Starting point is 00:02:52 Riley. Back after this. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. Did you know that fake news was started by Benjamin Franklin? Bet you didn't. In 1782, he created a phony newspaper that pounded King George and the colonists who supported the King. Old Bam would be surprised at today's media, I believe, because it is so awesome. audacious. Not only does the liberal press spin stories that damage political opponents like President Trump, it also ignores important situations that may put the president in a favorable light. Here's some backup. Last week, the national average for a gallon of regular gas fell to $2.95. Down eight cents from last year.
Starting point is 00:03:52 and falling. ABC and NBC News failed to mention that. Mortgage rates also falling. Little notice by the press. In addition, the stock market is booming, helping most American investors gain financial ground. Now, this is not boosterism for President Trump. It's simply a warning. Many good people are being misled by the American media. And overall, the press cannot be trusted in this country. Those people are not looking out for us. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.

Hegset, Patel, Nome, he should tell them to quit their narratives and quiet down.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Why these cabinet members cannot just remain silent do their jobs without constant grandstanding is beyond me. I don't know. You might be being a little harsh. They have a right to put forth their point of view as heads of departments. I don't have any beef with that. I want the departments to run efficiently. That's what I want. I don't care what they say. Arthur, concierge, remember President Trump
Starting point is 00:05:28 cannot win the midterms himself. He has to rely on other people. And the people are just not going to vote for Republicans as a party. I think you are right. But the president can spell out, vividly next year and he's going to have to do this why his policies are improving the lives of all Americans
Starting point is 00:05:58 that is paramount for him he is tied in with he's got to control the House and Senate next year Donald Trump's pretty good at that but he's got to be very clear about everything Donald do you share your message of the day with President Trump no He knows Bill O'Reilly.com.
Starting point is 00:06:22 He knows what we're doing. I know that because he asked me about it all the time. And I have a message of the day about what is necessary to protect the Trump administration. Because it's coming. The fake news. The column I have today is Benjamin Franklin. Benjamin Franklin invented Fed News. You should check out the message of the day every day.
Starting point is 00:06:52 In a moment, something you might not know. Today there are more dual citizens in the USA than any other time in history. Though commonplace, the debate over multiple allegiances actually dates back to the American Revolution. Here is the story. In the 18th century, loyalty to a single nation became. Paramount. Early Americans were largely suspicious of foreign influence, particularly from England and France. In 1868, the United States Expatriation Act made it possible for foreigners to renounce their citizenship and formally become Americans. The law was expanded in 1907, allowing more
Starting point is 00:07:42 people to legally migrate to the USA. However, the concept of dual citizenship has always been dubious. As of this year, the federal government officially states that it does not formally recognize dual citizenship, but permits it under specific circumstances. Exceptions are made for foreign business dealings, property ownership overseas, family ties, and diplomats. Today, there are more than nine million Americans who hold foreign passports as well as American documents, 9 million. The largest community comes from Mexico, followed by China, India, Canada, the Philippines, Ireland, the UK, Germany, Italy, and Poland.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And here's something else you might not know. The foreigners moving to the USA is a growing trend, as everybody knows, that's what the border crossings illegally were all about. But there's a growing trend of Americans heading abroad. Two million U.S. citizens, not including service members, now permanently live outside the USA. The biggest expat communities can be found in Costa Rica, Panama, Spain, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Australia, Japan. To boost the local economy, many nations are now offering citizenship. to wealthy Americans. You can become Portuguese for $200,000. Want to move to Greece? Buy a home worth 40,000 euros. That's about 50,000 bucks. Uruguay is the easiest. Give them
