Starting point is 00:00:02 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Friday, January 23rd, 2026. Here's what's happening today in America. 200 million Americans praise for a massive winter storm. Jack Smith testifies before Congress. A majority of voters view both parties unfavorably. And a new study reveals how badly Americans are addicted to our...
Starting point is 00:00:31 Sorry, I just got an alert. to our smartphones. And then I'll be back with your message today about Trump's speech at Davos. But first, at least 200 million people are now in the path of a major winter storm hitting the central and eastern parts of the country. Places like New York City are expecting up to one foot of snow. Texas, Kentucky, and the Carolinas could see six inches of sleet and frozen rain. Aviation experts anticipate the cancellation of hundreds of flights across America
Starting point is 00:00:57 between Saturday morning and Sunday evening. I am in Nashville and there is no bread or milk at any grocery store. Everyone is going to be eating more bread over these next two days than they have the last two years. Just be huddled around a candle. It's eating bread all day and all night while it snows outside a little bit. Oh, how the mighty have fallen former special prosecutor Jack Smith defending his position to prosecute Donald Trump. Smith testified before the House this week after accusing the president of directly inciting the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. Smith said, quote, no one should be above the law in this country, and the law required that he be held to account.
Starting point is 00:01:36 So that's what I did. Republicans accused the prosecutor of acting in a partisan way to help the Democratic Party. The president wrote on Twitter, coming back from Davos, based on his testimony today, there's no question that deranged Jack Smith should be prosecuted for his actions. He destroyed the lives of many innocent people, which has been his history as a prosecutor. At a minimum, he committed large-scale perjury. A new poll from Gallup showing a majority of voters hold a negative view of both political parties. 70% disapprove of Democrats.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Who approves of what the Democrats are? That number falls to 55% disapproval of the Republican Party. Historically, Americans have been more positive towards the Democratic Party than the Republican Party. Since 2009, the average favorable rating for liberal politicians has been at 45% compared to 40% for conservatives. A new survey by Fox News. shows the typical American checks their smartphones 96 times per day. That is one check every 10 minutes. The statistic is even higher for teens and young adults.
Starting point is 00:02:42 The poll also shows that 80% of people sleep with devices less than two feet from our heads, the worst apps taking our attention in 26, TikTok, and Instagram. I'm Mike Slater from Politics by Faith. I'll have your message to the day next about one of the most important things the president said at Davos about home ownership. It's next. Starting point is 00:03:33 Mike Slater, Philner for Bill O'Reilly. Now it's time for the O'Reilly update message of the day. I want to talk about two aspects of Trump's Davos speech at the World Economic Forum that might have been overlooked. First, about home ownership. He said to all these rich elitists in Switzerland, you buy a corporation and buy 500 houses. You can take depreciation. But a person sweats and works and buys one house. They can't.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Homes are built for people. not for corporations. And America will not become a nation of renters. That's why I signed an executive order banning large institutional investors from buying single-family homes. It's just not fair to the public. They're not able to buy a house. And I'm calling on Congress to pass that ban into permanent law, and I think they will. I look forward to hearing details on the policy, but I love the fact that he brought this up at Davos. It was just a couple years ago when the World Economic Forum, put out their whole, you'll own nothing and be happy, vision for the world. Do you remember that?
Starting point is 00:04:35 You'll own nothing and be happy. That was their literal headline for their vision. It came from a 2016 essay written by a Danish woman of all places from Denmark. Ida Aukin, who is a communist, she's a member of the Socialist People's Party. She's also a priest in the Church of Denmark. So that's all you need to know about her. She's a communist. And she wrote this piece about how technology will solve all of our problems, globalism and technology.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Technology will save us from capitalism. And tech will cause us to reach all of our sustainability goals about the environment and eliminate disease and end the refugee crisis and eliminate air and water pollution and all of unemployment and all social unrest. Let me read a little bit from this dystopian article. This is how it begins. Welcome to the year 2030. Welcome to my city. Or should I say, our city. I don't own anything.
Starting point is 00:05:28 I don't own a car. I don't own a house. I don't own any appliances or any clothes. It might seem odd to you, but it makes perfect sense for us in this city. Everything you considered a product has now become a service. We have access to transportation, accommodation, food, and all the things we need in our daily lives. One by one, all of these things became free. So it ended up not making sense for us to own much.
Starting point is 00:05:55 And the vision that this communist outlined in the World Economic Forum endorsed is where everything is Uber. Everything is rented. Her essay, it's one of the most dystopian, sick, delusional, new-age communist things I've ever read. And this is the world that the World Economic Forum was leading us towards that and eating bugs. And it all came from a Danish communist priestwoman. So Trump walks in now, how quickly things change. Trump walks in to the middle of this. world of renter's worldview and just pile drives the whole thing right on the stage.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Homes are built for people, not for corporations, and America will not become a nation of renters. For our president to go and say this rate in the face of Europe, rate directly to the globalists, it's incredible. He has made America the superpower that we've been afraid to be. There's no reason anymore for us to have a third world mentality. all of the failures that we've seen in America and in Europe, it's all self-imposed. There's no need for this.
Starting point is 00:07:00 We don't need to import the third world here, and we don't need third-world ideas. Enough of the loser third-world globalist mentality. It's America first now. We're not ashamed. We are the shining city upon a hill, not because we're weak, but because we're strong. And it's Howard Lutnik said, when we shine, the world shines. Welcome to the beginning of the American Golden Age. We'll talk about another thing that the president said at Davos that needs to be celebrated.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Next. At Medcan, we know that life's greatest moments are built on a foundation of good health, from the big milestones to the quiet winds. Well, this you definitely know, but maybe don't know how bad it really is. America pays way more than the rest of the world for prescription drugs. There's a blood thinner drug, eloquists. In France, a month's supplies $650.
Starting point is 00:08:17 In America, it's $7,000. Humira, it's $2,000 in Canada. 6,000 in America. OZempeg is 70 bucks in France. It's $1,000 in America. This is crazy. Trump's ending it. If you want to diagnose someone with TDS,
Starting point is 00:08:35 Trump Durantin Syndrome, all you have to do is ask them one question. Do you support the president's effort to negotiate most favored nation drug prices? And if they're against it, I'm sorry to say they have full-blown TDS. The left has been fighting for lower prescription drug prices for decades. Bernie Sanders would have been the presidential nominee for Democrats in 2016 if Hillary didn't
Starting point is 00:09:00 rig it. He ran almost entirely on lowering prescription drug prices. This has been a lefties crusade for decades. And Trump got it done without socialized medicine like they have in Canada. What is most favored nation drug price? It means that in America, you will pay the lowest price for a prescription drug than anywhere else the entire world. Who in TDS land could be against that? There was no bill needed, no socialized medicine needed, just negotiate with the big pharmaceutical companies to do the right thing and stop
Starting point is 00:09:32 making massive profits off of Americans. Right after Trump's speech at Davos, went on Facebook and an old friend of mine who hates Trump so much she had to move to Europe, picked up everything brought her family to Europe, couldn't take living in America anymore because of Trump. She made a video about how a friend of hers in Spain got sick. And she got a pill for 25 pills for $6. That woman's sister is a doctor in America and said that that same pill is $500 in America. And it's so expensive, they only reserve it for treating very serious patients with a certain disease. It's so expensive.
Starting point is 00:10:05 And in Spain, it's $6. And her point was that American health care, it's awful and it's terrible. And it's one reason why you've got to leave America and move to Europe. but Trump's most favored nation drug program solves exactly this. So if this pharmaceutical company charges $6 for this pill in Europe, it'll be $6 in America. I can't wait to hear how the left can somehow be against this. Just admit it's good. Give him credit for one thing.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Admit that maybe he's not Hitler after all. I'm Mike Slater. More coming up.
