Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, June 16th, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America.
Assassin captured. Trump called off attack, doubling down for ice, and an American wins the U.S. Open.
That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message today. But first, the Minnesota assassin has been arrested.
the 57-year-old male who murdered Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband,
and he also shot and seriously injured Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife
in their home, all in their homes.
The first shooting took place at 2 a.m.
The Hoffman's, the first victims, survived the attack.
In his vehicle, it was a hit list with dozens of other Minnesota Democrats.
He suspected of gaining entry into these lawmaker homes by disguising himself as a police officer.
He was caught in the woods when a drone flew overhead, and he eventually surrendered.
The U.S. has confirmed that Trump nixed a plan that the Israelis were putting together to
assassinate the supreme leader of Iran. Israel did not kill the supreme leader, but they did
kill Iran's highest-ranking military commander, the chief of staff of the armed forces, the leader
of the IRGC, that's the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps. Israel killed the leader of Iran's
missile program, the deputy for operations of the military, the deputy for intelligence, the
IRGC Intel chief, the former head of the atomic energy organization, and at least seven nuclear
scientists. In retaliation, Iran has launched 270 missiles, killing 13 Israelis injuring 390. Most
of the missiles have been intercepted, but Israel confirmed 22 impact sites. Our president sent out
a message which ended with, make the Middle East great again. And another truth, social
host President Trump's double down on his support of ice and focusing on major sanctuary cities.
Among other things, he said, I want our brave ICE officers to know that real Americans are cheering you on every day.
The American people want our cities, schools, and communities to be safe and free from illegal alien crime, conflict, and chaos.
That is why I have directed my entire administration to put every resource possible behind this effort and reverse the tide of mass destruction migration,
which has turned once idealic towns into scenes of third world dystopia to ice

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Monday, I'm thinking about America's relationship with Europe.
That is the kind of boring guy I am.
Now, President Trump says he wants the EU to prosper,
but he also wants fair trade deals with our closest allies.
Last week, the president hosted the leader of Ireland in the Oval Office.
Mr. Trump softly chided his Irish counterpart, who took the jabs in good nature.
Predictably, the Democrats used a friendly meeting to attack Trump's foreign policy.
But here are a few examples of America's trade imbalance with Europe.
Ireland, 80 billion.
That means the republic gets 80 billion more U.S.
then we get euros from it.
France 15 billion, Austria 11 billion, Italy 40 billion, Sweden 9 billion, Germany 80 billion.
So we're getting hos across the board.
And everybody knows that, but some people don't care.
Then there's national defense.
Americans spend $820 billion a year on the military.
That's all taxpayer money, and it protects the EU.
But over in Europe, Belgium spends 2% on its military,
and Donald Trump wants 5% minimum from all European nations.
Does that seem unreasonable to you?
I'm Bill O'Reilly.
I approve the message by writing it.

Now let's go to the mail.
Phyllis, how do they enforce a looking for work requirement for Medicaid?
Very hard.
Very hard.
But it should be there.
You'd have to, you know, the Medicaid reciprocity would have to provide documentation that he or she is looking for work and have to be reviewed.
Millions of people.
It's not easy, but it should be there.
Kit, Valentine, Tucson, Arizona, a lot of us are on Medicaid because we're disabled.
How can the federal government certifies us and tell us to get jobs?
Come on.
Kit, I have said it over and over and over.
Any disabled person, any elderly person, any person with dependent children would not have to do that.
Remember, concierge and premium members, you can get.

Ann Baroni, Denver, Colorado, wondering as evil as unpredictable as Putin is, why world leaders
would not come together and take them out?
Because many world leaders are evil themselves.
They like them.
Chinese are doing business with them, right?
Evil gets away with a lot.
gets away with a lot, as you will see in confronting evil out September 9th.
Deborah Bings, Fallbrook, California, I'm rereading the killing series, and I missed a couple,
but this time I'm doing it in historical order. I started with killing the witches, then
killing England. The next one, I'm thinking killing crazy horse, killing Lincoln.
Okay, so after killing England, you go to killing Lincoln, then killing crazy horse.
And that gets you into modern times once you complete those four.
In a moment, something you might not know.

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might, not know.
196 years ago today, a Native American was born along the U.S. Mexico border.
He will soon become a global figure of defiance against U.S. expansionism.
Here is the story of Geronimo.
The boy was raised on the banks of the Gila River.
He was given the birth name Goyacla, meaning he who yawns.
As a young teen, his tribe of 8,000 Apache were fighting Mexicans to the south,
Americans to the north, then Comanches and Navajos to the east and west.
The young brave soon earned the name Geronimo.
Legend states, the moniker began when terrified Mexican soldiers scream for St. Jerome when facing the Apache in battle.
Personal tragedy shaped Geronimo's lifelong hatred for non-natives.
While away on a trading expedition, foreign soldiers attacked his family, killing his mother, wife, and three children.
Seeking revenge, Geronimo launched a vicious campaign against Mexicans and American settlers.
In 1874, the U.S. government ordered the Apache to move from their land to an Indian reservation in Arizona.
Geronimo refused.
Over the next decade, he battled federal troops, launched raids on white settlements, which were savage.
You can read about all that in my book, Killing Crazy Horse.
In September 1886, the Apache leader and his band of 200 fighters surrendered to the American
Army.
They were starving.
He was the final native warrior to comply with Washington.
The Indian Wars of the Southwest were over.
Geronimo was dispatched first to Florida, then Alabama, and finally Oklahoma.
There he converted to Christianity, spent his final years as a farmer.
He died February 1909 at the age of 79.
And here's something else you might not know.
Today, the term Geronimo is synonymous with bravery on the battlefield.
During World War II, American parachuters yelled the name when jumping out of airplanes.
In May 2011, Geronimo was military code word for the capture and death of Osama bin Laden.
