Starting point is 00:00:03 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Wednesday, January 28th, 2026. Here's what happening today in America. Pready broken rib, social media ban, sewage in the swamp, and ice in Italy. It's all coming up, then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, CNN is reporting that Alex Pretty, who was shot and killed by federal agents last week. A week before that last interaction suffered a broken rib when a group of federal officers tackled
Starting point is 00:00:33 him when he was protesting their attempt to detain other individuals. A memo sent earlier this month to agents temporarily signed to the city, asked them to capture all images, license plates, identifications, and general information on hotels, agitators, protesters, et cetera, so we can capture it all in one consolidated form. I say that because federal agents apparently had documented details about Alex Preti before Saturday. The earlier incident started when he stopped his car after observing ICE agents chasing what he described as a family on foot and began shouting and blowing his whistle.
Starting point is 00:01:06 Preti later told a source that five agents tackled him, one leaned on his back, which left him with a broken rib. The agents then released him at the scene. The source said that that day, he thought he was going to die. So it's not the first time he interfered the federal law enforcement. FBI director Cash Patel said the FBI is investigating signal group chats used by observers to share information about ICE activities. French lawmakers approved to bill banning social media for children under 15. This would start the next school year. The bill also bans the use of mobile phones in high schools entirely. It was passed 130 to 21, moves to the Senate now soon. This vote comes just after the British government said it will consider
Starting point is 00:01:47 banning young teenagers from social media as well. And this comes a couple weeks after Australia was the first to ban social media for kids under the age of 16. A sewage spill in the Potomac River right near D.C., caused by a broken pipe, has polluted this body of water with levels of e-coli nearly 12,000 times what authorities limit for human contact. 300 million gallons of contamination entered the river since this 72-inch broken pipe was discovered last week. D.C. water reported it's close to fully containing the overflow. The Department of Homeland Security is providing security for athletes in Italy during the Olympics. And some members of ICE will be there.
Starting point is 00:02:31 ICE will be vetting and mitigating risks from transnational criminal organizations, according to DHS. Italy is very upset about this. But the DHS spokesperson said that ICE does not conduct immigration enforcement operations in foreign countries. Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance will be at the opening ceremonies on February 6th. I'm Mike Slater. I have a podcast called Politics by Faith. You can listen to it anywhere you listen to your podcast. Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day. Next. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Wednesday, the corrupt American media is ignoring an enormous story attached to the chaos in Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:03:14 There is emerging evidence that a billionaire tech mogul, Neville Roy Singham, is funding, at least in part, the insurrection in Minneapolis. Singham is a communist who lives in Shanghai, China, and is loyal to the Beijing government. 71 years old, born in Connecticut, married to Jody Evans, the founder of the radical group Code Pink. The FBI has investigated Singham in the past. He uses a U.S. nonprofit called Breakthrough News to funnel millions to radical groups like Democratic Socialists of America and the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee. Those subversive outfits are on the ground in Minnesota, organizing hardcore zealots to disrupt and provoke federal agents. The goal is to undermine the federal government, to create as much violence and chaos as possible.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Again, why hasn't this situation been made public by the media? Red alert here, correct? When you have a hostile foreign government engaging with a billionaire to get money to far-left radical groups promoting discord, that's a hell of a story. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Name in town if you wish to opine. Let's go to the mail. Richard. Bill, I'm sorry to read that you two are spreading. misleading it narrative about the Minneapolis killing. And that amounts to a lie. All the videos indicate the gun played no role in the jumping of the man. The victim was kneeling over a pushdown woman. And then Richard goes on and on and on. Number one, I'm not spreading a lie. That is a lie. So you lied about me, Richard. I say that absolutely should be investigated.
Starting point is 00:05:25 very clearly said that. And I'm not going to make any determination on television watching a videotape because that's a denial of due process. All right. So I'm clear on this. Not so sure about you. Robert Quinn, Wilmington, North Carolina. I support your belief that Minneapolis is in full rebellion. But for once, I agree with the Democrats that the fatal shooting was unjustified, even given the obvious tension.
Starting point is 00:05:55 created by Walls Fry and protesters. Okay. It's a legitimate opinion, but it is an opinion, not a fact. The facts come when you present evidence to a jury. John McArthur, Clinton, Connecticut. President advisors must reassess immigration, deal with it realistically. Failure to do so will hurt the extraordinary and potentially wonderful things. President Trump is on a verge of accomplishing.
Starting point is 00:06:25 I think he knows that. Gillian, concierge member, Gillian has special access to me, as do all CMs. Check it out on Bill O'Reilly.com. It'll change your life for the better. Promise. Let's get back to basics. This would never be an issue if Biden hadn't opened the border.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Why can't people see that? Because they don't want to see it. They don't want to see it. That's why. Simple. In a moment, something you might not know. That studio, your new foundation. Use PDF spaces to generate a presentation.

Starting point is 00:07:27 Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might. Not know. Seventy years ago this evening, Elvis Presley made his first national appearance on television. The performance launched one of the most successful acts in the history of music. Here's how Elvis went from a truck driver to the king of rock and roll. Born in 1935, rural Mississippi, Elvis' career began in Memphis, Tennessee, where the 19-year-old recorded a song as a gift for his mother. The producer, Sam Phillips, urged the singer to record an entire album. Elvis did and released three singles. While none topped the charge, he soon became a local celebrity.
Starting point is 00:08:14 On January 28, 1956, Elvis Presley and his band performed Shake, Rattle, and Roll on the Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey program. Well, get on that kitchen and to rattle those parts of paint. Get out of the kitchen and rattle those pots and pans Well, I roll my breakfast because I'm a hungry man I believe you're doing me wrong And now I know Because the heart I left to burst of the money go Well, I said, shake, rattling, and roll
Starting point is 00:08:54 I said, shake, rattling, and roll I said, shake, rattling, roll, I said, shake, rattling, roll, I said shake, ready to roll. Well, you want to do the right, just over your dogs, don't. Throughout his 20-year career, Presley racked up 18, number one singles, another 40 records in the top 10. Elvis Presley's life was totally derailed by drugs and alcohol, as you know. The substance abuse eventually killed him at the age of 42. On August 16, 1977, the king was discovered dead on his bathroom floor.
Starting point is 00:09:29 doctor said he died from a heart attack. It was not true. And here's something else you might not know. Despite his death, nearly 50 years ago, Elvis Presley remains one of the most popular musicians in the world. A 2020 survey from Rolling Stone magazine found 47% of Americans identify themselves as fans of Elvis. The king has streamed 12 million times a month. His Tennessee Mansion Graceland, the most visited private home in the United States. Back in a moment. Thank you for listening to the O'Reilly update.
