But first, the terrorist who killed 14 people in New Orleans. The FBI said he made two previous trips to the city. October and November, scouting out the right location, and he used a pair of meta glasses to record as he was riding a bicycle through the French quarter. The FBI said he was wearing those glasses during the attack, but they said he didn't record or even attempt to live stream it. He was stopped when he had a forklift. He was killed by police in a shootout. The FBI says he placed two IEDs, explosive devices, bombs, on Bourbon Street in two different coolers. The Justice Department, going after everyone involved in January 6th of four years ago,

made it the largest criminal investigation in American history. 1,570 people were charged in connection with what happened. 460 of those were given prison sentences. 718 guilty pleas were secured by the prosecutors. And 171 people were found guilty at trial. But believe it or not, we're four years later. They're still pending the outcomes of 300. cases and the defendants are stalling until Trump gets in office.

Trump said the pardons would start in the first hours that he gets into office. 70 million people are under winter alerts, snow, ice, blizzards in some locations, winds reaching 50 miles per hour, NOAA warning that some places could see more snow than they've received over the past decade. Four million people under a blizzard warning. I saw one reporter in Kansas City in reporting out in the blizzard conditions with lightning a thunder blizzard i've never seen that before the weather service in kansas said if you're thinking about hitting the road today think again snow plows are getting stuck emergency vehicles are getting stuck and if you get stuck it may be over 24 hours until someone gets to you temperatures will fall below

resolutions kind of guy but i do believe that we can all improve our lives and our circumstances and that is a good thing, all right, an outlook to improve. So, first of all, I've got to be more patient. I am the most impatient person, and I get a lot done. I do more in a day than most 30-year-olds doing a week, but I got to cap it because when you get impatient, you don't treat people the way you should, and I'm recognizing that is a big deficit,

so I'm going to be more patient. Then I'm going to get more rest because I'm tired a lot because I'm an old. I'm an old guy now, 50 years, 50, 50, 50, 50, 5-0 in the journalism industry. I got to get more rest. I'm going to do the Winston Churchill, half-hour nap thing. But the more rest that I am, the better I am. Then I'm going to do more power walks. So this was a tactic developed by Julius Caesar and the Roman army.

And you walk very quickly. And I'm going to do more power walks. And I'm going to do more reading of the classics. I got Hemingway and Mark Twain teed up. Look back. You can learn from those guys. I'm going to do more of that. And most of all, in 2025, I'm going to have more laughs.

Once I get your information, they can do a lot of bad things to you. If somebody is emailing you and you don't know who they are, don't take it. They don't do business that way. If the post office has something of yours, they will put it in writing and it'll be in your mailbox.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. For most folks, New Year's Day has come and gone. Around the world, people on every continent rang in 2025 with friends, fireworks, a few drinks. you know, that's how it goes. But not every culture marks the new year on the 1st of January. Here are some examples. In Asia, folks in China follow the lunar calendar. The format was developed by the Shang Dynasty 4,000 years ago. Ancient astronomers used the cycles of the moon to mark historical events. The Chinese New Year falls between January 21st and February 20th, different day each year. The North Korean calendar begins the year that the late

communist dictator Kim Il-Zong was born. See, there was nothing before Kim. For residents in Yang Yang, for example, it is only year 113. Next, the Islamic world. Calendar is tied to the Prophet Mohammed's migration to Saudi Arabia. Each month starts with a crescent moon. That symbol has been adopted as a global checkpoint of the Muslim faith. New Year's Day, July 7th for the Muslims. Over to India, a country of 1.4 billion people is so diverse. The government in New Delhi recognizes eight separate calendars. That could get confusing. The Hindu, Bengali, Islamic, and Sikh. In Ethiopia, the timetable originates

from the Coptic Christian faith. It consists of 13 months of 30 days. Ethiopians mark the new year on September 11. The Jewish calendar is tied to the Old Testament, starting with the book of Genesis. Rabbis believe the creation of the world occurred in the year 3761 BC. The Hebrew year is calculated by adding that
