Bill O'Reilly here Friday, June 12th, 2020. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update.
Here's what's happening today in America, and we would like to look at this country in a realistic way.
In 1936, communist dictator Joseph Stalin began a great purge of political opponents throughout the Soviet Union.
Within two years, more than three million people were executed or thrown into gulags.
Stalin justified the brutal policy using the banner, enemy of the people, and that included
members of his own party, civil servants, the military, academics, the media, or anybody else,
Stalin considered a threat. Well, today, there's a purge taking place in America.
It's not violent, but it is intense. If you oppose the far left, that movement will try to
to hurt you. This week, a senior editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper was fired
after leftist reporters protested a story about violence at anti-cop demonstrations.
Another editor at the New York Times forced out for publishing an op-ed from Republican Senator
Tom Cotton that supported using the military to control riots.
Minneapolis mayor, Jacob Fry, a very left-wing guy, was publicly shamed by Black Lives Matter after he refused to back the defund the police movement.
Politicians now pretend that radical protesters taking part in anti-cop demonstrations pose no threat,
while millions of Americans don't believe that. Also, these protesters can run around and do anything they want,
but you still can't go to church because of COVID, said Senator McConnell,
quote, apparently protests are now permissible.
Prayer is still too dangerous, unquote.
This is Stalinism.
This is a purge.
No one is safe.
It permeates the press, Hollywood, sports, corporations, the education system, Silicon Valley.
Dictators like Mao, Hitler, Castro, all moved to society.
stifle-free speech, it's the first step toward total control. So somewhere, right now,
Joseph Stalin is smiling. My question is, who's going to stop it? In a moment, the message of the day
listeners sound off, and they're mad this week. Up next. You know me as a news guy, but today

Listeners sound off.
We do this every Friday.

Let me know what you think, and maybe I will use your letter.
So let's go to Gordon in Danville, Virginia.
Bill, with your reporting about the cancel culture,
the attorneys are going to have a field day, they're going to sue over First Amendment rights,
what do you suggest to people who are working in offices? Just shut your mouth and keep your
opinions to yourself? Unfortunately, Gordon, I do. I don't want anyone getting in trouble at work
by talking about political things. If you have a beef, if somebody is persecuting you,
somebody doing something wrong, then you bring it to your boss, to the human resources.
If it's really bad, you get an attorney. But don't give anybody any information.
Whatever you say at work, Gordon, it's not going to be reported accurately.
So don't say anything about politics. This is crazy right now.
Joseph in Indio, California, I can't take it anymore. If we say anything, the far left doesn't
like, they put you down like a dog. Can you tell me what happened to the land of the free and the
home of the brave? Where is our justice? If this keeps going, there's going to be a civil war. There's
already, Joseph, a social civil war in America. It's already underway. The trend now,
backed up by the media, is the far left can do whatever it wants. I do believe that will change.
I do believe a backlash is coming because most Americans despise the far left.
But the media is enabling them, so it's going to take some time.
Kenneth and Flanders, New Jersey, my question is when reporting on George Floyd, Bill,
your reference is the death of George Floyd.
In the eyes of the world, he was murdered.
Why do you not report this as a murder of George Floyd?
Kenneth, murder is a crime, okay?
Death is a fact.
the police officers have not been convicted of murder yet. I think they will be. So the murder
allegation is not a fact. It's an accusation. Death is a fact. Mr. Floyd is dead.
Now, I'm a journalist, and I use precise language, Kenneth, unlike most everybody else.
So I hope you see the difference. Gary, in So Weakwell,
California. Seeing the officer with his knee on the man's neck after being handcuffed is appalling
to say the least. My question, what happened on the scene between the time Mr. Floyd is shown on
the sidewalk and the officers bringing him into custody? I don't know. I can't speculate. Be foolish of me
to speculate anything like that. We have to wait till the trial commences and we see the facts.
Arizona, reported Black Lives Matter received $33 million from George Soros.
My wife doesn't believe it.
Well, my best to your wife, David.
All you got to do is go to the Open Society Foundation, and you'll see the $30 million donation
over some years to Black Lives Matter.
There you go, facts are facts.
So I'm Bill O'Reilly, and I approve that message by putting it together for honest
coverage of the news.

In a moment, something you might not know.
Two guys, Kyle and Josh, were both losing their hair,
which was no surprise to either,
since they knew male pattern baldness ran in their families.
The way they dealt with their hair loss, however,
couldn't have been more different.
Kyle put it off, losing more and more hair.
Josh went right to keeps.com to learn how to keep his hair.
Keeps offers generic versions of the only two FDA-approved hair-loss products out there.
The genetic versions saved Josh a lot of money, and the consultation was simple.
He answered a few questions online and snapped a few pictures of his hair.
A doctor then evaluated everything and recommended the right FDA-approved hair-loss treatment for Josh.
It was shipped discreetly to his door.
Keeps lets you save your hair without ever leaving your home.
Please go to keeps, k-e-e-e-p-s.com slash bill.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know.
This week marks the 45th anniversary of the release of Stephen Spielberg's terrifying movie, Jaws.
Great flick, if you haven't seen it.
The film would become the first summer blockbuster, earning $460 million, no easy feat back in 1975.
After scaring audiences around the world, the movie had a major impact on people's attitudes towards sharks.
The film sparked a global hysteria surrounding the predators, especially great white sharks,
prompting overfishing, international, intentional killings, and trophy hunting that brought the shark
to the brink of extinction. According to the Florida program for shark research, there was a general
consensus at the start of the 20th century that sharks were harmless. They would never attack human beings.
In the early 1900s, there were even rewards offered to people who could prove they were actually bit
and buy a shark. No prizes were ever handed out. Well, that idea changed during World War II
when American sailors and airmen ditched into the shark-infested waters of the Pacific Ocean
and were attacked. I write about the USS Indianapolis incident in my book, Killing the Rising
Sun. Decades later, sharks are making a comeback, driven by an exploding seal,
population. Great whites are returning to New England in record numbers. That's where Jaws was
actually shot. Cape Cod now posts warning signs on local beaches. Scientists say the Cape is now home to
300 Great Whites each summer. The region's unique geography makes it one of the few places
in the world you can see Great Whites from the beach. But beware the mingling of humans and
sharks along the shoreline is risky. In 2019, there were 64 fatal shark attacks worldwide.
In fact, a 60-year-old surfer was killed in Australia just last week.
So remember, if you plan on swimming in the ocean this summer, don't go in the water at dusk or
dawn, don't wear jewelry, sharks like shiny objects. And if you see a seal, get out.
There could be a great white hunting for a buffet, and you don't want to.
