Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the weekend edition of the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thanks, Bill. Here's what's happening this week in America. What a press conference. Oral arguments in the Supreme Court, Jets Clip. And there's a football game this weekend.
Starting point is 00:00:20 That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, that press conference last night. So August of 2022, the FBI busted down the doors of Mar-a-Lago, looking for classified documents. Then it turned out Joe Biden also had classified documents. Well, the report came back from Special Counsel Robert Hur, H-U-R, on Biden's classified documents and found that no criminal charges are warranted in this matter, even though they found
Starting point is 00:00:46 classified documents in what they described as a mangled box inside his garage in Delaware. And he also gave those classified documents to the ghostwriter for his memoir. But here's the problem for Joe. One of the reasons why the special counsel suggested not prosecuting Biden was because of his, quote, significantly limited memory. He said, we've also considered that at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to the jury as a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory. He did not remember even within several years when his son Beau died.
Starting point is 00:01:22 So Biden held a press conference last night trying to defend his mental acuity. It didn't go well. His lawyer shot back to the special counsel. We do not believe that the report's treatment of President Biden's memory is accurate or appropriate. So in short, the DOJ decided that Biden is not mentally fit enough to stand trial for mishandling classified documents, but he's fit enough to still be president. Also yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on the question of whether or not Trump is eligible to run for president under the 14th Amendment Clause 3. It seems to be pretty much consensus that all the justices were at least skeptical of Colorado's argument that he should be left off the ballot.
Starting point is 00:02:05 And there were some moments when the justice has really embarrassed the lawyer representing Colorado. Some predictions are this could be a nine-nothing decision in favor of Donald Trump. Two jet blue planes clipped their wings on the Boston runway, no injuries. But this has been happening way too frequently lately. just at Boston's airport. This happened in March and June. On my radio show, we talked about a years-long class action lawsuit claiming that the FAA has intentionally taken underqualified people
Starting point is 00:02:34 to be air traffic controllers in the name of diversity. There's a football game this weekend, 49ers versus the Chiefs, live from Las Vegas, halftime show Usher. Game starts at 6.30 Eastern, and you can watch it on CBS and Paramount Plus. I am Mike Slater. I hope you have a great weekend. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day. Next. We have legitimized extremism in America. Now, it's always been here.
Starting point is 00:04:14 The Ku Klux Klan had to be beaten down by federal forces. U.S. Grant was behind that. But now, because of cyberspace, because of the devices, because of irresponsible companies, we have extremism being disguised as normalcy. If you go on the Internet websites, you can find the most vile, hateful stuff in the world. And some Americans, don't ask me why, believe this stuff. But even in the mainstream media, the corporate media, we have hateful things on display every day. Now, MSNBC is the best example of this.
Starting point is 00:05:06 That is owned by Comcast, which owns NBC News, and NBC News produces MSNBC. If you watch that channel, you will get a steady stream of American. America is evil. The United States has always been bigoted. Blacks don't have a chance. Minorities don't have a chance. White patriarchy is ruining our country. Day in, day out, nonstop. What are you doing, NBC? I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly. Riley.com, name in town, if you wish to opine. Starting point is 00:06:16 Could you answer if Giuliani and the lady that was Trump lawyer who pleaded guilty in the Georgia election cases will be exonerated if Fannie Willis corruption blows up and gets taken down. No, once the case is adjudicated fully, and if you plead guilty, then it's adjudicated. Now, Giuliani, I believe, is appealing, but the other people who pled guilty in Georgia, that's it. Dale Slattery, Elburn, Illinois. Hey, Bill, excellent point regarding the use of analytics to determine human emotions when describing the Detroit's Lions loss. Analytics can be beneficial.
Starting point is 00:06:56 We're now replacing authenticity and human interaction with metrics. All aspects of our society are affected. True connection with others is a very rare commodity. Excellent Letterdale. The reason the Detroit Lions are not going to the Super Bowl is that their coach used a false strategy based upon a likely out there. come, took all the human emotion out. If you're up by two touchdowns and you add three more points, you're up by three scores. That's a surge of energy into the team. You don't gamble
Starting point is 00:07:33 with that. And he did. And he lost twice. Don Miller went in Nskill in New York. Love the Nostman News. My wife gave me premium membership for Christmas. It is the best gift I've received in years. My question, in researching Mayorkas, I was shocked. to find that some government attorneys earned salaries of 260,000 a year. Does that seem odd? No. No. Attorneys are well paid. You want their expertise. You got to pay them. In a moment, something you might not know. President George W. Bush defended the practice, claiming it was necessary to prevent future attacks against America. Here is a story behind waterboarding.
Starting point is 00:09:05 The technique was first developed in the 15th century and deployed during the Spanish Inquisition. To produce confessions, a prisoner was placed on a wooden plank with a cloth covering his face. Jars of water were slowly poured over the prisoner's head, inducing the sensation of drowning. The brutality was popular because it left no physical marks on the body. Waterboarding was used by the Japanese during World War II, then by the Viet Cong.
Starting point is 00:09:43 The technique was leader designated a form of torture by the United Nations. nations, the United Kingdom, and other organizations, but not the USA. After 9-11, Bush the Younger authorized the method on enemy combatants who were believed to have intel information. In early 2006, allegations of torture were reported by ABC News and the Wall Street Journal. On February 6, 2008, CIA Director Michael Hayden confirmed the use of waterboarding on three prisoners, all high-ranking members of al-Qaeda. President Bush defended his decision on Fox News. Whatever we have done was legal, and whatever decision I will make will be reviewed by the Justice Department to determine whether or not the legality is there. And the reason why
Starting point is 00:10:38 there's a difference between what happened in the past and the day, there's new law. And so, To answer your question, whatever we will do will be legal. And here's something else you might not know. Barack Obama banned enhanced interrogation in January 2009. Two years later, he authorized the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. Some of the intelligence used to locate bin Laden was obtained by waterboarding. Back after this.
