Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, February 3rd, 2025. Here's this happening today in America. Tariffs begin. Texas all in. ISIS killed in Somalia and Panama's first concession. It's all coming up.

Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, this should come as no surprise to anyone in America, unless you thought Trump was bluffing. But Trump approved 25% tariffs on. Canadian goods, 10% on Canadian energy, 25% tariff on goods from Mexico and a 10% tariff on all Chinese goods. He said of Canada, we don't need anything they have. We have unlimited energy. We should make our own cars and we have more lumber than we can ever use. Trudeau and Canada and the Mexican president each announced tariffs back on Americans who want to buy things from Mexico and Canada. The pretense for the tariffs is fentanyl and open borders. Trump said

drugs kill tens of thousands of Americans each year, 75,000 deaths attributed to fentanyl alone. He said more Americans are dying from fentanyl overdoses each year than the number of American lives lost in the entirety of the Vietnam War. The executive order is called imposing duties to address the flow of illicit drugs across our northern border. Enough fentanyl was seized at the Canadian border last year to kill 10 million Americans. A memorandum of understanding between Customs and Border Patrol and the state of Texas

will immediately grant Texas National Guard soldiers the authority to make immigration arrests within the state of Texas. It will allow soldiers to perform roving patrols and exercise all the duties of the immigration agent as long as an immigration officer or border patrol agent accompanies them. The White House says they intend to release video of the successful operation conducted Saturday morning that eliminated a top Islamic state terrorist in northern Somalia. Dr. Sebastian Gorka, he's the senior director for counterterrorism, said we're working right now to scrub that video and make it available in an unclassified form so it can be briefed from the press briefing room, and National Security Advisor Waltz and the president can share that. The White House hopes that releasing the footage will act as a deterrence to potential future terrorists and discourage possible recruits from joining ISIS. Dr. Gorka said, you can think you're safe and you can try and build a safe haven in an ungoverned part of the world like northern Somalia.

But with our capabilities, you can run, but you only die tired. Marco Rubio's first overseas trip was to Panama to talk about getting back the Panama Canal. Trump's main contention is that China has too much influence on the entire canal and ports on both sides of it. And wouldn't you know it, the president of Panama said they would not renew their agreement with China's Belt and Road initiative this coming year. On this Monday, the resistance to Donald Trump has shown its hand two weeks ago, as you'll remember, the inauguration took place, and many of us wondered how Mr. Trump was going to be received by the Washington Swamp. Well, now we know. Lawsuits. Everything the president wants to do is going to be subject to the federal. courts. This is not unanticipated, but it's a strategy. And then the media, the corporate media, which works hand in hand with liberal Democrats, will hype the lawsuits and try to create

the perception of chaos. Now, I don't know whether the Trump administration overall understands the strategy here. I believe they do. But it really doesn't matter to Donald Trump. He's going to write those executive orders, and if the courts throw them out, he can say to his voters, look, I tried. I did what I told you I was going to do, and the federal apparatus has delayed or prevented me. We see that with the transgender stuff. We see it with the spending oversight. We see it with a crackdown on illegal migration. and this will not end.
