Bill O'Reilly here Friday, January 3, 2020. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Here is what's happening today in America. After years of non-stop investigations and nearly a month of public testimony, the House of Representatives has voted along party lines to impeach President Donald Trump for obstruction of Congress and abuse of power. In a rather bizarre twist, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now refuses to send the impeachment articles to the Senate so a trial can begin. If Ms. Pelosi ever decides to transmit the documents, a trial will commence

presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts. The lawmakers will examine the evidence the House is put together and then cast votes. A two-thirds majority of senators is needed to remove President Trump. That, of course, will not happen, as no Republicans at this point have endorsed removing the president. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has stated, quote, there is no scenario where Donald Trump is convicted and removed on such flimsy evidence. As for the abuse of power charge, I could have been lodged against every single chief executive who has served. Think JFK and the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba.

Consider George W. Bush and the invasion of Iraq, which did not go well. Contemplate Abraham Lincoln suspending habeas corpus. How about Barack Obama misleading Americans about the federally funded health care? You can keep your doctor if you want to. As for the folks, well, many are not really engaged in the impeachment situation. By this time, some Americans understand the ruse, regardless of whether they support Donald Trump or not, and people are too busy to tune in and listen to partisan bickering. New polling confirms the majority of Americans don't want the president removed from office,

even though most of the media does. According to Quintipa Act, 51% of registered voters now oppose the impeachment exercise. Recent survey from Zogby shows President Trump is enjoying a 50% job approval rating, a big jump since the Democrats began the impeachment process. Fueling Mr. Trump's improving numbers, independent voters. And those numbers may go even higher when a trial in the U.S. Senate begins, which may be why Speaker Pelosi is not sending the articles over. Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day, a fair look at the presidential election, which will be perhaps a most important vote of our lifetimes. And it's coming up in just nine months. President Trump is the odds-on favorite of betters. I'll get to that in a moment. And it's interesting to see the president. President's strengths and weaknesses. Obviously, the economy is good. It benefits working Americans, minority Americans. There are more jobs now than in any time in the past 40 years. Wages are

rising. People feel more secure. That's huge. And President Trump campaigned on the jobs promise that he would do better than Barack Obama did, and that has come to pass. Also, the nation is fairly stable overseas. We have our controversies, but no ongoing wars. The trade snafu seems to be working in our favor. The border is getting tighter. And in general, the United States of America is growing in strength. Now, the president's weaknesses are personal. He tweets all the time. Some of the tweets are foolish and engender controversies that we don't need. They distract from very important things. The press hates Donald Trump.

That's not entirely his fault, but he does antagonize the media. All of those are weaknesses. Many Americans are tired of the controversies. So with Donald Trump, his record is pretty strong, but his personal profile hurts him. Now, on the Democratic side, I have predicted Joe Biden will be the nominee, and he leads in the polls. But Mr. Biden's weakness is that he seems befuddled. He's an older guy. he has that terrible Ukraine situation around his neck.

His son received millions of dollars for doing nothing. And as Vice President, Joe Biden went over to Ukraine and threatened the nation. That's not good. And that will be there throughout the entire campaign. Mr. Biden's strengths are that he was vice president under Barack Obama for eight years. And Mr. Obama continues to be very popular among Democrats, African Americans like Joe Biden. Bernie Sanders tops out at about 22 percent, and he's not going to get any stronger than that. He's a socialist. He wants to seize private property. Americans in general don't want that.

Sanders is a lively guy, but he's not going to get the nomination. Elizabeth Warren, a senator from Massachusetts, another socialist, and she is fading because she wants to spend hundreds of trillions of dollars on entitlements, which is impossible, would bankrupt the entire nation and collapse the economy, and thinking America. understand that. Now, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, 38 years old, he's coming up in the polls. Now, his strength is he's very articulate. He's got a very left-wing point of view, but he doesn't come across as crazy. His weakness is that he ran a very small town in the Midwest, and African Americans don't like him at all. The Democratic Party in general is being run by the far left,

and a lot of Americans are very, very angry about that. In London, where they take bets on the upcoming presidential election, Donald Trump is the heavy favorite, with Joe Biden being second. It is illegal to bet on the presidential race in the USA, although we know a lot of people do it. On all, impossible to predict right now, but Donald Trump has an advantage. since the Iranian attacks on Saudi oil fields earlier this year. American troops can be found all over the world and, in the near future, will be found out of this world as well. well. President Trump's signing of Space Directive 4 calls for the creation of a six branch of the armed forces, the Space Force.
