It's all coming up and Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, Donald Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin and he wrote on Truth Social. I just had a lengthy, highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. We both reflected on the great history of our nations and the fact that we fought so successfully together
Starting point is 00:01:09 in World War II. And we both agreed that we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the war with Russia, Ukraine. President Putin even used my very strong campaign motto of common sense. We both believe very strongly in it. He went on to say, we have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiating immediately. And we will begin by calling President Zelensky of Ukraine to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now. He ended with, I believe this effort will lead to a successful conclusion, hopefully soon. The Kremlin spokesperson released a statement saying President Trump spoke in favor of an early end of hostilities and a peaceful solution to the problem. Meanwhile, our Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegsef, told European officials in Brussels that any security guarantee, there will not be any U.S. troops deployed to Ukraine.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Hegset also said that NATO membership is not a realistic outcome for a negotiated settlement. and Hexeth said that Europe should provide the overwhelming share of lethal and non-lethal aid to Ukraine. He said we in America were focused on the threat from China and our own border, and European leaders need to take the lead in Ukraine. Donald Trump has been elected the new chairman of the board of the Kennedy Center. He said at my direction, we're going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., great again. I've decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the board of trustees, including the chairman, who do not share our vision for the golden age in arts and culture.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Well, the new members of the Port of Trustees voted for Donald Trump to be the new chairman. Trump told reporters, we're going to make sure that it's good and it's not going to be woke. Some of the shows have been terrible. It was a disgrace that they were even put on. We've been reporting on the $59 million that was given to New York City from FEMA for illegal aliens to stay in hotels. Well, four FEMA officials have been fired. And Christy Noam now said that the $59 million has been clawed back. The DHS spokesperson said there will not be a single penny spent.
Starting point is 00:03:01 that goes against the interest and safety of the American people. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame released their nominees. Artists are eligible for nomination 25 years after the release of their first recording. 1,200 people vote on these nominees, and if half of them think you should get in, you're in. Starting point is 00:04:00 Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Thursday, the most powerful Democrat in the country right now is Senator Chuck Schumer of New York. Age 74, he has served in the Senate for 26 years and is the minority leader. A few days ago, Schumer was caught on tape chanting, we're going to win over and over. Perplexing. Democrats lost, Chuck, didn't anyone tell you? The truth is that Mr. Schumer is foundering. He supported all of President Biden's disastrous policies.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Open border, Chuck was on board. D.E.I. Can't get enough. Massive spending, love it a lot. Surrender in Afghanistan. Bring it on. Massive regulations on fuel, right on far out. So Chuck Schumer has been on the wrong side of every issue, and we haven't even discussed. his hometown of New York City, where thousands of violent miscreants are running wild because the progressive administration refuses to punish them. So where is Chuck on that? Nowhere. That's where. He's a charter member of the Church Mouse Club, not to be confused with the Mouse Coteers, although, come to think of it, Chuck might try on those ears. Therefore, it is fascinating to hear the most powerful Democrat in the country,
Starting point is 00:05:31 yodel that he's winning. You're not Chuck. Thank God. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Name in town if you wish to opine. All right. Let's go to the mail. Alan Zekman in Philadelphia. Greetings, Bill. What would happen if the president just ignored the federal court rulings to freeze spending deport Venezuelans or fire federal workers. If a federal court rules that a president cannot do a certain thing and the president does it, then the president can be arrested.
Starting point is 00:06:11 That would throw the country into complete mayhem, constitutional crisis. Supreme Court would have to, of course, immediately step in, but you could arrest them. You got to obey the law, even if you're present. Gary Galawan, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Hello from Canada. I'm confused as to why Mr. Trump would sanction 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imported from Canada when one of the largest producers
Starting point is 00:06:39 is located in Hamilton, Ontario, and is an American company. Because that's microeconomics. President Trump's doing macroeconomics. It's very confusing. Anyway, macroeconomics is the overall picture. And Mr. Trump says, we are not getting fair treatment and trade from Canada. We need a new deal.
Starting point is 00:07:05 That's it. That's what he wants. He'll get it. The American company doesn't enter into it. It's the bigger picture. Juan, a concierge member, thank you, Juan, and if you have any problems at all, let us know, we'll help you out. I ask some of my liberal friends, and what I'm hearing is that it's not so much about
Starting point is 00:07:25 what President Trump is doing, but how he is doing it. The perception is that the process has been disorganized, sloppy, and confusing. Not confusing to me, Juan, I know what he's doing and why he's doing it. I don't know, why you're confused. Tell you liberal friends to watch the Newsman News. We sort it out every night.
Starting point is 00:07:49 It's not real confusing what he's doing. In a moment, something you might not Not no. This Mailchimp forific jingle is brought to you by MailChimp. Starting point is 00:08:43 Here is the story behind the execution of the Rosenbergs. New Yorker Julius Rosenberg joined the U.S. Army in 1940. Unknown to the military, he and his wife Ethel were members of the Communist Party. Her brother, Sergeant David Greenglass, worked as a machinist at the Manhattan Project, which was developing the atom bomb. In 1945, the Army accused the Rosenbergs of transferring nuclear secrets to the Soviet Union. The couple was charged with conspiracy to commit espionage and brought to trial in 1951, On March 29th, they were found guilty and sentenced to death. For two years, the Rosenberg case was appealed through the courts and before world opinion. Many believe the couple was targeted because of anti-Semitism. Others claim the charges were exaggerated to intimidate the public. In February 1953, the Pope asked President Eisenhower to commute the sentences to life in prison. Eisenhower refused.
Starting point is 00:09:51 He wanted to send a clear message to future spies. On June 19th, the couple was brought before the electric chair in New York Sing Sing Prison. 35-year-old Julius died immediately after the first shock. Then his body was removed. Ethel was placed on the device, but her execution was excruciating. She survived three bolts of electricity. Her body was removed, but doctors determined. and she was still alive. Immediately, Ethel Rosenberg was brought back to the electric chair
Starting point is 00:10:27 and given to more shocks. She died 30 minutes later at the age of 37. And here's something else you might not know. Archives released after the fall of the USSR show Julius Rosenberg was part of a communist spy ring. But evidence against his wife Ethel remains scant.
