Bill O'Reilly here Monday, July 6th, 2020.
You are listening to the O'Reilly Update.
Here's what's happening today in America.
President Trump targets radicals in his independence they address.
More protests across the USA.
Colin Kaepernick trashes the 4th of July.
Shooting spiked 200% in New York City.
Gun violence also out of control in Chicago.
Ahead, COVID radicals. What is America's short-term future? But first. The president addressing the nation from Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, telling the public his administration will never allow, quote, far-left fascists to remove America's memorials.
The radical left New York Times recently labeled Mount Rushmore a monument to,
to, quote, slaveholders designed by a man with ties to the Ku Klux Klan. As the culture war
continues, the New York Times continues to trash its country. Former NFL quarterback Colin
Kaepernick doing the same thing. Over the weekend, he said, quote, black people have been
brutalized and terrorized by America for centuries. We reject your
celebration of white supremacy and look forward to liberation for all, unquote. Demonstrators protesting
in a dozen major cities. Rioters in Baltimore tore down a statue of Christopher Columbus, threw it in the
harbor. No arrest, of course. The president calling the vandals, quote, Nazis and terrorists,
saying they should spend 10 years in prison. Gun violence out of control,
in New York City, jumping 205% after the NYPD disbanded its anti-crime unit.
Police Commissioner Dermit Shea and Mayor Bill de Blasio also slashed the department's funding
by more than a billion dollars. Both men should be removed from their positions as people
die in the streets of New York. In addition, 500,000 residents have fled the city since March
with many, many more to come. Nine children under the age of 18 have been shot and killed in
Chicago since June 20th, one of the worst crime stats in American history. Today, 336 people have
been murdered in the windy city, putting the nation's third largest town on track to beat their own
homicide record set four years ago. In a moment, why America is at risk? Right back.
Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress. National debt rising, trade war, shaking the
markets. And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold. That's why I protected
my savings with physical gold and silver. Theroux, the only dealer I trust, American, heart

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day,
the short-term future of America.
First, COVID, I can't believe this is so awful.
I thought it would die out by early summer, and it's getting worse in some places.
It's just a depressing situation because we Americans, and we are the most powerful nation in the world,
can't seem to do anything about this.
And it has affected every single one of us.
So this COVID thing basically creates fear and kids.
optimism. That's the key, that we are an optimistic people, but we are seeing this disease
just run wild. Now, I do believe there will be a vaccine, but I can't possibly speculate on
when. But COVID is influencing how we Americans live day to day, how we think, and even
who we might elect the next president.
The second situation is the radical left running wild. Now, this came out of nowhere.
Remember, before George Floyd was brutally killed by police in Minneapolis, we did not have
the radical left destroying property, looting, threatening people. We didn't have this.
We did have unrest because of President Trump. But we didn't have these street demonstrations
and this rise in power of these Marxists.
Now, I have been investigating the Black Lives Matter Global Foundation,
and I hope you are following this investigation on Bill O'Reilly.com.
I just posted a column yesterday.
There are two columns that document that the Black Lives Matter Global Foundation
is a Marxist operation, which wants to overthrow the government of the United States and
erase our history and culture. And they don't hide that. Yet you won't get any media reporting
on it because most of the media is left wing. Now, you can see that liberal policies in San Francisco,
Seattle, Chicago, Baltimore, New York City are directly leading to dead people. Violence is rising
in all of those places. People are being murdered in the streets. 90% of them black people.
Yet we hear very little coverage of this. So the question for you, the American citizen,
is what are you going to do? What are you going to do? Because only the people,
have the power to remove governments in New York City, Chicago, Seattle, L.A., Baltimore, Washington, D.C., San Francisco.
Some of those places are hopeless. I know it, but many are not.
Now, we have started a campaign on Bill O'Reilly.com called Stand Up for Your Country.
Stand up. Don't kneel. Yes, we can improve the USA.
And it needs to be improved in some areas.
All citizens should have an equal shot at the pursuit of happiness.
But this is a noble nation.
So stand up.
I'm Bill O'Reilly and I approve that message by writing it.

And again, join our campaign, stand up for your country.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
July 4th is known around the world as the birthday of the USA, but there's an interesting backstory.
In the summer of 1776, 56 Patriots signed an official divorce letter to the King of England,
proclaiming, quote, these colonies are end of right, ought to be free in independent states.
that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British crown, unquote.
You can read about the tough campaign for our freedom in my book, Killing England.
Now, the original Independence Day was celebrated with a 13 gun salute in Philadelphia
because they were 13 colonies and then 13 states.
That was followed by a small celebration in Lower Manhattan.
Today, Americans mark the occasion in some pretty interesting ways.
In Brooklyn, New York, folks indulge in hot dogs, the Coney Island Contests to see who can eat as many as 70 Frank footers and take home a prize of 40,000 bucks is a big spectacle.
In all, Americans consume more than 150 million hot dogs on the 4th of July.
Next, fireworks, adults showed out $1.2 billion in 2019 last year on the explosives.
The displays are illegal in most cities, but that doesn't stop folks.
In New York, there were 15,000 fireworks complaints to the cops who are under siege, as you know.
The 4th of July also the biggest drinking day of the year.
Liquor sales double in all 50 states, especially Hawaii.
Biggest spirits, rum, tequila, vodka, beer also popular on the 4th of July.
Top brand, Budweiser.
And here's something else you might not know. Founding Father John Adams thought Independence Day
should be celebrated on July 2nd, the date the Continental Congress actually approved separation from
England. Adams would routinely turn down invitations to appear at events on July 4th, even filing a
formal complaint with the federal government. John Adams, as you may know, was a grouch. However, both he
and Thomas Jefferson died on July 4th, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration
of Independence.
Back after this.
