Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here Friday, July 19th, 2019. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Here's what's happening today in America. President Trump continues to benefit from a growing stock market and strong economic news. According to a new Rasmussen poll, Mr. Trump currently enjoys a 50% approval rating, a four-point jump since his controversial tweets targeting the four Democratic Radical Congresswomen. That began earlier this week, as you may know. Now, the strong rhetoric urging Democrats to, quote, go back to their home countries, prompted the progressives to demand President Trump be removed from office. Make no mistake, the radical wing of the Democratic Party is now setting the liberal agenda. Congresswomen Ocasio-Cortez,
Starting point is 00:00:56 Talib, Omar, and Presley are demanding Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi began impeachment proceedings. But a vote in the House Thursday shot that down big time, 332 to 95 against proceeding with impeachment right now. That's because just 37% of Americans support impeachment proceedings against President Trump, while 59% oppose, including a clear majority of independence, as a 13-point jump in opposition since August of 2018. This is not the first time the U.S. has been in this situation. Historically, impeachment has been very risky. In 1868, Andrew Johnson, who replaced the assassinated Abraham Lincoln, was impeached.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Congress claiming he violated the Tenure of Office Act. when he removed Secretary of War, Edwin Stanton from office. But the real reason was massive corruption in the South during Reconstruction after the Civil War. Well, President Johnson survived by one vote in the Senate, 35 to 19, and finished his term. Bill Clinton, as you may know, began impeachment in October 1998. Congress said he lied under oath, committed perjury, obstructed justice because of his relationship with Monica Lewinsky. But Mr. Clinton sailed through on the perjury count in the Senate, 45. Yes, 55, no. By the way, when the president left office, President Clinton, his approval rating was 73%. Bottom line, Donald Trump will not be impeached. Coming up, the message of the day, the truth about income equality in America. Next. Bad parenting, bad parenting, not capitalism, is the main cause of income inequality in this country. The left, including liberal educators, media, and politicians will never admit that. But it's absolutely true.
Starting point is 00:04:22 We begin with education. If a young child is not exposed to learning by age two, that innocent, helpless person is already at risk in a competitive society. If there are no books in the home, no awareness-building games, no fun dialogue with parents, the child may not develop a curiosity about life. And that, in America, is figurative death. As a child gets older, parents must participate in the learning process, emphasizing the tremendous importance of academic discipline
Starting point is 00:04:58 and monitoring schoolwork on a daily basis. But millions of American parents simply refuse to do that. Now the environment. If the home is full of conflict, loud noise, unpredictable behavior by one parent or both, the young child may not develop intellectual skills and will likely be unsteady and insecure. Then there is the work ethic.
Starting point is 00:05:24 If a child does not understand that accomplishment is based on performance, doom is nearby. Many parents, unfortunately, are irresponsible, lazy, apathetic, and self-absorbed, not much interested in their offspring. Then there are parents who abandon their children completely, surely reserving a prime spot for themselves in hell. As a high school teacher in the 1970s, I dealt with derelict parents, and they always had a basket full of excuses. But they all had one thing in common.
Starting point is 00:06:01 Their gratification was more important than the success of the child. Then there is a social aspect in America. Parents failing to teach their kids proper grammar, table manners, polite behavior, permissive mothers and fathers who allow kids to be tattooed and actually pay for skin piercings. Does anyone really think those things will lead to more economic opportunity in the future? Add it all up, and the heavy odds are the neglected child will not become well-educated or be able to command much money in the marketplace. Therefore, they are likely to be poor and bitter to boot. Now, politicians like Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren tell us that the federal
Starting point is 00:06:50 government will provide for children who are mistreated by their parents. That is a false promise. But Republicans are misleading the country as well by failing to actively promote good parenting and self-reliance based on smart, disciplined behavior. When was the last time the GOP put that in their platform. How about never? It's too risky for politicians to call out bad parents, even though they are the primary source of generational failure. Income inequality will get worse in the USA because parenting is getting worse. That's the cold truth that the presidential debates will never reveal. No political system can nurture individuals so they can achieve success if the basics of personal responsibility and education are absent. And only parents can instill those basics.
Starting point is 00:07:45 That is a message. More honest analysis on Bill O'Reilly.com. Check it out. You'll be happy you did. Millions of dollars are spent each year to not only produce the next blockbuster, but to promote it as well. That has to be done to recoup the money.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Now, the budgets today are astronomical. TV commercials, online ads, social media campaigns, all beckoning folks to throw down their hard-earned cash on a little entertainment. But during the golden age of film, long before, online video ads, studio executives used another way to get the word out about a movie, hand-drawn posters. Illustrated by the best artists of the day, those posters were true works of art living under the marquee for months into theaters, making a significant impact on a movie's bottom line. Big studios like Columbia, MGM, 20th Century Fox, knew the value of a great poster. But the value of those posters today is something you might not know.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Original posters for horror movies like 1931, Dracula and 1933, The Mummy, can bring close to a half million dollars at auction if the poster is in good condition. Academy Award winner Casablanca has international posters worth $500,000 as well. I'll spare you my Bogart impression. An original one sheet, as they are called, of 1927's London after Middite, the silent mystery film starring Lon Cheney, $475,000 at auction. That's almost half of what the movie took in at the box office. And finally, Metropolis, the international poster for Fritz Lang's 1927 science fiction film,
Starting point is 00:11:00 went for a staggering $690,000 in a recent auction. There are only four copies of that Metropolis poster known to exist. So have a look around Grandma's Attic. If you find an old movie poster, especially one featuring movie monsters, they may be worth a lot of money. One more thing, perhaps the most valuable movie poster of all time? The original Wizard of Oz. More in a moment.
Starting point is 00:11:32 It's an uncertain world out there. You know that. Disaster can strike at any time. So you need to be prepared to protect yourself and your family. One way to do that is with freeze-dried food. It tastes good. It's healthy. It can be stored for 25 years.
