Starting point is 00:00:39 Thank you, Bill. It's Wednesday, January 15th, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America. Heggseth hearing, inauguration Monday, age verification, and see you later. IRS, welcome ERS. It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, Pete Hegseth handled the confirmation hearing with the Armed Services Committee with a plumb. It's pretty much consensus that the Democrats were not able to land a punch on him the entire day yesterday. They tried to get him on sexual assault allegations. He said, I was falsely accused. It was fully investigated, and I was completely cleared. Many eyes were on Joni Ernst from Iowa because when Pete Hexeth was announced, she would not come out and say that she is going to support him.
Starting point is 00:01:17 She later did, and she did not offer any tough questioning. She did say, though, that when she was in the military, she was not allowed to serve in combat roles. And she wanted every man and woman to have the opportunity to serve in combat so long as as they met the high standards. Heggsath said yes, exactly the way you caveated it. Women will have access to ground combat roles given that the standards remain high. The inauguration is on Monday.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Michelle Obama will not be there. She gave no reason. The Clintons will be there. The Bushes will be there. So will Barack. She really doesn't like Donald Trump. Who else will be there? Carrie Underwood, performing America the Beautiful.
Starting point is 00:01:52 She said, I love our country. And I'm honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this. historic event. She said, I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future. Flags across America are half staff right now because of the death of Jimmy Carter. U.S. Code says that the American flag should be flown at half staff for 30 days after the death of a president or former president, which would overlap with Monday ceremony while the Speaker of the House ordered that the flag be flown at full staff
Starting point is 00:02:23 for the day. This happened once before when Nixon was inaugurated in 1973. It was within 30 days of Harry Truman passing away. Those flags were kept at half-staff. The Supreme Court is going to debate state efforts to require pornography websites to verify a visitor's age. Texas passed a law in 2003. Many other states have followed since then. It says a website must have a reasonable age verification method to confirm that visitors are at least 18 years old. These websites claim that this has violated their First Amendment right because it burdens an adult's access to protected speech.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Trump announcing that he will create not the IRS, but the ERS, an external revenue service to collect tariffs. He said, we will begin charging those that make money off us with trade, and they will start paying finally their fair share. January 20th, 2025 will be the birth date of the external revenue service. Make America great again. I'm Mike Slater from the podcast Politics by Faith. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Wednesday, now that the lunatic asylum of California liberal politics has been exposed by the wildfire disaster, honest Americans face some introspection. It's clear the United States has descended into ideological
Starting point is 00:04:55 tribalism, and that is hurting all of us. For example, the primary reason the African continent has never generally prospered is the overwhelming presence of ancient hatreds, tribes, failing to put aside differences for the great of good of a strong, fair country. And it's not just Africa. I was struck by Congresswoman Maxine Waters' statement that the real problem facing natural disasters in Los Angeles is that wealthy Americans don't pay their fair share and taxes, a stunning opinion that reflects a completely incomprehensible mindset. For the Democratic Congresswoman, efficiency, and problem solving simply don't exist. Her far-left political tribe wants to punish the affluent far more than providing realistic protections for all.
Starting point is 00:05:54 all. On the right, exclusionary policies also exist. At this point in our history, powerful food and drug companies are badly hurting Americans by peddling massive amounts of sugar and charging big money for medicine. There is little conservative outcry. Simple truth, problems need to be addressed, but tribes seek power, not solutions. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Starting point is 00:06:32 Name in town if you wish to opine. Okay, the mail. Ronald, concierge member, Ronald gets direct access to me. My team is his team. First priority for the Trump administration, my opinion should be to repair the damage done to our country by the Biden and Obama administrations and then try to eliminate the two-tier justice system.
Starting point is 00:06:52 I don't think you're ever going to eliminate corruption in the justice system, it's just too deeply entrenched. I don't think that's possible anymore. I hate to say it. Dan, I agree with your assessments bill. However, no amount of preparation would have prevented the fire. Correct. Fire would have happened, but nothing is bad. If they had, you know, a reservoir in Pacific Palisades was down and not operating for a year.
Starting point is 00:07:20 What? But if they had that water, they could have knocked this thing down a lot sooner. They didn't have it. That's the point. They were derelict, they being the politicians, in their duty. John, concierge, remember your presentation about the Trump-Nusome-L.A. fire situation needs to be seen by all Americans. You owe it O'Reilly to cause that to happen.
Starting point is 00:07:51 So what am I supposed to do? Force the networks to run my commentary? They don't want any part of me. This presentation is so far beyond what they do. They don't want to let their viewers know what we're doing here. I mean, come on. It's not even the same universe. What we give you every night and what they give you, which is why you're here.
