Bill O'Reilly here Friday, July 24th, 2020. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Here's what's
happening today in America. Since the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25th,
country has witnessed anti-police protests in more than 100 cities. The destruction is the
worst seen since the civil unrest of the Vietnam War era. In New York City, crime, now out of
of control. Shootings up, 277% compared to 2019. Homicide spiking 30%. Riots in early June
demolished more than 100 businesses in the city, creating more than $25 million in damage.
300 police officers were injured in the chaos. The district attorney in New York, Cyrus Vance,
refusing to charge most of those arrested, including Mayor de Blasio's daughter.
This is a dereliction of duty by Mr. Vance.
Let's go to Portland, Oregon, now on its eighth week of daily protests.
Demonstrators there targeting local police precincts and federal property.
The city's far-left mayor refusing any help from the Trump administration,
saying the situation is under control, which it is not,
Just last night, the protesters turned on Wheeler, threw things at him, cursed him.
One Oregon congressman insists the rioters are, quote, some people who have strong feelings.
Yeah, and like to set fire some of them and will hurt you some of them.
In Chicago, gun violence setting new records.
At least 411 people have been killed so far this year.
Mayor Lightfoot criticizing the president.
insisting he has no real interest in helping the windy city, even though the Department of Homeland
Security is deploying 150 agents to help stop the murders and shootings in Chicago.
I believe, Ms. Mayor, that's help. Is it not? In total, 20,000 people at least have been arrested
since June 1st in 50 states. More than 500 businesses destroyed in New York, Chicago.
Portland, Seattle, L.A. and other cities. Economists estimate the price tag tens of billions.
Despite the violence, American corporations like Google, Facebook, Apple, Walmart, Target, Nike,
McDonald's, all are bending a knee to the protests. It's pandering, pure and simple,
and the media cheering them on. Voters must remember all of this come November. In a moment,

First letter is from John in Oro Valley, Arizona.
Bill, don't you find it incredulous that Disney pulls advertising from Facebook because they say
Facebook has too much hatred, but then Disney turns a blind eye to their very own program,
The View, with its endless hate. It's a good point you're making, John. The View is off the
chart. It's a news show, if you can believe it. Disney, of course, owns ABC.
And with Joy Behar, there's hatred on display every day. And some of the other women contribute to that.
So if Disney's going to punish Facebook, it should punish itself, right?
Andy, St. Louis, despite any poll, I think Democrats are in a deceptively weak position.
They are in a way held hostage to the extreme side of their own ideology.
That is true somewhat, but I don't see the Democrat position is weak right now. I think Joe Biden
is a weak candidate, but the Democrats have control of a lot of cities, and the cities are where
most of the people live. So when you control Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, the three
larger cities in a country. Your party is not weak. Now, the Democratic message is muddled. It's basically
America's a bad country. There may be a fierce backlash against that. And that's what President
Trump is hoping for, Andy. But it's not a lock. It will be a very intense election cycle.
Lowell in Williamston, North Carolina. As anyone asked Joe Biden, if he will kneel for our national anthem,
I assume he has not been asked the question, but do you think any chance the question will be asked
in the debates? Loll, it's an excellent question, and I have co-opted it, Loll. I have to admit it.
I've used it. Will it be asked in the debates? No. The debates are not going to be fair
because they're going to be run by big news organizations that hate Trump. And nobody's going to put
Joe Biden on the spot. However, Donald Trump himself can ask that question, can turn to Joe
Biden and say, hey, you know, I'm curious about something, Joe. If you were a professional athlete,
would you kneel during the anthem? And if so, why? It's an excellent question,
and that's the kind of stuff that really gets to the heart of the matter. What does Joe Biden
believe about his country? Scott, Fair Oaks, California. Even if the left wins the election
and beyond, won't any of their loony policies be thrown out by the Supreme Court? Yes, yes,
some of them will. You try to impose a wealth tax that's clearly unconstitutional. That's
confiscation of private property. So yes, the Supreme Court can do that. But the damage that could
be done by a far-left agenda in this country off the chart. I'm Bill O'Reilly and I approved that message
by actually putting together the letters.

I couldn't believe we were being evicted from our home
that we didn't sell.
That's what Deborah said.
When she learned she was the victim of home title fraud,
a devastating crime. And title fraud is not covered by insurance or common identity theft services,
but you can trust home title lock to protect your home's title. Cyber thieves know the titles
to our homes are kept online. They can forge your name, stating you sold your home and then
refile as the new owner. In Debra's case, she didn't even know she was a victim until the eviction
notice arrived. Home title lock puts a virtual bed.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
Among the many handouts promised by the Democrats in recent months is student
debt forgiveness. Right now, education loans in the USA stand at more than $1.5 trillion
with a T dollars, the largest portion of non-housing debt in the country. With COVID, far-left
protesters, safe spaces, and campus protests, many Americans are asking themselves,
is college really worth it? The answer is maybe.
New Pole show teenagers are less likely to attend a four-year university than their parents were.
More than a third of millennials regret their decision to go to college.
The biggest factor for young folks, the cost.
College tuition is more than doubled since the 1980s.
The cost of college has also increased eight times faster than wages,
and just a third of students are able to find a job six months after they graduate.
The most expensive schools range between $50,000 and $60,000. The biggest price tag, Columbia University in New York City, $61,000, and that doesn't include food, lodging, or books. According to the U.S. Census,
34% of Americans have a four-year college degree, 34%, about a third of us. An average starting salary for those who have graduated college, $50,000.
10% have a two-year degree, starting salary, $42,000. 13% have a master's degree or higher, $78,000.
High school graduates start out making $30,000 a year, so that's a significant drop if you don't go to college.
This year, the average student will rack up $37,000 in debt, earning a four-year degree.
The number goes up to $65,000 for those pursuing a private.
school education. Double that if you plan on attending an Ivy League university. So it's no surprise
far-left policies like forgiving debt and now supported by a quarter of all college students.
It is expensive to go to college, but it will pay off not only in money, but knowledge is power.
