Bill O'Reilly here Monday, January 11th, 2021. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Here's what's happening
today in America. Democrats move to impeach President Trump a second time. Some Republicans call on
the president to resign. A Utah man with ties to Black Lives Matter and Antifa IDed inside the
Capitol. Social media bans, Mr. Trump.
The campaign to recall Governor, the campaign to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom growing.
Also, I had the real story behind the Capitol assault.
But first, more than 200 lawmakers co-sponsoring articles of impeachment against Donald Trump.
Democrats threaten to vote as early as Tuesday.
If Mike Pence fails to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would remove the president, that's not going to happen.
Republicans warn both parties that maneuvers will further divide the country, which, of course, they will.
GOP, senators, Patumi, and Lisa Murkowski asking Mr. Trump to step down from office now.
The move would avoid a partisan impeachment trial in Congress and ease fears of further violence.
Other members of the GOP, including the governor of Maryland and two representatives,
also urging Mr. Trump to quitch, which he should not do.
He has nine days in office. It is not necessary. So far, about 100 people have been arrested in the
Capitol riot, almost all of them Trump supporters, but a 25-year-old with ties to Black Lives Matter
and Antifa was inside the Capitol during the riots. John Sullivan of Utah, founder of Insurgents
USA, was part of the chaos. The activist was standing next to protester, Ashley Bavis.
when she was shot dead by a police officer.
President Trump now permanently banned on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google, YouTube, Snapchat, and Apple.
The companies claim he incited a riot during his speech at the White House and could use the
internet to spark more bloodshed. Mr. Trump released a statement saying he's considering
launching his own social media platform.
More than one million Californians have signed a petition to remove Governor Gavin Newsom.
There is deep anger against Newsom because of the shutdowns over COVID.
In a moment, can you handle the truth about the capital fiasco?

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day. The assault on the Capitol last week
has caused turmoil within the United States of America. And there are many unintended consequences of
that. So let's take a look. Imitating the bloody baptism scene in the Godfather, anti-Trump
zealots are coming with guns blazing. The horrendous display of sedition and treachery
in Washington, has provided them with a license to figuratively kill, and they are locked and loaded.
President Trump, the primary target, he's badly wounded, with more pain to come.
Mr. Trump is obviously loathed by many powerful people and is now stripped of defenders
and even the right to fight back on social media. Those who would even grant Mr. Trump a fair
hearing are putting themselves at risk. The president's failure to tamp down the angry protesters
supporting him in Washington has damaged his legacy almost beyond repair. The Trump haters are screaming
that he incited violence, but that is false. The president is smart enough to understand that a
calculated violent attack on Congress in his name would destroy him. However, because of his
bitterness over the election and the unprecedented press mistreatment he's received, Mr. Trump has
lost all perspective and personal discipline. Not an excuse, just an accurate analysis. I know the man.
Now we have even more hatred. Let me ask you a simple question. Do you think Nancy Pelosi and Chuck
Schumer care about bringing the country together? Of course they don't. They want to punish Donald
Trump and every single one of his supporters by ginning up yet another impeachment fiasco they know
would cause hatred. Joe Biden has not subscribed to that because he understands the brutal consequences
of totally emasculating his predecessor, a man who garnered 74 million votes. I'm not even going to
address the corrupt media, which believes its reckless disregard of facts and perspective is a moral
obligation. But social media, that's a different story. I agree that violent threats and defamation
must be policed by Silicon Valley. But denying the president and others the right to express
opinions is dangerous to the nation. Companies have a perfect right to flag what they deem as
inaccurate, but punishing political expression is obviously unconstitutional. The corporate media
uses anonymous, unverifiable sources every single day. And social media never censors that.
It is beyond any doubt that the assault on Congress by Trump supporters has created a national
emergency. We are descending into the madness of irrationality in this country. In addition,
the anti-Trumpers are now exacting vivid revenge, and there doesn't seem to be any ceasefire
in sight. And so our divided nation turns to you, Joe Biden. Diffuse it as best you can.
I'm Bill O'Reilly, and I approve that message by actually writing it. Disagree, I'd like to hear from you.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
57 years ago this week, the government finally warned American citizens of the deadly health dangers posed by smoking cigarettes.
the culmination of a two-year study ordered by President John F. Kennedy.
In 1962, JFK authorized the creation of a committee to investigate the harmful effects of tobacco.
At the time, more than 45% of adults in the USA were regular smokers.
In 1964, the study came back.
The 400-page report concluded smokers are 15 times more likely to die from lung cancer,
than non-smokers. Two years later, the Surgeon General ordered all cigarette manufacturers
to place warning labels on their products. Today, just 15% of Americans smoke more than five
cigarettes a day. Folks who do inhale more than a pack a day have dropped to one in 20. However,
the industry still generates $46 billion in sales every year. Despite the decline in smoking,
consuming tobacco remains a major medical problem in the USA and all over the world.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, cigarette smoking remains the leading cause of
preventable death in the USA. 500,000 people die in this country from smoking-related diseases
every year, a half million. Tobacco use is responsible for 87% of lung cancer deaths,
79% of all chronic pulmonary disease deaths and 32% of coronary heart disease.
The World Health Organization estimates that cigarettes account for 6 million fatalities worldwide each year.
And here's something else you might not know.
Ex-smokers say the two biggest factors in quitting are personal health and finances.
When JFK created the commission,
A pack of Marlboroughs in New York City cost $0.25. A pack a day back then, set the smoker back
$91 a year. Today, Marlboro's and the Big Apple sell for $16 a pack. The habit will cost you $6,000 a year.
Back after this.
