Bill O'Reilly here, you are listening to the O'Reilly Update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It's Wednesday, January 29th, 2025.
Here's what's happening today in America.
You're fired if you want.
Executive order on trans kids, get the dirtbags, and Google Map Update.
That's all coming up.
That Bill's going to be here with your message of the day.
But first, last night, the Office of Personnel Management and the executive branch sent an email to 2 million federal employees offering a deferred resignation program available to all full-time federal employees except for service members, postal service workers, immigration, or national security employees.
If anyone wants to take the deal, they have to accept it by February 6th.
If you accept it, you will be exempted from all in-person work requirements and continue to be paid until September 30th.
And then after that, you no longer work for the federal government.
The letter says that the reformed federal workforce will be built around four pillars.
One, return to office.
Two, performance culture.
The best America has to offer excellence at every level.
Number three, more streamlined and flexible workforce.
and number four, an enhanced standard of conduct.
Anyone who wants to take the offer, just reply to the email, and in the subject, right, resign.
The administration says if only five or ten percent of employees take it, it'll save the taxpayer $100 billion.
Trump signed an executive order banning transgender care, as the activists call it, for people under the age of 19.
This order would move to restrict medical institutions that receive federal funding from providing puberty blockers, hormone,
therapies and surgeries, calling on the Department of Health and Human Services to, quote,
take all appropriate actions to end the chemical and surgical mutilation of children.
The new Secretary of Homeland Security, Christy Noem, suited up in New York City to, in her words,
get the dirt bags off our streets.
She said the raids started at 3 a.m.
The first arrest was a ringleader of the Venezuelan gang Train de Aragua.
She wrote, since Trump took office one week ago, our DHS enforcement officers have arrested
thousands of criminal aliens. Arrest include convicted murderers, rapists, child abusers, drug
traffickers, MS-13 gang members, cartel members. America is no longer a safe haven for violent
criminals. Denmark is choosing to do it the hard way, continuing to say that Greenland is not for
sale and there's no negotiations, it will not happen, even pledging to increase their military
spending in the Arctic by $2 billion that will fund three new Arctic naval vessels, two
drones and long-range surveillance capabilities.
Still no match for us, of course.
In similar news, Google said they plan to update Google Maps to call Denali Mount
McKinley again and also the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America.
I'm Mike Slater from the podcast, Politics by Faith, Bill O'Reilly with your message of the day.

time. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. On this Wednesday, President Trump unveiled his new press secretary yesterday at the White House.
Caroline Levitt, the youngest press secretary in history. 27 years old, mother of an infant from New Hampshire, attended St. Anselm's College, actually ran for Congress in the live, free or die state, and lost. Then she attached herself to the Trump.
re-election effort, and she's a very articulate woman. I can tell you that. A couple of things
she said right off the bat, that the drones were no threat, that the U.S. government knew
they were up there and doing some research or something. And then she said something very
interesting that the new administration, led by Donald Trump, is reclassifying migrants. So everybody
who breaks immigration law, either by coming across the border or overseeing a visa, is now
considered a criminal by the White House. That is a change. Because before, if you violated
U.S. immigration law was a civil offense. Now, Congress is going to have to codify that, but
when you are in the deportation situation, now the Justice Department considers you a criminal
if you are here illegally. That was the big headline. As far as presentation, Ms. Levitt spoke a little
bit too fast, but you can excuse that first day, a little nervous, but she looked very self-assured
to me, and I'm glad she's in the job. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.
You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com, Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com, name in town, if you wish
to opine. Mel, Stephen Wilkerson, Plano, Texas. I used to live in Richardson right near Plano.
Bill, you're not often wrong, but you said Pete Hegseth would not get confirmed, when will we hear you say I was wrong?
Now?
So in December, I said that Hegseth would not be the next Secretary of Defense on this program.
I said that because our research showed that Senator Tillis of North Carolina was going to vote against Hegsett.
It's not an excuse.
I'm just telling you what the report.
reporting is. And so you add that to Murkowski and to the main lady and to Collins in Maine
and to McConnell, and you get four Republicans not voting for Heggseths, so he couldn't win.
Couldn't get confirmed. That was in December. Then Tillis started to wobble, as they often do.
So in January, I revised a little bit. You may remember, Stephen, I said, it doesn't look
because Tillis was still right on the fence. But in the end, Tillis went over and voted for
Heggseth, and then J.D. Vance had to break the time. So yes, I was wrong, but there was no guess,
but things changed. Nick Carelli, Abington, Pennsylvania, I appreciate you pressing Congressman
Comer and trying to advance the Biden investigation, but we all know that's not going to happen
and nobody will face criminal charges. You may be right.
But we need to know, we the people, whether Joe Biden took money.
Kevin Martin, Drake at Massachusetts, now notice I said Drake it correctly because Boston's my second home.
And when I go to Boston, which I will in a couple of weeks for a Celtics Cavs game, everybody thinks I'm from there, which I like.
So I'm a New Yorker, but I have deep ties of Boston, which very, very unusual.
Usually New York boss, and you know how it is.
In a moment, something you might not know.
Oh, tasty high note.
Oh, hi, don't mind me.

180 years ago today, American author Edgar Allan Poe released one of the most famous poems of all time.
The story inspired a new generation of writers, particularly those interested in the macabre.
Here's the story behind The Raven. Born 1809,
in Boston, Poe began publishing short stories after a brief stint at the U.S. military
academy in West Point.
He moved to New York City, sending poems and articles to local magazines, and a few were printed.
In 1845, the then-36-year-old released the Raven.
The poem features an unnamed narrator who is visited on a cold December night by a wild bird.
Here's how it begins.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary, over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, while I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, wrapping at my chamber door.
Well, the Raven became an international success.
It was printed with illustrations in England, France, and Russia.
It remains one of the most well-known poems in history.
And here's something else you might not know.
The death of Edgar Allan Poe is as mysterious as some of his stories.
In June 1849, the author embarked on a speaking tour of America.
On September 27th, he was supposed to board a ferry going from Richmond, Virginia, to Baltimore, Maryland, then on to New York City.
What occurred over the next few days remains unknown.
Poe arrived in Baltimore, but never left.
He was found unconscious in a small bar on October 3rd.
He was taken to a hospital, where doctors determined the clothes he was wearing were not his own.
A Baltimore newspaper claimed the cause of death was congestion of the brain.
The paper may have been correct.
Edgar Allan Poe was a well-known substance abuser.
Back after this.
