian would appeal to late-night viewers.
So, Late Night with David Letterman debuted on February 1st, 1982.
The first guest was Bill Murray, who would appear on the show more than 30 times.
When Johnny Carson retired, most viewers thought Letterman would get the gig.
But the network gave the job to Jay Leno and Dave quit NBC.
The late show with David Letterman ran on CBS from 1993 to 2015.
I was on that show 16 times, including just before Letterman.
departed.
Can I say something before?
Yes, please do.
Look, I'm going to miss you.
I'm going to miss you.
You know what?
Letterman and I, over the years, have sparred around, and we've had a little contention
in this and that, but he always had me back, I always got my say, and I'm happy to be on
here and to say you farewell, and I hope you do it really.
Very kind of you.
You've always been a great guest.
Thank you very much.
And here's something else you might not know.
In a 2017 interview, Dave Letterman said I was one of his best guests.
Quote, Bill O'Reilly, all I knew about him was that his ideology seemed counter to mind.
I was like having folks on that were not the mainstream.
Well, that's me.
Back after this.
Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines.
I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist, and the host.
