Starting point is 00:00:00 Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, July 28th, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America. Europe steamrolled. Shooter stopped stabber. Next level geoengineering and lowest polls ever. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. But first, President Donald Trump and the commissioner of the European Union announced last night that Europe and America reached a deal that would impose a 15% tariff on most things coming from Europe. Also, Europe will purchase $750 billion worth of energy from America and invest 600 billion more than they already have in America and all European countries all EU countries will be open to trade of American goods with zero tariffs the Financial Times wrote
Starting point is 00:01:00 quote there's no hiding the fact that the EU was rolled over by the Trump juggernaut said one ambassador. Trump knew and worked out exactly where our pain threshold is. The European Union also agreed to purchase our military equipment. Amazing. Saturday night at a Walmart in Michigan, a male started stabbing people, four in serious condition, seven in fair condition, with a knife with a three and a half inch blade. Well, there happened to be in that Walmart, a Marine who started chasing the stabber on foot
Starting point is 00:01:36 when another man who was also a Marine pulled a gun on him. The first Marine who was not armed with a gun said, quote, the other Marine told me that he just went to a shooting range and he forgot to take his pistol off his hip. That's what it all came down to. According to Politico, a team of researchers was trying to test a machine for creating clouds off
Starting point is 00:01:56 the coast of California. But they weren't just trying to create clouds. They're actually studying, spraying some solution in the sky that would dim the Sun's rays. The experiment led by University of Washington was supposed to last for months, but it only lasted 20 minutes before the city of Alameda shut it down because no one told them about it beforehand. The plan was to create a 3,900 square mile cloud which would be visible from space but then also to
Starting point is 00:02:25 Somehow dim the Sun's rays all to combat the negative effects of global warming latest polls of the Democratic Party Lowest point in over 30 years. It's according to the Wall Street Journal New survey finds that 63 percent of voters hold an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party. That's the highest share since percent of voters hold an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party. That's the highest share since 1990. Only 8% of Americans view the Democrats very favorably. And that trade deal that Trump and Europe just announced, it's not going to do the Democrats any favors.
Starting point is 00:02:56 I'm Mike Slater. I have a podcast called Politics by Faith, the Great Bill O'Reilly. He has your message of the day. Next. Hey, Mike Baker here, host of the President's Daily Brief podcast. If you want straight talk on national security, foreign policy, and the biggest global stories going on of the day, this is the show for you. We publish twice a day, Monday through Friday, once in the morning, again in the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:03:19 And on the weekend, we go longer with the PDB Situation Report with excellent guests, including national security insiders and foreign policy experts. time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day. On this Monday, I don't feel sorry for Stephen Colbert. I don't even like him. I mean, it's not personal. I just I know them all. I know Colbert. I like Jon Stewart.
Starting point is 00:03:54 I like Letterman. I like most of the people that I've interacted with in late night television, but Colbert was always a bit strident for me, a bit humorless even though he is a comedian, very, very dedicated to the liberal point of view, extremely so, and that's all right. But here's the mistake that Colbert made which led to his demise on CBS. It's not about hating Trump. It's not about low ratings. It's not about losing money. What Colbert did was set up a culture at CBS
Starting point is 00:04:39 to censor other points of view. Now, I've been on late night TV over my career 75 times. Colbert would never book me, even though I'm the best selling nonfiction author on Earth, he wouldn't put me on and he wouldn't put on anyone who did not share his far left view of the world. So all you got was liberal people yucking it up and demeaning conservative people. That is atrocious and that is what led to Colbert's failure, if you want to use that word. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it.
Starting point is 00:05:27 You can reach me, bill at billoereilly.com, bill at billoereilly.com, name and town if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. Okay, we have Robert, concierge member. Robert gets direct access to me. Anything bad happens to Robert, my crew is on his side. Robert, hey, Bill, your analysis about Obama is spot on. Well, I don't think he'll do any prison time.
Starting point is 00:05:56 I do believe his reputation and legacy will suffer. Democrats, they're not going to turn on Barack Obama. And most Republicans don't like him. I'm not sure whether history is going to be affected by that. Take a little bit more. Blake Shezarin, Thailand. Hot over there. Hey Bill, remember what Richard Nixon said in his final speech before he left the White
Starting point is 00:06:20 House? He said, others will hate you, but if you hate them back, you'll be destroyed. Isn't that what happened today with the corporate left-wing media? What an excellent point, Greg. That's exactly what happened. Exactly. They hated Trump so, or they hate, still going on, so much. They lost all credibility and fairness. Very good. Glad
Starting point is 00:06:44 you're watching Thailand and around the world. Tom, Bill you say you don't expect Mamdani to win the mayor election in New York City. Your reasoning please. The guy is miles ahead in the polls. No he's not. Okay he's ahead but not miles ahead and if one of the other two Cu Cuomo or Adams, drop out, which is certainly possible, those voters will go over to the other one and Mandami will lose. So you've got three Democrats running and one Republican, Curtis Leewell. This is not a lock. In a moment. Something you might not know. a little bit of trouble too. Come and see what all the fuss is about. You can listen to Piers Morgan on Ascensored on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. On this day in 1914, one of the worst conflicts in human history began. Just four years later, 10 million people dead, 21 million wounded, and the entire continent left in ruins. Here is the story of World War I. In the early 20th century, peace in Europe was achieved through a series of diplomatic alliances, but political instability in the Balkans threatened those arguments. In the summer of 1914, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated in Bosnia for absolutely no reason.
Starting point is 00:08:42 And all hell broke loose after that. Austria declared war on Serbia. Russia and France declared war on Austria. Germany declared war on France. England declared war on Germany. It was nuts. The United States stayed out of it until a German submarine torpedoed the unarmed passenger ship the Lusitania en route from New York to England. President Wilson was under immense pressure after that to get involved and America did. Europeans slaughtered each other in record numbers. Soldiers were massacred from the air, land, and sea. Chemical weapons rained down on the trenches. At least 100,000 troops were gassed to death on the fields of France. By the fall of 1918, the USA had entered the fray,
Starting point is 00:09:42 and that was the end of the Central Powers, Germany and Austria. They unraveled. Facing dwindling resources, discontent on the home front and surrender of its allies, Berlin, the primary motivator, finally agreed to an armistice. The Warring Party signed the Treaty of Versailles, 1919 officially ending World War I. And here's something else you might not know. That treaty punished Germany so much
Starting point is 00:10:15 that it led to the rise of Adolf Hitler, who of course started World War II, an even worse conflict. Back in a moment. Quiet night in on Friday.
