Bill O'Reilly here.
You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It's Friday, February 2nd, 2024.
Here's this happening today in America.
Is mom responsible?
Are illegal immigrants responsible?
Next level, fake news.
And how much for a Super Bowl ticket?
It's all coming up.
Then Bill, it's going to be here with your message today.
But first, a very interesting legal moment here.
There was a mass murder.
at a school in Michigan in 2021, a 15-year-old,
killed four of his fellow students with a handgun.
He was sentenced to life without parole plus 24 years.
But his mom is now on trial for her potential role,
four charges of involuntary manslaughter.
She says it was her husband who bought her son the gun
one day when she was out shopping.
She says her husband and her haven't talked
since they were arrested four days after the shooting back in 2021.
She said she was having an affair at the time,
that did not affect her parenting.
The claim is that she was grossly negligent in getting a gun for her son
and for failing to get him the proper mental health treatment despite warning signs.
She says, that's all in her husband, and I didn't even know he had any mental health problems.
Very interesting.
How much and to what extent should parents be responsible for their kids' mass murder sprees?
Speaking of responsibility, a bill passed Congress.
It says that if you're an illegal alien,
and you drive drunk, you're automatically eligible for deportation and permanently inadmissible.
The bill passed, 59 Democrats joined the Republicans, but 150 Democrats voted against the bill.
Another bill would deporting illegal immigrants if they commit Social Security fraud,
and 155 Democrats voted against that one.
I've said this for years now, and it's getting real now, get ready for artificial intelligence to really screw with elections.
A few weeks ago, there was that fake robocall using Joe Bolton.
Biden's voice. Well, in Slovakia, they have their election coming up, and a piece of audio came
out where one of the top candidates was talking about how he rigged the election. Turns out it
was fake. But there's no question this is going to be done here in America, and it will be very
convincing. And it could go both ways. Someone will make something that's fake, and the candidate will
deny it, or something really embarrassing will happen, and the candidate will say, oh, no, that didn't
happen. That was a fake. That was a deep fake. That was artificial intelligence. The big game coming
up on Sunday. I don't think I'm legally allowed to say the trademark name of the superb
basin that's coming up. The average ticket price. What do you think? $9,800. 70% more expensive
than last year. Just to get in the door, the lowest price ticket, $8,200. The quarterback for the
49ers could barely afford that. His salary, $870,000 this year.
I'm Mike Slater. Bill O'Reilly has your message today. Next.
Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress.
National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets.

message of the day. On this Friday, Mark Zuckerberg apologized to American families whose children
have been injured by Facebook and other social media. He did that on Wednesday. Now, that would pretty much
be every parent in this country. Zuckerberg and other high-tech moguls surely understand the
addictive power of the net, as well as how easy it is for sick villains to exploit children.
And because we live in a free society, much of the harmful cyberspace stuff is not illegal.
Responsible parents can regulate social media, but many adults are.
tech addicts themselves and failed to pay attention. Authorities can't force them to protect their
own children. But new laws should be considered. For example, no devices should be allowed in
public school classrooms unless they are official computers needed for study. A kid flashes a device.
It's confiscated until a parent picks it up. About a new federal cyber
agency that can directly find companies that allow illegal activities on their sites. That would require
a cyber police agency, but it's absolutely essential. And finally, it is now more difficult than
ever to be a kid. Overwhelming danger is a finger click away. We've got to do something. I'm Bill
O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at
Bill O'Reilly.com, name in town, if you wish to opine.
All right, let's go to the mail.
We got John Sato, Hicksville, New York.
O'Reilly, you say Governor Abbott doesn't comply, it could be jail.
Dock over Governor Newsom and all the others who have set up sanctuary states and cities.
If there was a Supreme Court ruling about the sanctuary cities and states, yes.
But there hasn't been.
There's no lawsuits that have reached the court.
the Supreme Court this doesn't issue, they have to hear a case.
So you get to file a suit and they have to take it.
Paul Butcoe, Sarasota, Florida, I believe even if Mayorkas were to be impeached, the budget, the border would remain open.
Yeah, probably.
I mean, Biden not going to do anything.
He'll tell you he is, but I'm not going to do anything to the border.
I think you're right.
Andrew Concierge member, Andrew gets direct access to me.
Bill, thank you for the update on public disorder across a country.
country. In New York City, where is the public outrage over what is happening to police officers?
Not visible. Not visible. No public outrage, no demonstrations.
Local TV media, they do eight minutes on weather. They don't really care. New York Post is
outraged. In this area, that's really the only media vehicle that covers this kind of stuff.
But I haven't seen any public outrage. Tony Chrysler, Kirkland, Washington.
a dear friend of mine is going to vote for Joe Biden because of the abortion issue.
She's otherwise conservative and Catholic.
It's her choice.
If she wants to do that, she's an American, she can do it.
I don't get involved with people's voting choices.
I will say to them, you vote for Biden again, you're going to suffer and your family.
The man is in the beginning stages of dementia.
But four years ago, I told my liberal friends they were going to suffer, and they are suffering.
But people are people.
They do what they want.
In a moment, something you might not know.
Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
154 years ago today, the 13th Amendment was officially added to the U.S. Constitution.
For the first time in our history, it was illegal to own by or sell slaves.
Here is the story.
Before the American Revolution, the bondage of Africans was permitted in all 13 colonies.
After independence, the union became bitterly divided between free and slave states.
The Civil War began in April 18.
On New Year's Day, 1863, President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
The order only applied to Confederate states in rebellion against the federal government.
It did not liberate blacks living in Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, and Delaware.
After the war, Congress moved to eliminate slavery for good.
unlike an executive order, legislation, or court decision, only a constitutional amendment would do that.
Supporters included free blacks, abolitionists, Republicans, and many Christian churches.
Opponents, Southern Democrats, and racists who believed Africans were a subhuman species.
Well, the 13th Amendment was passed by Congress before the Southern states,
had been restored to the union. The bill was approved in the Senate, then the House, by a vote of
119 to 56. The amendment, voted on by all the states, was formally ratified in February 1870.
The bill is composed of just 32 words, quote, neither slavery nor involuntary servitude,
except as a punishment for crime, shall exist within the United States, or any other.
anyplace subject to their jurisdiction.
And there's something else you might not know.
We take another two amendments to the Constitution to completely eradicate slavery.
Fourteenth Amendment grants full citizenship and equal protection to all black Americans,
including former slaves.
The 15th Amendment states the right to vote cannot be denied because of race or color.
Back after this.
