Bill O'Reilly here Friday, June 19th, 2020. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Here's what's
happening today in America. This week, something very important happened. The reparations for
slavery movement gained traction. Now, I believe, as I have stated, it is very unfair to the
American taxpayer, all of us, all right, because we're going to have to pay for.
reparations. I think that's brutally unfair. But others disagree. Earlier this week, I talked to
a guy in Atlanta, Dr. Rashad Ritchie, about reparations. Once you start down that road
of historical justification for wrongs, it never ends. But more importantly, and I know
you're going to, you've considered this point. You may not agree with it, but I know you've
considered it. If you do this, you divide Americans, and you can say lineage, you can say it,
but you divide them by skin color. You have a specialized group that is now getting money from
the taxpayers, all of the taxpayers, for historical injustices. The current taxpayer may have
lost ancestors fighting for the freedom of slaves. They may have lost ancestors doing all
kinds of positive things. Not going to go for it, Doc. You're going to divide the nation
and you're going to create more racial animus. So the key element here is that the races will be
divided, African Americans and everyone else, not just whites, if reparations ever pass in Congress
and are signed into law by a president, which Biden would do, by the way. Joe Biden would sign it.
Okay? Then it's going to be, wait a minute, what are we doing, dividing this country by skin color?
Because that's what it would be. Most Americans, every poll say, no, this is not fair. I had nothing to do with slavery.
My family had nothing to do with slavery. And you can do white privilege all day long, but you're not going to convince people that they should pay money to African Americans because of a historical
justice. That argument is never going to be resolved. So if it ever happened, and again,
Biden would do it, you're going to have this huge division. And instead of a country trying to come
together, we would be almost fractured forever. So think about it. Coming up, the message of the
day, listeners, sound off. Working from home is causing the worst type of cybercrime, home title

First letter comes from Roger in Minneapolis, a very heated place right now.
Bill, I believe that the only way for America to close the racial
divide is through the church. For years, I attended an integrated church. We worshipped using a mix
of typical black and white music and religious traditions. We also develop good social
relationships with many black couples. Well, Roger, I really appreciate the letter. That is one
way that Americans can come together through spirituality and worship. But you don't hear that
emphasized anywhere. Not in the media. They're not going to tell you to go to church. That's for sure.
But it is a good idea. And again, thank you for sending that letter. Mone is in Las Vegas.
Can you explain O'Reilly why no one has said we need to go after the African countries
who captured black people and sold them into slavery? Why are they not responsible for what
happened to black people? Mone, that is an argument that
has no validity whatsoever. Number one, African countries back in the 17th and 18th century,
there were no African countries. They were all controlled by Europe and tribalism is what was
going on on that continent. So to blame some fictional African country just is not valid.
and masks the real issue. The U.S. was wrong to ever have slavery. Our economy in the South was based
on slave labor. But we righted the wrong in the Civil War. Paul, St. Louis. Bill, do you
believe we are headed for Civil War in this country? Paul, we're already in a Social Civil War.
You know that.
the difference between traditional Americans and the far left, that golf will never be breached.
There's no way there's going to be common ground between radical leftists who want to destroy
the whole structure of America and traditional conservatives.
And they're going to fight it out.
And right now, the radical left has the media on its side.
but the traditional conservative movement has the most people. We'll see how it plays out in
November. Judy is in British Columbia, Canada. Bill, I listen to you all the time, and I read today
that the Trump administration is suing John Bolton the block his book. Is that true?
I think it looks bad for Trump, if it is. Yes, there is a lawsuit by the Justice
Department because they allege that Bolton is violating national security by writing this
hatchet book on Donald Trump. I don't think this Bolton book is going to have any influence
in what happens in America. And I agree with you. I think Trump should just drop and say
Bolton's a bad guy. I'm Bill O'Reilly and I approve that message by putting it together.

something you might not know. A century ago, the global life expectancy, how long you're expected
to live, was just 41 years. Today, that number has risen to 72 years for the average human being.
Experts say the figure could reach 95 by the end of the century.
A person's lifespan largely depends on genetic factors, health, personal choices like smoking
and diet, but it also depends on where you were born.
According to the World Economic Forum, folks in Japan tend to stick around the longest.
A healthy diet of fish and daily exercise means residents in the land of the rising sun
live until 85 years old on average.
Switzerland. Next, countries rank the most active in Europe.
Studies show the Swiss suffer less anxiety and depression than their German neighbors, for example.
Average life expectancy is 85 for women, 82 for men.
Does Yodeling have anything to do with it?
In Iceland, folks can expect to hang around until they're 82.
Scientists believe the cold weather might actually help you live longer.
Researchers at the University of Michigan say frigid temperatures trigger genetic responses
that extend a person's lifespan.
And all the way down at number 35, right between Lebanon and Cuba, the USA.
Average life expectancy for we the people in America.
If you're a male, 76.
A woman, 81. In 1900, a typical lifespan in America, 47 years. So progress has been made,
but not as much progress as in other countries. It turns out where you live in America
does play a role in longevity. Residents in Charleston, South Carolina, Naples, Florida,
both very nice places, live a decade longer than a national average.
and they're hot, which goes against the Iceland thing. Shortest life expectancy on the planet can be
found in sub-Saharan Africa. Average person in Sierra Leone, that's a country, lives to the
age of 49. AIDS the biggest factor. Back after this. You know me as a news guy, but today I'm a
