By San Pellegrino Chau now. Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Thank you, Bill. It's Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America. The people love Doge, Apple investments, German chancellor, and detentions down 95%. It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, a new Harvard poll. Do you believe current levels of U.S. government debt is sustainable or unsustainable, 67% said unsustainable. That's a good start. 69% supported a goal of cutting a trillion dollars of government expenditures and 60% support the Department of Government Efficiency.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Not everyone, however, is happy. A group of frustrated park service workers hung a giant American flag upside down off the side of El Capitan and Yosemite, meant to draw attention to Trump's cuts to the National Park Service. Washington Post ran an article the other day with the opening line, the Trump administration fired the only locksmith on staff. He was the sole employee with the keys and the institutional knowledge needed to rescue visitors from locked restrooms.
Starting point is 00:01:35 A ton of questions in that one sentence, but how does only one guy in all of Yosemite have the keys to the bathrooms? And who's getting locked in the bathrooms? Hopefully, Doge will get to the bottom of that. Apple announced plans to spend a half a trillion dollars in the United States over the next four years, 20,000 new employees. one reason why? To avoid tariffs. This is the biggest U.S. investment by Apple ever. The bulk of these new jobs is going to be in Houston, Texas, and in Michigan. The likely next German chancellor, after the German elections on Sunday, you'll hear people in our media call him a conservative. He's not, and he's certainly no Trump fan. He said, after the latest statements by Donald Trump last week, it is clear that the Americans, at any case, these Americans, this administration, mostly don't care about the fate of Europe one way or another, who went on to say that the interventions from Washington were no less drastic, dramatic, and ultimately no less brazen than
Starting point is 00:02:28 the intervention that we have seen from Moscow. The chancellor is of a party that is slightly to the right of the Democrats here in America, but they are going to form a coalition, not with the other party that's further to the right, but with all the leftist parties of Germany. One issue for many German voters is mass migration. That's pretty much over here in America. agents on Friday, and the entire Texas-Mexican border encountered only 199 illegal immigrants. Compared to the same date last year, 4,293. And that's just what we encountered last year. That's a 95% decrease from the same time last year, but really it's just been a couple days.
Starting point is 00:03:07 And we've seen this massive decrease. An illegal alien from Guatemala was charged in Massachusetts with armed home invasion. The local police just let him go without telling ICE. He was caught by ICE and deported. The real question is how many illegal aliens have self-deported. I'm Mike Slater from the podcast, Politics by Faith. Bill O'Ridley with your message today. Next.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Tuesday, I hope you read my latest column on Bill O'Reilly.com about why President Trump is so frenetic. There is a strategy to this. Not mentioned in the column is the incredible failure of the Biden administration, which is now driving much of the Trump agenda. Partialist. President Biden had no plan to stop the war in Ukraine or the Hamas hostage situation. No strategy whatsoever. Under Biden, air traffic control in the USA cratered.
Starting point is 00:04:32 The feds need about 2,000 more controllers in the towers right now. Thank you, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for doing absolutely nothing. Under Biden, an estimated 10 million foreign nationals enter the USA without proper supervision. Thank you, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who championed the open border. On Joe's watch, food prices jump 20 percent, and it's not likely they will decline very much. Once a price point for necessities is established, it's almost impossible to rescind. Almost every single trade deal the USA had under Biden favored the other country. Joe Biden ran up more than $7 trillion in debt over four years. He allowed billions to go to Iran, even as that dastardly country was sending murder money
Starting point is 00:05:24 and arms to Hamas and Hezbollah. The list goes on and on. So Trump is trying to reverse as much of that as quickly as he can, and that is what we are seeing. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. Here's a mail, Karen Smollens, Woodside, New York, one of the last Irish neighborhoods in Queens. Hey, Bill, unfortunately, my children are a liberal. My daughter told me all the recent airline accidents are Trump's fault because Doge is getting rid of too many employees. How do I answer that? You don't answer it. You know, it's not even close to being true. You just say, if you do some research, you'll find out that under Biden, there were two things. thousand air traffic controllers missing. Federal government didn't hire 2,000 under Biden that they needed. Trump didn't have anything to do with this.
Starting point is 00:06:20 But she's not going to believe you no matter what you do. Okay, Jared G. The Philippines, I'm 41 years old, been watching you since I was age 12. Whoa. Do you think Trump is ripping on Zelensky as a negotiation tactic? Read my column. That's all I can tell you. You can get it on bill o'Reilly.com. all over the world. I know the Philippines does not block us. So you can read it, Jared,
Starting point is 00:06:43 and I appreciate it. Then you'll see exactly why Trump is doing what he's doing with Putin. Juan Unda, Mays Landing, New Jersey, President Trump's cashfage make America great again. It's always interested me because it implies a country went wrong somewhere. When do you think America lost its way? It goes up and down. It goes up and down. Okay. And certainly the Biden administration is a disaster. There's no doubt about it. And before that, when Trump was elected the first time, he thought that President Obama was a disaster.
Starting point is 00:07:17 I don't have Obama in that category. If you read confronting the presidents, and I hope you do, we do a very disciplined assessment of Barack Obama. Rich Stevens, San Diego, but you ask that the media ever credited Trump for what he is doing, I'm not sure, but how could they not credit him to the American hostages which were released in Venezuela, in Russia, and I think it was one or two in Gaza. They ignored the story. They ignored Trump's participation. That's what they do. If Trump does anything demonstrably good, media ignores it. That's the strategy. In a moment, something you

Starting point is 00:10:27 And here's something else you might. not know. Even for the poorest U.S. citizens, the quality of life is better than anywhere else in the world. For Americans living below the poverty line, that's about $29,000 in income. 97% of a cell phone, 99 have refrigerators, 98 cable TV, 80% air conditioning, 92% interdent.
