Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It is Friday, January 31st, 2025.
Here's what's happening today in America latest on the terrible crash.
RFK hearing, take two, gun law overturned, and Dems are in a giant hole.
It's all coming up.
Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day, but first, the National Transportation Safety
board, which is leading the investigation into the crash at Reagan Airport, said that the plane's
flight data and voice recorders, known as the Black Box, has been recovered. The NTSB hopes to have
a preliminary report ready within 30 days. Someone who serves in the same unit as that Army Black Hawk
crew and who knew the victims personally and has flown this route many times said that this was
a training flight and these types of training flights are not unusual at all. They're flown almost every
day. The co-pilot was going through her annual evaluation for night flying. I've talked to a
couple different Black Hawk helicopter pilots who said that these night vision goggles require a lot
of training. It's a very perishable skill. And one of the difficult things when you're wearing them
is depth perception. And also runway 33, this is where the regional jet was landing, is not used
nearly as often as runway one. And the people on the Black Hawk appear to have confused the passenger
jet with another plane that was on runway one.
RFK Jr. had his second and final committee hearing yesterday, and it really comes down to
one Republican.
The HELP committee, it's the committee on health, education, labor, and pensions.
There's 11 Republicans and 10 Democrats.
If one Republican votes against RFK moving to the floor, then that's it.
He doesn't go to the floor.
And it comes down to Senator Bill Cassidy.
He's the top Republican in that committee's from Louisiana.
He said he's, quote, struggling with the nomination of Kennedy due to his vaccine positions.
Bill Cassidy is a gastroenterologist by trade.
The Gun Control Act says that shotguns and rifles, an ammunition for shotguns and rifles,
can be sold to anyone 18 years or older.
But anything other than a shotgun or rifle, a handgun, can only be sold to people 21 and older.
Well, a three-judge panel in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that that is unconstitutional.
The ruling concluded that people include 18, 19, and 20-year-olds, too.
The Gun Control Act was passed in 1968.
I've never seen a poll like this in my life.
It's never been this bad.
A Quinn-Piac poll, 31% of voters have a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party.
31%, 57 unfavorable.
That's 26 points underwater for the Democrats.
The Democratic Party has never been more unpopular in modern American history.
I'm Mike Slater from the podcast, Politics by Faith, Bill O'Reilly, with your message of the day.
Next.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Friday, so another day, another controversy.
President Trump says he may order the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba to house
30,000 undocumented migrants. As you may know, Gitmo, as it is called, was used as a prison
for jihadists after the 9-11 attack. The United States leased the base after the Spanish-American
War in 1903, and we've controlled the area ever since. In 2003, 680 accused terrorists were
held there, a long way from the 30,000 migrant number. Just 15 terrorists remained.
today in Gitmo.
Now, I've reported from the base twice in 2002, 2006, and it's no gulag.
Isolated, yes, but it's clean, prisoner food good, very nice ocean views.
You don't want to jump in the ocean because there's sharks, but you can look at it.
However, there's nobody signing up to go to Guantanamo Bay, and that's the point.
President Trump is scaring potential undocumented people.
Just in 10 days, border intrusions are down more than 50% from the last weeks of President Biden.
Mr. Trump says he will only send criminals to the camp, not women and children.
But worldwide, the message is certainly getting out.
No more easy ride for undocumented folks in the USA.
I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.
You can reach me.

Now let's go to the mail.
Shelley on the message board, when I first began watching the NOSPA News, I defended Robert
Kenny Jr. and hoped he would succeed in wherever President Trump wanted him to be.
Now, after listening to you, O'Reilly, and doing a bit of research myself, find myself an agreement
that he should not be head, the head of the Department of Human Services.
Okay, everybody's entitled their opinion.
I think we've given Kennedy a fair hearing here.
We got Matthew Tuttle saying, I have to disagree with you about RFK Jr.
I think he's more than qualified to do the job.
I saw you on Cuomo and I just disagree.
Okay, we like that.
We like disagreement.
We're not in this for choir practice here.
We want to hear your point of view.
Jeff Callan, Phoenix, Arizona, Bill is it me.
or was the White House explanation for the drones, a lame non-answer?
It was pretty lame.
I got to say it was pretty lame.
We knew about it was research.
Research for what?
Why would you put them up over New Jersey?
What are you doing?
Pizza?
You're doing.
It was pretty lame.
You're right, Jeff.
Trolaki, Prynville, Oregon.
I speculate that President Biden did not pardon, Jill.
so she can simply plead the Fifth Amendment if called in to testify.
Now, spouses can't testify against one another.
It's illegal.
So that's not the reason.
No, Jill, you can't call Jill, talk about Jill, or Joe to talk about Jill.
Michael Toma, Damascus, Maryland.
For Christmas, my wife surprised me with killing the witches and killing the killers.
Already finished both, and I had previously read Killing Crazy Horse.

legendary performer Neil Diamond celebrated his 84th birthday.
Though the singer has faded, his songs remain popular in many precincts.
Here is the story.
Born in Brooklyn, young Neil got his first guitar at the age of 16.
He joined the chorus at Erasmus Hall High School, playing alongside another future celebrity,
Barbara Streisand.
After a brief stint at New York University, Neil Diamond began his career writing songs for other musicians,
including I Am a Believer by The Monkees.
In 1967, Neil began releasing his own records.
Two years later, he hit number one with Sweet Caroline.
Touching hands.
Reaching out.
Touching me.
Touching you.
Caroline, the times never seemed so good.
In total, Neil Diamond has released 32 studio albums, eight live records, two film soundtracks,
appeared on 35 duets, global sales, 130 million records.
Wow.
In 2017, the singer embarked on his final live tour.
Two years later, Sweet Caroline was added to the Library of Congress for, quote, being
culturally and historically significant.
Today, Mr. Diamond is retired from the music business after being diagnosed with Parkinson's.
He and his wife, Katie, live in Beverly Hills, California, and Aspen, Colorado.
And here's something else you might not know.
The song Sweet Caroline remains very popular, especially in Boston.
In 1997, the music manager at Fenway Park played the song to honor a friend
who recently gave birth to a daughter named Caroline.
The single soon became an anthem for the Red Sox.
2013, Neil Diamond performed the tune at Fenway Park
after the Boston Marathon bombing.
When recently asked about the meaning behind the song,
Neil Diamond confirmed the lyrics are really about
JFK's daughter, Caroline.
Back after this.
