Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Friday, February 10th, 2023. Here's what's happening today in America. Mike Pence subpoenaed Biden's billionaire tax. The U.S. State Department is warning you to not travel here and who's favored to win the big game. It's all coming up and then Bill will be here with the message of the day. first former Vice President Mike Pence been subpoenaed by a special counsel to investigate Donald Trump's role in January 6th. The special counsel reportedly looking into how much Donald Trump pressured Mike Pence to refuse to certify the electoral college results, which of course Mike Pence ultimately did. Worth noting the timeline of the greatest attack on democracy since
Starting point is 00:00:49 the Civil War, the first person entered the Capitol building at 212, Mike Pence was removed from the Senate chamber at 2.13, and members of Congress returned to the capital at 7.13. So exactly five hours. Joe Biden proposed a billionaire's tax in a state of the union address, but many corporate leaders who backed Biden in 2020 say it's DOA. So this plan would require households with a net worth above $100 million to pay a minimum annual tax of 20% on both their taxable income and on unrealized gains of stocks, bonds, mutual fund, stuff like that. So right now you only pay capital gains on your profit when you sell it.
Starting point is 00:01:32 But under Biden's plan, you have to pay 20% on unrealized gains. That's ridiculous. But they'll get it eventually. The U.S. State Department issuing the strongest do not travel warning to six states inside Mexico due to threats of crime and kidnapping even at resort centers. Only two areas have the lowest level normal precautions designations. The other countries that have the highest level travel warning are Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Haiti, Ukraine, North Korea, and Syria, and Mexico. This isn't stopping everyone, though. Last year, 30 million Americans visited Mexico.
Starting point is 00:02:09 The Super Bowl is on Sunday. You know, the president has done an interview every year since 2009 during the Super Bowl, but Biden, it seems, is not going to do that. Trump in 2018 did not do it either. I think this is fine. Can we have one thing that's not political? Philadelphia Eagles versus Kansas City Chiefs kickoff Fox 630 Eastern from Phoenix. Fourth time the Super Bowl has been there. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are not the announcers.
Starting point is 00:02:34 They won over to ESPN Monday NFL Bowl. Joe Buck is called seven Super Bowls. The record is Al Michaels and Pat Summerall with 11. Travis Kelsey and Jason Kelsey, the first brothers on opposing teams at a Super Bowl. And the two quarterbacks are 27 and 24, youngest paired quarterbacks ever. Average ticket price, $10,000 a seat. Vegas has the Eagles. as a slight favorite.
Starting point is 00:02:57 I'm Mike Slater. Bill O'Reilly will be here with the message of the day. Next. Starting point is 00:03:38 The contrast this week between President Biden and Governor Huckabee Sanders is something patriotic Americans, meaning those who actually care about their country, should study. Both gave political speeches to the nation, but there was. no common ground at all. Mr. Biden believes his economic stewardship is benefiting the folks. The governor does not believe that, polling sides with the lady from Arkansas. But that doesn't seem to matter much to the president who showed absolutely no empathy for those struggling to pay the bills in this time of damaging inflation. Mr. Biden blames inflation on President Trump, even though the rate was a minuscule 1.4% went Trump left office in 2021. Since then, inflation has brutalized the poor and middle classes in the USA.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Governor Harkabee Sanders believes Joe Biden is being held captive by the far left, and there is ample evidence that is true. The president says he is a capitalist, but then demands a, quote, living wage for workers, a phrase right out of the Marxist handbook. And who would decide that living wage? Why, the government would. That socialism, and would absolutely wreck small business and badly damage many corporations. Layoffs would be substantial. No matter, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren demanded, so Mr. Biden complies. Captives have to comply, don't they?
Starting point is 00:05:17 I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Let's go to the mail. David, concierge member, David gets direct access to me.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I found the lack of decorum from some of the Republican, from some of the Republican members from last night's speech, insulting. Well, it's certainly okay to shake your head either nor yes to whatever is being said. Blurting out comments or insult during your speech is not a good look. okay elmer concierge member loved the republican defiance in the audience hilarious all right you know where i think come down on this uh alice the no spin news was the best summary and commentary on that terrible state of the union address yesterday we try we try robert pones sent anna California, the Biden speech was insane. The Democratic Party cannot understand that when you
Starting point is 00:06:18 tax corporations, we the people, will eventually pay the price. And that is true. It's a very good point, Robert. So yeah, it's a corporations, right? It goes right back to us. Bush-A. Finta, Beaumar, Colorado. Bill, you propose the USA be deliberate in dealing with China over the balloon based on the fact that it's a nuclear power. I wonder why you do not call for similar measure of caution against Russia's involvement in Ukraine. I did. I absolutely did.
Starting point is 00:06:50 And to this day, I say, don't send planes to Ukraine. Don't send jets there. We've been very deliberate. The United States has been very deliberate in the Ukrainian situation. Andrew, concierge member, the professor from Colton College, which is one of the most hard left liberal arts colleges in the world, is 100% wrong when he's. stated that Biden's China policy is as tough as President Trump's. It's a matter of opinion.
Starting point is 00:07:14 You know, I can tell you this. She feared Trump. She doesn't fear Biden. That's what I can tell you. In a moment, something you might not know. More than 90 million people tuned in to see Oprah
Starting point is 00:08:13 talk with Michael Jackson. Here is the story. Jackson, a private person, had refused interviews for 14 years. The unprecedented live event took place before any allegations were made against the singer regarding minors. During the 60-minute exchange, Michael Jackson talked about his troubled childhood, family relationships, fame, and his changing skin. I'm a black American. I'm proud to be a black American. I am proud of my race. I am proud of who I am. I have a lot of pride and who I am in dignity. That's like you wanted an oriental person to play you as a child. Does that make sense? No. So please people stop believing these horrifying stories. Okay, Michael. Then let's go to the thing that is most discussed about you, I think,
Starting point is 00:09:04 is the fact that the color of your skin is obviously different than it was when you were younger. And so I think it has caused a great deal of speculation and controversy as to what you have done or are doing. Are you bleaching your skin? And is your skin lighter because you don't like being black? Okay, number one, there, as I know of, there is no such thing as skin bleaching. I have never seen it. I don't know what it is. I used to have those products growing up I used to hear, always use bleach and glow, but you'd have to have about 300,000 gallons.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Okay, number one, this is the situation. I have a skin disorder that destroys the pigmentation of the skin is something that I cannot help. Now, shortly after the interview, Michael Jackson's life spiraled out of control. In August 1993, the Los Angeles police opened an investigation into Jackson's relationships with underage boys. allegations were levied against the performers for the next 10 years. In 2003, Jackson was arrested for child molestation. He was ultimately acquitted in court. On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson was discovered dead at his home in California at the age of 50. His personal physician was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter after administering the singer with a lethal dose of narcotics. Back after this. Power, politics and the people behind the headlines.
