Old Navy's drapey denim wide leg. Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day. The Justice Department has launched an investigation into California's chaotic voting procedures and Democrats are not happy about it. In fact, Sacramento will not comply with the U.S. attorneys' requests for information. The Constitution gives each state the power to regulate voting. That's because James Madison and the boys did not want a powerful federal federal federal government.
Starting point is 00:04:28 government bullying states to vote a certain way. However, the feds have oversight to make sure states do not allow cheating. The Berez of left and its media enablers are screaming that charges of fraud in California are, quote, baseless. But how would they know? There hasn't been an investigation. A phony assessment of California's voting standards is baseless. Reality is another matter. Now, I have no evidence there was fraud in the Golden State. Here's what I do know.
Starting point is 00:05:13 You can register to vote on Election Day itself in California with little or no documentation that you are a resident or even a citizen of the country. Anyone can collect mail-in votes and take and take them to county offices in sacks or packages. Undocumented folks can get California driver's licenses they then use to register to vote. The deadline, to have your vote counted in California,
Starting point is 00:05:47 a week after election day. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at bill o'Reilly.com. Bill O'Reilly.com, name in town if you wish to opine. Okay, I just did a new YouTube bonus. It's about Scott Pelly crying.
Starting point is 00:06:09 And he sees himself as the ultimate victim. Not real sympathetic to Mr. Paley. So I want you to sign up. It's free. YouTube.com slash Bill O'Reilly. Eight-minute commentary. You'll love it. Why not sign up?
Starting point is 00:06:28 It's free. And if you don't like it, you just turn it off, but you'll like it. Now, Tim, concierge member. Billy hit the nail. It's voters who cause all of the social problems, not politicians. They're just the tools. Yeah, a lot of Americans have left their way, that's for sure. Stephen, concierge member, the real war begins if the left should take the House.
Starting point is 00:06:56 The war against Trump will continue with more impeachments and a push for prison time. Not while he's in office. There may be an impeachment move, but it's not going to get anywhere. Obviously, need two-thirds of the Senate to convict. Afterward, they'll torture him and his family. No doubt they will. Ron Perry drums Pennsylvania.
Starting point is 00:07:20 I know President Trump doesn't want to kill civilians in Iran, but aren't there military targets he can go after? Yeah. And I think we're going to see that shortly. David, concierge, remember, after listening to Stephen A. Smith's explanation of his objections to Trump attending the Nick Spurr game in New York City, I understand the logistical nightmare. Stephen A. is correct. All right. I hope you saw all that.
Starting point is 00:07:50 It was a pretty good debate. I hope you saw it. In a moment. But something you might not know. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might, not know. Three hundred thirty-four years ago, one of the darkest periods in American history began in colonial Massachusetts. Religious hysteria destroyed hundreds of families and claimed the lives of at least 20
Starting point is 00:08:20 innocent people. Here is the story of the Salem witch trials. The fear of witchcraft gripped Europe. the dark ages. The terror then spread to North America in the 17th century. In February 1692, young girls in Salem began suffering what they said were fits. The children accused three villagers of practicing witchcraft, a Caribbean slave named Tichoba, Sarah Good, a homeless beggar, and Sarah Osborne and elderly woman. Eventually, dozens were put on trial. The youngest, just four years old. She implicated her own mother upon questioning. During the proceedings of townsfolk would shriek,
Starting point is 00:09:17 faint, and scream profanities. The methods used to detect the devil were bizarre. Some were dunked in ice cold water, then burned with a metal cross. In the end, Most people confess to avoid torture. The first alleged witch, Bridget Bishop, was hanged on June 10, 1692. The entire frenzy lasted two years. 200 people were tried for witchcraft, 30 found guilty, 20 executed. The governor of Massachusetts finally stopped the madness
Starting point is 00:09:53 when his own wife was accused of devil worship. And here's something else you might not know. The hunt for Satanist was not confined to New England. The worst witch hunt in history occurred in Central Europe. During the Protestant Reformation, religious factions wage war for control of Germany and France. Each side accused the other of doing the devil's business. Between 1,500 and 1700, more than 200,000. so-called witches were executed in Europe. 90% women. For more harrowing stories about Salem,
Starting point is 00:10:38 please read my book, Killing the Witches, back in a moment. That is the weekend edition of the O'Reilly Update. For more news and honest analysis, please go to Bill O'Reilly.com.
