You are listening to the O'Reilly. Friday update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, July 27th, 2026. Here's what's happening today in America.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Muslim attacks pride parade. Oil tanker explodes. Former NFL player deported and the 100-day countdown begins. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, a Muslim terrorist drove a van into a crowd of people at the Berlin Pride parade on Saturday. This ISIS-inspired terrorist, Abdul Balut, was shot and killed during a SWAT team operation. One person was killed, 19 injured. The SWAT team officers came under attack from the suspect with a knife after he was discovered hiding in a garden shed.
Starting point is 00:01:21 The officers opened fire. Abdul had made multiple attempts to join the Islamic State when overseas, including when he left Germany to go live in Lebanon. He was trying to get to Syria. Abdul's mother immigrated to Germany from Lebanon in 2002. An oil tanker exploded in the Strait of Hormuz after hitting a mine. An Iranian news source said the tanker struck the mine after leaving the designated route that Iran has created. Reportedly, Iran and Oman have made, quote, some progress over navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, but clearly not enough.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Daniel Agama Adongo. He was the first Kenyan to play in the end. NFL, the Colts signed him back in 2013. Well, ICE says that he overstayed his visa starting in 2016. That's the year his NFL career ended. An immigration judge ordered him removed in March. Since he was here illegally, he's been convicted of criminal mischief with damage. It's in 2020. He was sentenced to 364 days in jail. He also faced charges, including felony intimidation, battery and disorderly conduct. No conviction there. The courts found that he was and competent to stand trial.
Starting point is 00:02:34 DHS said this dangerous individual was clearly a threat to the community, which is now safer since he's been removed. Those who violate immigration law are held equally accountable, including former professional athletes. The 100-day countdown has begun fewer than 100 days until the midterms. There have been four times since 1900 when the party in the White House gained seats in the house in a mid-term election. and I would say each of those has a bit of an asterisk.
Starting point is 00:03:02 In 1902, the House expanded the number of seats that there were. So that's an anomaly. 1934 was the Depression. 1998 was a reaction to Clinton's impeachment trial. And 2002 was right after 9-11. So you could say that never, in a relatively normal midterm, has the party in office and the presidency gained seats in a midterm election. This could be the first.
Starting point is 00:03:23 The president is hosting the first ever midterm convention, September 9th and 10th in Dallas. I'm Mike Slater from the podcast. On this Monday, I'm thinking about advice I recently gave to President Trump.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Now, I've known a man for 35 years. He's 80 years old. puts him in his early 40s when I met him in New York City. I've noticed that his posture is changing a bit. That's normal. As you get older, every malady in the world will visit you. I wouldn't even bore you with the stuff I got to deal with. My advice to President Trump is to take the next month, August, off as much as he can't, get into an environment that he likes.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Nice golf somewhere and relax a little bit. Of course, he has to deal with Iran. Everybody understands that. But he can do that by phone conferences and technology. President Trump needs a breather. Now, we should all want the best for every president, not just Donald Trump, but Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Bush the Younger, Bill Clinton, every one of them. As I chronicle in my book confronting the presidents, the job takes an enormous toll on a person's health no matter what your age. Historical examples include Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, and FDR.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Why don't you compare a picture of when President Lincoln took office and then look at another picture four years later? It's astounding. I hope President Trump gets some downtime. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Better than any insurance policy you get. Bill, killing Kennedy, one of the most fascinating historical publications I've ever read. I read it multiple times. I appreciate that, David. It's a second book. Lincoln was first. Kennedy, second.
Starting point is 00:06:20 has held up over the demands of time. And Killing Kennedy's got exactly what happened in there. Dan, concierge member. So Dan asked, I was on a team that looked at election fraud in Washington County, Oregon. Found lots of evidence by the Attorney General in Oregon, where we had to present our findings, refused to investigate. Ellen Rosenblum did nothing to look at what we found.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Not surprised? And that's part of the story, that there was evidence of fraud, okay, and it's ongoing, and who's investigating it? If it's a democratic state, they're not going to investigate it. Big part of the story.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Bill Giovannello, Dublin, Ohio. I'm curious about how you would rate Bloomberg for Fair Reporting. I wouldn't rate them at all. They're a financial network. I don't watch Bloomberg. I mean, what am I going to watch Bloomberg for? I'm a news guy. So they do finance. They'll tell you about gold in Asia. It's not what I'm doing here, so I can't rate them. His green card ended years of legal trouble, public feud with an American president, and international drug charges.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Here is the story. In 1971, the former Beatle and his wife, Yoko Ono, moved to New York City. The musician was vehemently opposed. to the war in Vietnam. And it recently performed his song Give Peace a Chance at political rallies across the USA. President Nixon was not amused. The White House eventually ordered Lenin's deportation. The administration claimed the former Beatle had entered the country illegally. Four years earlier, Lenin pleaded guilty to marijuana possession in London. At the time, U.S. immigration law band admission for everyone convicted of a drug crime.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Artists and musicians across country petitioned President Nixon to let John Lennon stay. Bob Dylan penned a personal letter to Nixon, writing, quote, John and Yoko inspire and transcend and stimulate. Let John and Yoko stay. With the support of New York City Mayor John Lindsay, The group launched the Let Them Stay in the USA campaign on radio and television. The movement didn't change President Nixon's mind. The proceedings continued even after his re-election in 1972, but then came the Watergate
Starting point is 00:10:09 scandal. So in the end, Nixon left the White House and Lenin stayed in the USA. day. In October 1975, a three-judge federal panel ruled in John Lennon's favor, declaring his conviction in Britain failed to meet American standards of justice. Just four years later, the 40-year-old musician was shot and killed outside his apartment in New York City by a deranged fan. Back after this.
