Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Tuesday, July 22nd, 2025. Here's what's happened today in America. MLK files released. Hunter Biden interview. Airplane swerves. And Newsom makes a very serious demand. That's all coming up. And Bill is going to be here with your message of the day, but first, the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, announced the release of 230,000 files related to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. The Reverend was assassinated in Memphis
Starting point is 00:00:37 on April 4th, 1968, only at the age of 39. James Earl Ray, a convicted robber and prison escapee, was identified as King's killer after his fingerprints were found on a rifle used in the assassination and discarded near the murder scene. In March 1969, Ray pleaded guilty to King's murder to avoid the death penalty and was sentenced to 99 years in prison. He died there in 1998. The King family said during our father's lifetime, he was relentlessly targeted by an invasive predatory and deeply disturbing disinformation
Starting point is 00:01:08 and surveillance campaign orchestrated by J. Edgar Hoover through the FBI. The intent of the government's campaign was not only to monitor, but to discredit, dismantle and destroy Dr. King's reputation and the broader American civil rights movement. Hunter Biden for some reason was on a podcast where he said of George Clooney, blank him and everybody around him. George Clooney is not a blanking actor.
Starting point is 00:01:32 He's a brand. James Carville hasn't won a race in 40 blanking years. David Axelrod had one success in his political life and that was Barack Obama. And that was because of Barack Obama. The Pod Save America guys were junior blanking speech writers on Barack Obama's Senate staff and had been dining out on the relationship with him making millions.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Anita Dunn had made $40, $50 million off the Democratic party. What influence does Jake Tapper have over anything? He has the smallest audience on cable news. He also said of illegal aliens, before you go agreeing with Hunter too much, he said of illegal aliens, how do you think your hotel room gets cleaned?
Starting point is 00:02:04 How do you think you have food on your blanking table? Who do you think washes your dishes? Who do you think does your blanking garden? Ah, the old Democratic party, you can't take our slaves away argument. Gavin Newsom has demanded the immediate withdrawal of all soldiers from Los Angeles after the Pentagon said they'd be pulling Marines from the city. President Donald Trump federalized the California National Guard last month against Newsom's wishes and sent the Marines to protect federal sites
Starting point is 00:02:30 from the anti-ice riots. There were 4,000 National Guard soldiers. Now only 2,000 remain. A pilot of a regional airliner made a sharp turn to avoid a B-52 bomber over North Dakota. There's a recording of the pilot then going over the intercom system to the passengers explaining what happened. He said, sorry about the aggressive maneuver. Called me by surprise.
Starting point is 00:02:53 This is not normal at all. I don't know why they didn't give us a heads up. I'm Mike Slater. I have a podcast called Politics by Faith with the great Bill O'Reilly. He has your message of the day. Next. Hey, I'm Caitlin Becker, the host of the New York Postcast, and I've got exactly what you need to start your weekdays.

Starting point is 00:03:31 or wherever you get your podcasts. Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day. On this Tuesday, fair-minded Americans should be very skeptical about the Epstein reporting because at this point it's mostly agenda driven. Facts are few, shallow opinions many. The Trump administration is smart to support the release of the grand jury testimony against the heinous criminal. Let's see what the jurors hurt without ideological filters.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Federal judges can make the files public with redactions if necessary. That absolutely should happen to restore a measure of confidence to the justice system in this country. While we wait, there's the usual phony political garbage. Democrats had the Epstein information during the Biden years and there was no clamor for any release of it. Now there is. Wonder why. Then there's what I call the woodwork factor. Almost every day the hate Trump media comes up with someone to pose new accusations against the president. Tidious, dishonest. Hey, where were they? Finally,
Starting point is 00:04:49 President Trump is suing the Wall Street Journal saying the newspaper ran a false story about a birthday card he allegedly sent to Epstein before the crimes were known. A forensics expert could assess the situation. If Donald Trump did not write the card with a little illustration, more major media trouble will explode. The president filed a suit within 48 hours, so that's interesting. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.
Starting point is 00:05:21 You can reach me, bill at billoerily.com, bill at billoReilly.com, name in town if you wish to opine. All right, email, we got James. I doubt Colbert's political stance had much to do with his termination because his program lost money. They keep the view around and they're just as bad as Colbert, but they're making a little bit of money from their idiotic audience members. It's true economics played a big role in Colbert's demise, but he could have done much better if he had been shrewd about it, but he wasn't. Sandra, concierge member, Sandra direct line to me. Thank you Sandra.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Bill you have been saying the network's a doom since the first Trump administration, yet they're still there. Of course they're there, but they're, you know, over the cliffs. Andrew, it takes a little while. They'll always be there. They're not going to have a test pattern. Kim Davis, Orlando, Florida, why does the news media think the Epstein sex trafficking is more important than a cartel sex trafficking? I never hear about that. because Trump's tied into it. Come on
Starting point is 00:06:29 Sandra, you know what the game is. If you can tie Trump into anything heinous that's what the press is gonna do. Victor O'Brien, Sylvia, North Carolina. Bill Yeranthro, a list of Democrats are now being called into the House to testify about Biden's mental acuity, but I noticed that Vice President Harris is not included. The Oversight Committee didn't subpoena her, didn't request her presence. I don't know why. I would have. Tommy Bergeron, Omaha, Louisiana. I'm curious to see if you've reviewed the files of JFK that Congresswoman Annapolina Luna has said that the CIA withheld from the Warren Commission. I have reviewed. You know, on the YouTube, I'm getting into Congresswoman Luna and what she said,
Starting point is 00:07:22 but I'll just give you a preview. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Zero. So, you know, watch the YouTube thing. I'll back it all up in a moment. Something you might not know. Hey, Mike Baker here, host of the President's Daily Brief podcast. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. 132 years ago today, an American poet penned one of the most patriotic anthems of all time. Here's the story behind America the Beautiful. The words are written by Catherine Lee Bates, a 33-year-old English teacher from Massachusetts. She wrote them after a camping trip to Colorado. The music was composed a few years later by organist Samuel War. He wrote the tune while
Starting point is 00:08:39 riding on a ferry between Brooklyn and Manhattan. War died in 1903, Bates in 1929. Neither knew the full impact of their work. Today, America the Beautiful remains one of the most performed songs in the USA, second only to the Star-Spangled Banner. The tune has been recorded 3,000 times by various artists over the decades. The most popular, Ray Charles. I have to say that's my favorite version recorded by Mr. Charles in 1972. And here's something else you might not know. Since the administration of JFK, a growing movement has called for America the Beautiful to replace the Star-Spangled Banner as the official national anthem.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Advocates say the song touts the natural splendor and landscape of the USA without the banner's reference to warfare, exploding bombs, and slavery. Well, that will never happen. Even though America the Beautiful is easier to sing, the Star-Spangled Banner reflects a key part of our history, the War of 1812, and is in its own way magnificent. Back after this. Hey, it's Sean Spicer from the Sean Spicer Show podcast, reminding you to tune into my show every day to get your daily dose inside the world of politics.
Starting point is 00:10:50 President Trump and his team are shaking up Washington like never before, and we're here to cover it from all sides, especially on the topics the mainstream media won't.
