Starting point is 00:00:02 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Tuesday, January 27th, 20206. Here's this happening today in America. Holman coming in. Major social media lawsuit and R&C convention and the final game is set. It's all coming up and Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the latest with Minneapolis. The president had a phone conversation with the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz.
Starting point is 00:00:29 The president said that Walls called him to discuss working together. with respect to Minnesota. It was a very good call, and we actually seem to be on a similar wavelength. The president said, I'm sending Tom Holman to Minnesota tonight. He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me. Holman will be managing ICE operations on the ground to continue arresting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens. The normal chain of command here is Kristy Knoem and Greg Bovino overseeing ICE operations. Trump also said, I just had a very good telephone conversation with Mayor Jacob Fry of Minneapolis, lots of progress is being made.
Starting point is 00:01:07 The vice president said this level of engineered chaos is unique to Minneapolis. It's the direct consequence of far-left agitators working with local authorities. A major trial just got underway in California's Superior Court in Los Angeles, Mark Zuckerberg's meta, China's TikTok, and Google's YouTube, facing their first courtroom trial this week over allegations that their platforms contributed to a youth mental health crisis through their addictive design features. The case involves a 19-year-old California woman who alleges that she developed an addiction to these platforms at a young age due to their attention-grabbing design features. This addiction contributed to her depression and suicidal thoughts. This trial is the first
Starting point is 00:01:46 time these tech companies are required to defend themselves in court at least over allegations of harm caused by their products. The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, is expected to testify in the trial. The Republican National Committee adopted an amendment that will allow them to hold a midterm convention for the first time ever. The goal here is to defy history, meaning nearly every single midterm election, the party in the White House loses a ton of seats in the midterm election for Congress. So the RNC chair said we need to do some things that are a little bit different than normal. Only four times in the last 150 years has the incumbent party been successful in the midterms. This first ever midterm convention, Trump, the headliner of it all,
Starting point is 00:02:26 is going to be in July or August before big voting day in November. The Super Bowl has been set, the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. Seattle began the season with 90 to one odds to make it to the final game. Their point differential this season was plus 191. The Patriots were also long shots. The last two seasons, the Patriots were 4 and 13. This year, 14 and 3. The big game is not this Sunday, but the next Sunday, February 8th in San Francisco,
Starting point is 00:02:54 630 Eastern kickoff on NBC. The Great Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day. Next. Time now for the O'Reilly update, message of the day. On this Tuesday, way too many politics in the ICE Minneapolis disaster. Now, the Senate Democrats say they will not vote to fund ICE, which could shut down a government again by the end of this month. Obviously, this hurts all of us. As usual, politicians simply will not accept the truth of this situation.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Minnesota authorities are in full rebellion against federal law. That is a crime. and there's no justification for it. The American people elected Donald Trump to enforce immigration statutes. If Minnesota doesn't like it, tough. States should be physically punished for practicing anarchy.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Meantime, there is too much defiance about public safety from homeland security. Yes, your job is enforcement, but diffusing potential life-death situations should be a priority. Leadership clearly knows federal agents are in danger from disturbed people in Minnesota. Adjustments have to be made.
Starting point is 00:04:07 However, it is absolutely true that the man shot dead on Saturday actually sought his own demise. Sane people don't bring loaded guns and then confront law enforcement officials. The man's family should be respected and his loss mourned. But he himself orchestrated his own. demise, and I hate to say that. Finally, President Trump should begin supervising these events in Minnesota directly. He doesn't have to back down, but reasonable dialogue should be put on the table. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at bill
Starting point is 00:04:53 o'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the male. Ray Cartonia, Charleston, South Carolina. Hey Bill, sorry about your illness, hope you're back. I am back. Thank you, Ray. It is homes for me as a fellow baby boomer trying to live the smart life. We clear think of us rely on your objective reporting to provide us reliable information. If there are a Hall of Fame for journalists, you'd be elected on the first ballot. I think, I appreciate that. It is very important that you spread the word about the no-spin news, because I am not going to deceive you. And I'm going to do this as long as I can do it.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Shanag Stringfellow. What a name is Shanag Stringfellow. What's happening in Minnesota right now feels deeply troubling. Level of violence and tension we are seeing is not okay. It does not reflect the kind of country I want my child to grow up in it. People being shot and killed should never become something we accept to normalize. I want to be clear, I support law enforcement firmly believe in a rule of law. Police officers have a difficult job, but most serve with integrity.
Starting point is 00:06:01 supporting police however should not mean ignoring situations where things escalate two deadly outcomes okay i have no problem with that we're not undermining here we are imposing discipline and honesty that is what we are doing we're not blaming and i i got to tell you to say the things i said about the man who was shot down i didn't want to do that but it's a truth keith brooks chapel hill north Carolina, when customs apprehends a criminal alien, do they go to prison or back to Mexico? Number one, not Mexico, it's everywhere. When Homeland Security detains you, you are deported about 90% of the time. Unless there's an act of criminal violent warrant out, we have to go through the judicial
Starting point is 00:06:52 process. In a moment, something you might not know. Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. Eighty-one years ago today, Soviet troops liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp in southern Poland. Of the one million people dispatched to that complex, just a few thousand survived. Here is the story. On January 27, 1945, a band of Russian soldiers discovered the gates of what they thought was an abandoned factory. They soon found 50,000 pairs of shoes, 10-foot piles of human hair, hundreds of oil drums
Starting point is 00:07:33 filled with gold teeth and reading glasses. Cautiously, 7,000 survivors inside the camp emerged. They had been abandoned without food, water, and heat for nearly three weeks. Prisoners included Hitler's political enemies, communists, homosexuals, mentally disabled, but mostly Jewish people. The average life expectancy at Outchwitz less than 11 days, if you were over 50, about an hour. The liberation exposed the world to the horrors of the Holocaust. At its height, the Third Reich operated 42,000 confinement ghettos and concentration camps.
Starting point is 00:08:18 The network span from France to Russia, jailing more than one million innocent people at any given time. Between 15 to 20 million human beings were murdered or imprisoned at these sites, the largest crime in human history. And here's something else you might not know. During the liberation of Auschwitz and other death camps, survivors spontaneously began singing Havtivavah, a 19th century poem about the Jewish people's eventual return to Jerusalem. The title in Hebrew means the hope. Today, the song is the national anthem for the state of Israel. The Holocaust is not to be denied, and any human being who does that should be condemned.
Starting point is 00:09:17 This is not a debatable issue.
