Bill O'Reilly here.
You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It's Thursday.
February 6th, 2025.
Here's what's happening today in America.
Trump targets Iran.
The Saudis reject Trump's Gaza plan.
Mitch McConnell takes a tumble.
And a new survey ranks the healthiest cities in America.
It's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with the message of the day.
but first Donald Trump issuing new threats against the Iranian regime.
When asked to comment on rumors that the Ayatollah is planning to assassinate him,
Trump told reporters, quote, that would be a terrible thing for them to do.
If they did that, they would be obliterated.
That would be the end.
There won't be anything left.
Saudi Arabia has rejected Donald Trump's plan to take over the Gaza Strip.
The president, as we reported yesterday, made the announcement alongside the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Some are saying that Trump doesn't really intend to take over Gaza himself.
He just did this to set an anchor and get the other countries in the region to propose their own idea, different than the status quo.
Because the status quo clearly is unacceptable.
While the Saudis stepped up and said that this is no good, the Saudis say any potential diplomatic deal with Israel must include a two-state solution with the Palestinians.
Turkey's foreign minister called Trump's proposal absurd.
officials in Egypt, Jordan, and the UAE and other nations have also rejected Trump's plan.
Okay, great. So either it's going to happen, and Trump will win this battle like he has five other battles in the last week, or these countries can come together with a newer and better plan.
Senator Mitch McConnell fell down a flight of stairs. His second serious fall in weeks, the Kentucky senator reportedly walked away without significant injuries, but he is now using a wheelchair.
He's 82 years old.
he stepped down from being leader of the Republicans in the Senate, but he still remains in the
Senate and an influential figure. He was first elected to Congress in 1984. His current term
ends in these next two years. A new national survey revealed America's healthiest towns.
The study ranked places by exercise, rates of obesity, percentage of smokers, drug addiction,
and life expectancy. The fittest place in America? Salt Lake City, Utah. Followed by San Diego,
Miami Beach and Portland, Oregon.
The title for the unhealthiest town in the country goes to Brownsville, Texas, followed by
Mobile, Alabama, and Jackson, Mississippi.
And speaking of making America healthy again, RFK Jr., Trump's pick for a head of health and human
services, has advanced out of one of the committees to make it to a full Senate floor vote.
Bill Cassidy from Louisiana was the main Republican holdout, but he ultimately agreed to
support RFK Jr.
Surely he will pass.
I'm Mike Slater from the podcast Politics by Faith Bill O'Reilly with your message of the day.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Thursday at a Super Bowl week, and that means...
Actually, I don't know what it means.
Nevertheless, thousands are flocking to New Orleans to socialize
and fight heartburn if they can't digest Cajit.
A very troubled city, the Big Easy, is also unique and full of interesting history.
history. But you have to watch yourself in the quarter, as it is a magnet for miscreants.
On the football front, both Philadelphia and Kansas City could win the game. They're evenly matched.
More than 100 million viewers are expected to watch, even more than see me on YouTube.
And President Trump says he will be there.
In a press conference this week, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked if the league will pull back
on DEI now that the Trump administration is after it.
Mr. Goodale said, no.
According to the team rosters, 53% of the players are black.
But all of them are on the field because of merit.
Believe me, there's no racial aspect of professional football.
You either perform or see you later.
The NFL does have one DEI rule.
Each team must interview an African American
candidate when a head coaching job opens. Doesn't have to hire the person, just has to
consider. Roger Goodell did a good job knocking back the insidious kneeling during the
national anthem stuff that erupted a few years ago and hurt the lead. The DEI trend
doesn't really impact what happens on the field and Goodell doesn't want to foster controversy
so it will remain. Doesn't bother me. If you're good enough, you'll get a chance.
to play no matter what color you are. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.
You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish
to opine. Let's go to the mail. We got Patrick Condon, Newfoundland, Canada. I hope you're
warm up there, Patrick. Hey, O'Reilly, you said yesterday Trump would cancel tariffs of Canada,
let the USA sell more stuff here. Instead, we have to make border changes.
that Mexico is doing while being lumped in with Mexico,
and that has caused a lot of left-leaning politicians to be silently horrified.
The tariffs talk actually did some good,
and that Canadians were talking about being so reliant on the USA for our trade.
I think that's an accurate assessment of what happened, Patrick.
We got Donald John in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada.
How did Trump do the impossible?
He was able to replace Trudeau with himself,
as a person most hated by Canadians.
Well, I mean, if you've got a humongous trade deficit,
I think it's $9 billion to your favor,
kind of his favor.
I think you've got to look at that.
No?
I don't know why you hate the guy.
He's not taken over here.
He says 51st state.
But again, it's what he does.
to get everybody up in arms, cliche, and engaged.
Joe Rasmus, Saranak, Michigan.
I'm hoping you can discuss and clarify some comments I've seen online.
CNN reported that Mexico and Canada were actually doing things.
They were already doing, and Trump gained nothing.
Propaganda.
Trump gained a lot and will gain more.
Those troops at Mexico's putting $100,000 down there,
That stops it cold and influences the drug traffic, too.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know.
90 years ago today, a unique board game was released nationwide.
Unlike others that were marketed for kids,
the complicated premise featured real estate, prisons, railroads, and free parking.
Here's the story behind, Monopoly.
The roots of the game trace back to the Landlords board game, created by Elizabeth Maggie in 1903.
30 years later, various versions circulated throughout the USA, eventually catching the attention of Charles Darrow, an unemployed salesman.
Darrow then created his own edition of the Landlords game, which he called Monopoly.
the toy company Parker Brothers purchased the rights and began selling the game in February
1935. Equivalty became a national sensation, mostly because of the Great Depression.
Monopoly gave players a sense of control over wealth and property that they didn't have in real
life. Through imagery, poor Americans were able to purchase motels, hotels, and entire utility
companies. The game has sold hundreds of millions.
of copies in 47 languages and inspired countless offshoots. Various editions of Monopoly
include The Godfather, Federal Express, Jurassic Park, bass fishing, the Simpsons, on and on
and on and on. And here's something else you might not know. Monopoly played a significant
role in liberating captured Allied soldiers during World War II.
did not know this, even though I've written three books on World War II, to distract captured
allied troops. The Germans allowed Americans and Brits to play monopoly in the prison camps.
Charities were created in England to get the games to the Red Cross, who then distributed them
to the Nazi guards. Unknown to the Germans, modified versions of monopoly,
were smuggled into the camps.
The boards featured actual maps,
compasses, and information
about local areas to help
the captured allies escape.
According to data from the British government,
35,000 prisoners successfully use those maps
to gain freedom.
Back after this.
