Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday, January 29th, 20206.
Here's this happening today in America.
Trump accounts, pretty video, Elon attack, and armada to Iran.
That's all coming up.
And Bill's going to be here with your message of the day.
But first, big press conference yesterday about the Trump accounts.
The Treasury Secretary said this could be the president's most enduring legacy.
He said 38% of Americans have no.
exposure to the equity markets. You can see why there's a generation of disenfranchised folks
who are not a part of our great innovation economy, the American economic engine. So every child born
for the next four years gets $1,000 automatically put into the account. Parents or anyone can put
up to $5,000 a year into it. Kids can't touch it until they're 18. Philanthropists have already
put money into many accounts. Businesses can put money into the accounts for the children of
employees as well. Bank of America is putting $1,000 in, for instance. If you just keep the $1,000
that you get on your birthday, contribute no more money. At 18, that thousand turned into $5,800.
If you contribute just $250 a year, that's $20,700 when they turn 18. And if you contribute
$5,000 a year, at 18, that turns into $304,000. Keep that in there to the age of $55,000 a year, $2.7 million.
New video of Alex Preddy, who was shot and killed by federal agents last week.
Eleven days before that shooting, there's video of him approaching agents shouting at them,
spitting in their direction, and then he ran up behind a nice vehicle that was driving away
and kicked the tail light out.
Agents got out and took him to the ground.
It's unclear if this is the same interaction with law enforcement where he broke a rib,
it doesn't look like it.
So Saturday, this last Saturday, could have been his third engagement with law enforcement.
And in this new video that was released, as he's getting up, you can see a gun in his waistband.
If only he was arrested that day.
A man splashed some liquid on Elon Omar at a town hall event.
He was sitting in the front row, 55-year-old man.
A couple days before that, he texted his neighbor that he might get arrested at the town hall.
He was arrested, charged with third-degree assault.
The liquid turned out to be apple cider vinegar.
Trump said a massive armada is headed towards Iran and warned Tehran to make his
deal. The president said it is headed quickly to Iran with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose.
It is a larger fleet headed by the great aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln than was sent to Venezuela.
Like with Venezuela, it is ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfill its mission with speed
and violence if necessary. Hopefully Iran will quickly come to the table and negotiate a fair
and equitable deal. No nuclear weapons. Central Command confirmed. U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln
and three destroyers are now in the region.
later for the podcast Politics by faith bill o'reilly has your message of the day next time now for
the o'reilly update message of the day on this thursday it may be unfair of me to criticize
trump administration people like cash patel i am urging the fbi director to hold a press conference
in order to update the american people on exactly what the fbi is investigating in the ice
minnesota debacle obviously there's much to clarify here with a state insurrection that
has led to two people being killed.
The truth is that Mr. Patel has to get permission to do that from President Trump.
He can't unilaterally decide to meet the press.
That's because Donald Trump was burned so badly by Washington people in his first term.
He now runs a top-down operation.
All decisions come from the White House.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt did the same thing for 13 years.
He and a few cohorts made all the calls.
FDR even wanted to sidestep the Supreme Court.
Congress blocked him, but he would have done it.
It was amusing in a horrible way to see President Biden, the master of befuddlement,
blamed Trump yesterday for the Minnesota chaos.
Come on, Joe, you caused it with your amazingly irresponsible open border policy.
And now the nation's.
suffers. The truth is, it is up to Mr. Trump himself to get this thing under control.
And I believe he'll do it. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach
me. Bill at Bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine.
Now, Norman, why can the FBI our Homeland Security round up big-time funders of
insurrection like Singham and Floris, throw them in jail.
You can't round up anybody.
Can't have evidence.
Now, we're pushing for very aggressive investigation.
You can't round them up.
You can in China.
I'm on.
Bill, I assume that nothing can be done against Neville Roy Singham, as he conveniently
pulls the strings from China, but can anything be done about the U.S. outfits which
use funds to foster violence?
Of course.
It's conspiracy.
That's what the FBI has got to prove.
You've got to go in and get.
All these people should go down, all of them.
Charlotte, can the news media be sued for lying?
No.
They can lie their butts off.
They have protections in that area.
If they lie about you, Charlotte, and defame you and you get hurt, you can sue them big time.
Steve, concierge member, Steve's life is now better because he's under our protection.
That's what concierge membership is.
All right?
Bill O'Reilly.com, check it out.
It's an insurance policy and not expensive.
Get a signed book by me if you sign up.
Steve says, thanks for starting to get the heart of these radical anarchist movements.
I know you hate cliches, but you can't deny the validity of follow the money.
There's a lot of money going into Minneapolis to disrupt, and that has led to death.
No doubt about it.
Stephen Halleck, Wannock, Wannock, New Jersey.
You said Neville Roy Shingham is funding the rebellion of Minnesota so the Chinese bosses
must know what he's doing.
The U.S. is China's largest trading partner, so why they want to destabilize us?
Because they want to be the world's most dominant power.
That's what it.
That's what it is.
Putin will never be the world's most dominant power, but China might be.
They want to weaken us.
In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might, not know.
107 years ago today, acting Secretary of State Frank Polk
certified a ratification of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution.
Despite opposition from President Woodrow Wilson,
it would soon be illegal for all Americans to buy, sell, or transport alcohol.
Here is the story behind Prohibition.
The movement to ban booze began after the Civil War when thousands of injured vets abused alcohol to cope with physical and emotional pain.
Even General Ulysses Grant struggled with alcohol.
In December 1917, the 18th Amendment was passed by Congress.
President Wilson vetoed it.
The legislature overrode Wilson.
By January 1920, the United States had become a dry nation, at least in theory,
But once implemented, the ban on alcohol was a total failure.
Consumption of booze remained the same.
Prohibition forced the alcohol industry underground, creating a criminal underworld dominated by
gangsters like Al Capone and Lucky Luciano.
Like the modern-day narcotics trade, international operations were created to smuggle
booze into the USA.
Distillers in the Caribbean and Canada ship,
the cargo to Long Island, for example. And from where I live, organized crime syndicists
distributed the contraband to Manhattan, Philadelphia, and Chicago. During the Great Depression,
politicians decided the people deserved a drink. Congress then passed a 21st Amendment
in 1933, repealing prohibition. And here's something else you might not know. Today, Americans
are consuming more alcohol than ever before.
Recent Paul from Gallup finds 70% of Americans consider themselves regular drinkers.
Half of adults say they need at least one libation to relax.
The most popular spirit remains the same since the Civil War, whiskey.
For more incredible stories about the government's efforts to take down the bootleggers,
and dismantle organized crime in America.
