Bill O'Reilly here.
You are listening to the O'Reilly Update.
Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill.
It is Thursday, June 15th, 2020.
You're listening to the O'Reilly Update.
Here's what's happening today in America.
Daniel Penny indicted New York City.
Another major corporation flees San Francisco.
Rent prices, smash records.
And a new survey ranks the most expensive baseball stadiums.
in the United States.
That's all coming up, then the message of the day.
But first, Marine veteran, Daniel Penny, was indicted Wednesday for the New York City subway
chokehold death of Jordan Neely.
The exact charges will remain sealed until his arraignment.
Neely, who has been arrested 20 times and was wanted for violating his parole for
attacking a 67-year-old woman, long history of violent attacks, stormed onto the train
at the 2nd Avenue Station in Manhattan, screaming and threatening to kill the
passengers. I'm sure that the passengers on the subway were hoping that there was someone like
Daniel Penny. If only there were a Marine here who could protect us from this lunatic.
Alas, there was a Marine there, and he's charged with manslaughter, could face 15 years in prison.
The Cinemark Movie Theater chain is abandoning San Francisco, along with so many others.
Other companies closing include Walmart, Target, Walgreens, an entire mallee.
all downtown. It's like, we're out. California governor Gavin Newsom was recently asked to comment
on Whole Foods and their decision to leave San Francisco, and he blamed the decision not on
rampant homelessness and high crime and threats to workers. Instead, he said the grocery store
was in a bad location. Not as in too many homeless people or it was unsafe for employees
to be there. He means just like a bad business location. Like Whole Foods is known for making
those types of dumb decisions. I doubt it.
The cost of rent smashing records all over America,
prices jumping 20% in most major cities this summer
because of inflation and a stagnant real estate market.
A one-bedroom apartment in Miami will set you back $2,800 a month.
Wow.
Forbes Magazine ranked the most expensive baseball stadiums in the country,
most expensive as in for you and your family to go to.
Top of the list in 2023.
Number three, Yankee Stadium and City Field in New York.
City, then Chicago's Wrigley Field, and number one, most expensive ballpark, Fenway Park
in Boston.
The trip for a family of four to see the Red Sox this July will set you back $500.
The least expensive team in America, the Miami Marlins.
Folks in South Florida can catch a game for 20 bucks.
Coming up in the message of the day, why are all these businesses going woke when they know
it's bad for business?

Hey, I'm Mike Slater here for Bill O'Reilly.
Now it's time for the O'Reilly update message of the day.
Why are businesses so woke?
What is going on?
Why would Bud Light hire a man to frolic in a bikini in a bubble bath to sell beer?
What in the world?
Why would Target sell girls bathing suits for boys?
And then even more baths.
maybe, is other companies see business plummet with Bud Light and Target, and then they keep doing
their own pride extravaganzas. It's bad for business, right? If it's bad for business,
why do they keep doing it? Here's what you need to understand. You are not the customer.
What do you mean? I'm not the customer. There's a target. They open a store. They sell things.
to me, I walk in, I buy things, and they do well. If I don't buy things, they lose money.
Of course, I'm the customer. Who else could be the customer? Yes, you're one customer,
but you're not the most important customer. All roads for woe companies, all roads lead to BlackRock.
BlackRock, in very simplified terms, is an investment company. So people give their money to
black rock and then black rock invests it for them black rock is huge they oversee 10 trillion dollars in
investments that is more than the GDP of every country in the world other than the united states
in china japan has the third largest GDP but they're only four trillion so black rock has two just one
company two and a half x the assets of japan's GDP you throw in vanguard
same sort of deal
and you have two of these investment companies
that manage more than half of the combined value
of all shares of companies in the S&P 500.
How can that possibly be?
But it's true.
They invest in 1,600 American companies
and all the biggest ones, of course.
They own 17% of Target.
So you don't buy your toilet paper from Target this month.
Big whoop.
They're not answering to you.
They're answering to these massive players.
did you see cracker barrel of all places did a big pride celebration thing on their social
medias you're like cracker barrel why would you what are you doing cracker barrel well black rock
owns 14% of cracker barrel now enter in the human rights campaign they're pro LGBTQ group
they have what they call the corporate equality index and they score every company on a scale
from zero to 100 based on how LGBT friendly they are black rock look at
at the corporate equality index score to see who to invest in and who is living up to or failing
by the standards and once they invest they throw their weight around this all sounds hard to believe
i know it but this is the CEO of black rock larry think it's just you have to force
behaviors and if you don't force behaviors whether it's gender or race you're going to be
impacted after world war two there was a term that the marxists came up with they said that
in order to spread their ideas, they need to have a long march through the institutions.
The Marxists needed to take over everything, not just politics, but all of culture, media,
art, TV, movies, higher education, K through 12, everything.
And of course, they were not going to stop outside the boardroom.
You know, the women's and gender studies majors in college that conservatives laughed at,
oh, what kind of job are you going to get with that degree?
Well, they went on to work in the HR departments across the country and forced this on all of us.
and they went to work for companies like BlackRock
and forced you to behave how they want you to.
The only question is, will you comply?
Power, politics, and the people behind the headlines.

Hey, I'm Mike Slater, filling in for Bill O'Reilly.
Now it's time for something you might not know.
The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, is proposing a constitutional amendment.
that the 28th Amendment intended to neuter the second amendment.
He has four proposals, the first.
Raise the age to buy a gun from 18 to 21.
We don't know when adulthood starts in America anymore.
It used to be 13, and we decided 18.
But now you can be on your mommy's health insurance until you're 26.
So we've got to figure out the age that adulthood starts and just stick with it.
The second proposal in the 28th Amendment is universal background checks.
we already have that the national instant criminal background check it's been around since 1998 and it has plenty of human error in it the sutherland springs church shooting in texas murderer killed 26 people he shouldn't have been allowed to own a firearm because he had a domestic violence charge on him when he was in the air force but the air force did not send that to the FBI so it was never included in the database the third proposal in the 28th amendment is a universal waiting period the idea here is we need to prevent crimes of passion but i'm not sure that's a
thing. When I think a long waiting period in California, it's 10 days. When I think of a long waiting
period, I think of a woman who wants to protect herself from a stalker or an ex-husband or someone with
a restraining order. But she has to wait 10 days. And how many women get hurt attacked in that 10-day
waiting period? I bet way more people are hurt in that scenario than the scenario of the crimes of
passion and the guy goes to the gun store and buys the gun and then uses it to hurt someone. So I'm not sure
a universal waiting period saves any lives.
But the fourth proposal in the 28th Amendment,
and this is the big one,
is banning AR-15s and weapons of war.
Now, as you know, the AR-15 is not an automatic weapon.
It's just like a handgun.
You've got to pull the trigger one time for each bullet.
It's not automatic.
It's nothing to do with a weapon of war.
It was first designed for civilian use.
And the AR-15 is not used in the military.
It has nothing to do with weapons of war.
But the premise of this is that our founders couldn't have imagined
people inventing more powerful guns.
And our founders were only referring to muskets.
Well, when they wrote the First Amendment,
were they only thinking about parchment paper and quill pens?
Of course not.
They saw technological improvement with guns in their lifetimes.
In the late 1700s, there were weapons that could fire 40 times
without losing muzzle velocity.
And no founder ever said, whoa, second amendment was a big mistake.
But the good news is the fact that he thinks we need a constitutional amendment
to gut the Second Amendment?
To me, it just proves how rock solid
the Second Amendment is.
And we need to keep it that way.
More coming up.
