Bill O'Reilly here Friday, February 14th, 2020, Valentine's Day.
You are listening to the O'Reilly Update.
Here's what's happening today in America.
With Iowa and New Hampshire in the rear view and 55 more primaries to go,
the search for the Democratic nominee for president remains muddled.
There was very little clarity coming out of New Hampshire.
Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg performed well. Amy Klobuchar gained some momentum.
Elizabeth Warren bombed. Joe Biden actually left the state on life support.
Andrew Yang dropped out of the race before the final votes were tallied,
saying he's a math guy and the numbers simply aren't there, but they are for Andrew himself.
Just hours after he dropped out, he put himself on the lecture circuit, 50 grand a pop.
Right now, Mayor Pete leads with 22 pledged delegates, followed by Sanders 21, Warren 8, Clobert
7, Biden, 6. Total needed to win the nomination for President 1,991. The remaining delegates are
spread out across 48 states, plus America and Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico,
Guam, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Democrats living abroad, who cast their ballots through the
mail. Next stop, Nevada, February 22nd, then South Carolina, February 29th, total of 90 delegates up for grabs
in those states. Joe Biden looking for a clear victory in South Carolina, a contest where black
voters represent the majority. Just three days later, the big one, Super Tuesday, March 3rd,
16 different contests across the country, totaling more than 1,300 delegates with California leading
the way 415. Current polling has Bernie Sanders on top out there, but that's in flux.
The biggest unknown for the Democrats, Mike Bloomberg. The former mayor's strategy of sitting
out the first four contests may pay off if Joe Biden quits. Because a big chunk of Biden's
support will then go to Bloomberg on Super Tuesday. Mayor Mike already spent 200 million in more than a
dozen states on advertisements. After March 3rd, it will still be unclear. We could be heading toward
a brokered convention in Milwaukee, the first since 1952. That would be something. Ahead. Some very
good Americans simply will not run for office. Why not? Right back. You've been hearing
about gold all over the news. Prices continue to climb. Not surprising, given all
the warnings of a recession and the uncertainty of the upcoming election.
Americans are looking for stability as a way to protect their savings in retirement.
That's why I recommend you consider gold and silver as a safe haven for your savings
in retirement.
The company I recommend in half a year is American Hartford Gold Group.
They are A-plus rated with the Better Business Bureau.
Also, they make it simple and easy for you to invest in physical gold and silver.
If you're listening right now, you get a free silver coin from my friends at American

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day.
There are some very fine people who have served this nation, as we all know.
The best president ever?
Abraham Lincoln.
But we the people have also seen bad folks holding power.
You can fill in the names here.
The truth is that some very smart, sincere, and honest Americans simply will not run for office because the downside is so intense. Let's take a look at that. First of all, our family concerns. If you run for office, you're going to be smeared. Everybody knows it. It's always happened. Going back to George Washington. So if you have kids, if you have a sensitive spouse, they're going to get hurt.
They're going to hear and see things that are unpleasant.
Family concerns very big.
Twitter has changed the entire political equation.
Now gutter snipes can sit in their homes with anonymous tags and just go to town on any person running for office or even who's famous.
They say vile things.
It gets out there. You know it. You know the game. It goes viral. That Twitter has really changed everything.
Then you have the corrupt press, especially on television. These days, as we have chronicled on the O'Reilly Update, the press is more interested in ideology and promoting certain candidates than reporting the truth.
So if you come down on the wrong side of your local newspaper or you're a national candidate,
you're going to get torn up. And then every day, as we go back to the family, your friends will see it.
Your family members will hear it. And that is a very big burden. Then there is the frustration with the
entire system. So if you run for Congress, you're one of hundreds sitting on Capitol Hill.
If you're a senator, you're more powerful, but still, there are so many rules that even if you
have a good idea, the chances are, you never get that good idea heard. A man named Mitch McConnell,
the Senate Majority Leader, can kill any piece of legislation he wants, no matter how good it is.
I saw that firsthand when I promoted Kate's law, and it passed in the House.
McConnell wouldn't put it up for a singular vote and never explained why.
And I'm not even an elected official.
I'm just a pundit.
Then, if you run for office, you have to have the personality for it.
You have to be outgoing.
Shy people, it's tough on the campaign trail for them.
That's why Hillary Clinton never got the presidency.
She was terrible on a campaign trail.
She is not an outgoing person.
You've got to be able to absorb punishment from people themselves one-on-one.
You can't lash out because everything you say will be recorded.
You've got to be detail-oriented.
Your staff, your bills, it can drive you crazy running for office because you're in charge.
So therefore, the field is very narrow when running for office these days.
The best candidates, don't do it.
I'm Bill O'Reilly, and I approve that message by writing it.

famous people who put their money to good use. Here's a look at some of the most charitable
celebrities. First up, Oprah, the talk show legend reportedly worth more than $3 billion,
