Former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory here filling in for Bill O'Reilly.
It's Monday, July 1st, 2019.
You're listening to the O'Reilly Update, and here's what's happening across our nation.
President Trump makes history during his trip to South Korea.
Congress passes a $4.6 billion emergency border aid bill,
violence in the streets of Portland, as far left.
demonstrators brutally attack a journalist. Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden again under fire
for comments made about the gay community. And listen to this, Nestle Tull House makes a delicious
announcement about the future of cookie dough, just what we want and don't need. Also coming up,
Bill's message of the day, but first to the Far East. Good news, President Trump made history
this weekend becoming the first United States president to step on to North Korean soil.
The moment came during a last-minute meeting on Sunday between President Trump and North Korean leader
Kim Jong-un at the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.
During the meeting, the president announced that the U.S. and North Korea would resume
stalled nuclear talks within weeks.
On the domestic front, finally progress.
on immigration. President Trump is expected to sign an emergency border aid bill after the
moderate Democrat-led House members forced Nancy Pelosi to pass the measure last week. The $4.6 billion
funding bill passed through the House by a margin of 305 to 102 after sailing through the Senate
earlier in the week. A left-wing demonstration in Portland, Oregon turned violent over the weekend.
as the far-left group Antifa brutally attacked and hospitalized journalist Andy Nigo.
Portland police are still searching for suspects.
Here we go again.
Another political misstep?
Former Vice President Joe Biden is facing a backlash after suggesting that mocking a gay waiter
would have been socially acceptable just five years ago.
Biden made the remarks at a fundraising event in Seattle hosted by former Michael,
President John Shirley and faced immediate criticism from those in attendance.
And finally, fans of raw cookie dough are in for a treat. Nestle Tull House announced this weekend
that has developed cookie dough that's safe to eat without baking. I didn't know it already
wasn't safe to eat. Anyway, the treat will come in two flavors and is set to roll out in a grocery
store near you this summer. Coming up, Bill's message of the day. Well, you've been hearing about
gold all over the news and prices keep going up. Experts warning a recession may be coming,
and it's time to prepare. A recent analyst this week says he sees gold going up hundreds of

There has always been a divide between older folks and youth. It's normal. Experience versus energy.
But today in America, the divide may be at historic levels. And because of that, there is danger to the nation.
Let's start with the Green New Deal. All Americans should keep an open mind about climate change.
and support treating the Earth more gently.
There are nearly 8 billion human beings on the planet.
Clean energy, protecting nature, and zero tolerance for littering, all are important.
But ranked speculation and empowering anti-freedom programs are even more dangerous than lacks
environmental enforcement.
Younger Americans seem almost eager to have government bureaucrats tell them what to eat,
what doctor to see, what appliance to use. A handful of Democratic presidential candidates
are promising to do just that. Universal health care, Medicare for all, debt-free college,
guaranteed jobs, guaranteed income, near impossible environmental regulations. The list goes on
for the far-left candidates. The Green New Deal is based on totalitarianism, a central authoritarianism, a central
authority that compels individual behavior or else. Do Beto O'Rourke or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
even understand that? I don't know. It seems based upon the polling that many younger
Americans seek dependence on government. They embrace the nanny state. No longer is
Horace Greeley's self-reliance go-west young man relevant.
Greeley, an American writer in the 19th century,
urge young Americans to be self-reliant,
make their own way out west where there was opportunity.
But today, it's, we'll take care of you, young people.
Don't you worry about it.
The move toward dependency is selfish.
I want stuff.
Please give me stuff.
That, of course, includes protection against climate
and a permissive culture that allows individuals to avoid responsibility for their actions.
Want to be a drug addict? Fine. We'll support you.
A few weeks ago, I took some teens to the Santa Monica Pier in L.A.
Hundreds of children were having fun on the rides, playing the games,
but there they were, the public pot smokers, getting high right in front of the kids.
Did they care? No, they did not. They are selfish people, and society no longer calls them out.
What younger Americans will lose if the dependency and permissivist continues is personal motivation,
the will to accomplish things on your own. The leftists understand that young people are a power base for them,
and therefore feed youth a steady stream of gibberish about socialism and environmental doom,
hoping to brainwash them. It's all about gaining power, of course. Give the folks pot and
circuses, keep them distracted and inebriated. Wives up, young Americans, you're being used.

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory here, filling in for Bill O'Reilly.
And now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
You know, although most politicians are only talking about the crisis at the Mexican border with California,
Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, did you know that we spend billions of dollars each year at our
other ports of entry for ships, planes, and vehicles? In addition to close to 700,000 land
travelers coming into the United States every day, are customs processes over 340,000
incoming international air passengers and crew members per day at American airports. For
some perspective, that's the entire population of Riverside, California entering through our airports
every single day. It is at these airports that custom officials and airport security check
American and foreign travelers' documents, ensuring the safety of our food being brought into
our country, they search for drugs, and work to prevent infectious diseases from spreading
throughout America. Do the Democratic candidates actually understand if we decriminalize
illegal entry at American Southern border, we'd have to do the same at our airports?
Can you imagine if a passenger disembarking a plane at, say, Kennedy Airport, just said,
oh, what the hell, we'll run through customs and stop for nobody? All hell would break loose.
guns would be pulled, alarms would go off, and an immediate chase would ensue, and rightly so.
But according to every Democratic presidential candidate, it should become a matter of U.S. policy
that our agents say, oh, what the heck, let him go.
And while we're at it, let's offer him a free health insurance plan for him and his family.
You know, it's time we get serious about the real implications of open border rhetoric disguised as
compassion. The Democratic agenda may sound quite nice, but the United States government's first
obligation is to the safety of its citizens. That means keeping track of who and what enters through
our borders, whether by land, air, or sea. We'll be right back. The housing market on fire all over
the country with interest rates falling. It's a great time to sell your home. If you want to sell or buy,
