Resigns, eight casings, more cancellations, and an Olympic flame. That's all coming up. Then Bill is going to be here with your message of the day. But first, the head of the Secret Service has resigned after her disaster of a testimony
Starting point is 00:00:42 on Monday in Congress, not to mention her organization oversaw the near assassination of the foreign president of the United States in a statement. The White House said as a leader, it takes honor, courage, and incredible integrity to take full responsibility for an organization tasked with one of the most challenging jobs in public service. Not, I mean, hard, but, I mean, you've got to put someone on the roof. Meanwhile, the Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner had a testimony yesterday and revealed that two local law enforcement officers left a building that overlooked the roof where
Starting point is 00:01:20 they almost assassin fired his shots. The two officers were with the Butler County Emergency Services Unit, which is the tactical force with sniper abilities, they left their posts to look for a suspicious individual that they spotted first and alerted to other law enforcement. That person was the assassin and they were stationed in a window that was overlooking where he ended up taking the shots. The commissioner also said that eight casings were recovered. Also, you heard of the two police officers, one of them hoisted another up and was able to poke
Starting point is 00:01:53 his head out above the roof line and see the assassin. minutes went by between that moment and when President Trump was shot in the face, not seconds, minutes. Delta, still in bad shape. 5,500 cancellations since Friday, two-thirds of all the cancellations worldwide are Delta. On Monday, it was one-third of all their flights. The CEO of Delta said it would still take another couple days before the worst is behind us. The opening ceremonies for the Paris Olympics are on Friday, 1.30, Eastern time. They're going to last three hours.
Starting point is 00:02:28 These are the first opening ceremonies to not be in a stadium. The final steps of the Olympic flame will be carried by Snoop Dog for some reason. The big story of the day, Joe Biden will give a primetime address from the White House today at 8 p.m. Eastern on his decision to leave the race and why he will remain president for the next six months. I'm Mike Slater for the podcast Politics by Faith. Bill O'Reilly with your message today. Next. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress.

On this Wednesday, the head of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatel is out, gone, resign. She should have been fired the day after Donald Trump was shot.
Starting point is 00:04:18 What President Biden, I guess, just found out about the shooting, so Cheetahe will survive 10 days. which is ridiculous. You might have seen her testify in front of the House Oversight Committee on Monday. She was pathetic, hapless, embarrassing. Essentially, she pulled a Sergeant Schultz. I know nothing. My favorite part of her testimony came
Starting point is 00:04:42 when nine days after the shooting of Donald Trump, she said under oath that she did not know how a 20-year-old with a deadly weapon could climb to a rooftop with line of sight on Mr. Trump without being detective. She did not know. Then she said, they're investigating. Whoa, thank you. They're investigating. Even Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez was appalled. Ms. Cheadle should have been suspended, as I mentioned, right after the shooting, because this was
Starting point is 00:05:15 a debacle, a historical debacle. But only President Biden could do that. She works directly for the executive branch for him. And Biden did nothing. Surprised? Of course not. The man is completely disengaged from reality. So the Secret Service looking for a new head. You got a resume? Send it to D.C. You'd be better than she is. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. Chad Cosgrove, Lincoln, Nebraska, is it true that in some states Joe Biden's name cannot be taken off the ballot?
Starting point is 00:06:03 No. All states will have the ballot with Kamala Harris's name on it. Andrew, concierge member, thank you, Andrew. Thanks, Bill, for the special report after Joe Biden quit the race. Concerning your commentary on Harris' options for VP, I don't believe that today, there is any such thing as a moderate Democrat. Why? Because they all consistently vote and block on every progressive cause. That's true in Congress, but not governors and things like that. But you're right. They vote en masse in Congress. Very little dissent.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Rich Sastow, east northport, nice town, New York. Thanks, Bill, for the special report on Biden. You help me refrain from watch you all of the other pundits bloviate for hours. and that is a benefit for your life, Rich. It drives me crazy. I'm telling you, it drives me nuts to listen to these people, and they don't know anything. And they don't care, they don't know. It's not like they're seeking information.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Jeff Rogers, Massapequa, New York. Hey, Bill, I think it's a mistake for Republicans to be pushing for Biden to resign the presidency. It's no good reason to give Harris power to change the dynamic. If she became president before the election, She could close the border, open to strategic oral reserves, and name a swing state governor. Sure, but she can name a swing state governor now as a running mate, but he would be vice president, but he'd have to get through the congressional vote.
Starting point is 00:07:38 So it's a little complicated there, but you're right. She could do EO's executive orders and bolster her status. Patricia Griffiths, Hernando, Mississippi. I listened last evening to the no-spin news. I found your segment on how you knew Biden would remove himself for the election. It's insightful. Your passion for history and ability to watch, listen, and make assumptions reflects a God-given gift. I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:08:02 I think my talent is God-given. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. 55 years ago today, one of the most popular politicians in America, pleaded guilty to crimes related to a fatal car accident. Though a young woman died in the crash, the Democrat never spent one day in prison. Here's the story of Senator Edward Kennedy and Chappaquittic.
Starting point is 00:09:01 On July 18, 1969, Americans gathered around their TV sets to watch the Apollo 11 moon landing. Meantime, in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, Senator Kennedy and his cousin were hosting a cookout on nearby Chappaquitic Island. The party was a reunion for staffers of the slain Robert Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign. Following RFK's assassination one year earlier, Senator Kennedy assumed the family's presidential ambitions. By 1969, Kennedy was elected majority whip in the U.S. Senate. He was an early frontrunner for the 1972 Democratic nomination, which eventually went to George McGovern. Around 11 p.m., Ted Kennedy, a married man, left the cookout party with 28-year-old Mary Joe Capeckney. While driving down a beach road, Ted flipped his Oldsmobile off a wooden bridge and into a creek.
Starting point is 00:10:11 The senator escaped the car. Mary Joe did not. Kennedy then returned to his hotel room, changed clothes, went to bed. At 9.45, the next morning, 10 hours after the crash, Kennedy reported the accident to local police. Mary Jo's body was found in the wreckage. Well, Ted Kennedy vehemently denied he was drunk on drugs or having an affair with the young woman. He ultimately pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. He received a two-month suspended sentence, an outrageous dereliction of justice. the fix was in for Edward Kennedy.
Starting point is 00:10:54 But the death of Mary Joe ended his presidential prospects. Teddy Kennedy remained in the Senate until his death in 2009. He died at his home in Hyannisport, Massachusetts after a 15-month battle with brain cancer. Just 20 miles away from the scene of Chappaquinic. Back after this. Power, politics, and the people. behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One.
