Bill O'Reilly here Monday, June 22nd, 2020. You're listening to the O'Reilly Update. Here's what's
happening today in America. A handful of states now mandate wearing face masks to stop COVID.
Crime in New York City spins out of control. A shooting leaves one person dead in Seattle's
cop-free zone. Online trolls derail President Trump's rally. Eight in ten Americans now
severely stressed out over the country's future. Also, I had the truth about George Washington
and slaves. But first, governors in California, North Carolina, and other states requiring
residents to wear face masks in public. At least six states witnessing record number of COVID
infections since reopening, including a 60% spike in Florida. The CDC confirming confirming at least 30,000
new cases of the contagion in less than 24 hours. Crime spiking in the Big Apple.
The NYPD releasing stats that show a 79% increase in murders, 64% shooting increase, and 34%
burglaries up. Mayor Bill de Blasio saying, quote, police reform is happening in New York City.
He doesn't seem very concerned that more.
more people in his city are violently dying.
One person killed, another critically injured,
after a gunman opened fired inside Seattle's, quote, autonomous zone.
The police department abandoned the six-block area when protesters seized it last week.
Far left mayor Jenny Durkin refuses to move the demonstrators.
Washington Governor Inslee also will not do anything about the situation which is
now getting dangerous. Trolls on social media tanking Donald Trump's rally in Tulsa on Saturday.
Teenage users apparently ordered thousands of tickets for the president's return to the campaign trail
and then did not show up. A sign of the times as political chaos is rising.
83% of Americans report severe anxiety over the fate of the nation. Now the 72% of the
percent believe America is at its lowest point since 1776. A majority cite racial tension,
COVID, and the upcoming presidential election as a significant source of stress.
In a moment, George Washington under attack, right back with it. Working from home is causing
the worst type of cybercrime, home title theft. While we're doing everything from
working, banking, shopping in the house. Cybercriminals are targeting our homes. They want the money
they can get by taking out loans against the house. The crime is called home title theft and the
FBI is warning all homeowners. Home title lock protects your home from cyber thieves. Your home's
legal title is online. Thieves can find it and forge your signature stating you sold your home
them. Then they take out loans and leave you in debt. Banks, insurance, and basic identity theft
services do not protect you. Home Title Lock puts a virtual barrier around your home's title.
So please go to HomeTitallock.com and register your address to see if you are already a victim.
You can use a code bill for 30 free days of protection. That's code Bill at Home Title VII.
Lock.com. Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day, the truth about the father of our
country, George Washington, and slavery. Recently in Portland, Oregon, one of America's most
radical left cities, a statue of George Washington was destroyed by radical leftists.
Now, why? The father of our country?
won the Revolutionary War. Without George Washington, there would be no America as we know it.
Well, the radicals say Washington was a slaveholder, therefore he must be diminished, canceled in the current
terminology. Well, here's the truth. George Washington was an active slaveholder for 56 years,
struggling with the institution. However, before he died, Washington freed all of his slaves,
the only founding father to do so. Washington became a slaveholder at the age of 11 after his father
died. He inherited a 280-acre farm in Fredericksburg, Virginia with 10 slaves. He would
purchase 14 more as a young adult. At the time of his death, George Washington's Mount Vernon
estate consisted of 317 slaves most from his marriage to Martha, a wealthy widow whose family
owned an enormous amount of land and slaves. At least 17 of George Washington's slaves
escaped during the American Revolution, fleeing to British forces aboard the HMS Savage,
which was anchored in the Potomac River near Washington's estate.
George Washington was a man of his time, obviously taking economic advantage of enslaved blacks.
But it apparently bothered him.
In 1786, he wrote, quote,
I never meant to possess another slave by purchase, it being among my first wishes to see some plan adopted by the legislature, by which slavery in the country may be abolished, by slow, sure, and imperceptible degrees, unquote.
He continued in another statement, there is not a man living who wishes more sincerely than I do to see a plan adopted for this abolition of slavery.
but there is only one proper and effectual mode by which it can be accomplished, and that is by
legislative authority. President Washington, like most white men in American leadership positions,
knew the South would fight to keep slavery and separate from the newly formed nation if abolition
came into play. So, the anti-slavery faction in Congress tried to try to be. So, the anti-slavery faction in Congress
tried to pass laws first restricting slavery and later trying to abolish it. That, of course,
led to the Civil War. Today, the attempt to diminish George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,
and others, is really a direct assault on our Constitution by people who despise it.
If you can neutralize, if you can banish the framers of the Constitution,
then you can say it is a white supremacist document, and that is the goal of all this.

Now the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know this past weekend marked the summer
solstice in the northern hemisphere, the longest day of the year when the sun reaches its highest
position in the sky. Enjoy it as daylight now get shorter and shorter until December 21st. In places like
New York City, the solstice means 15 hours of sunshine between 5 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. In some
spots around the globe, it means permanent daylight. Head on over to Hammerfest, Norway, to witness the
midnight sun. The locals don't see dark between May and July. The golf course is there open 24 hours
a day for those finding it difficult to get sleep. Residents in Recovic, Iceland, get a short break
from the sunshine, just three hours. The saloons stay open until 6 a.m. Bottoms up.
Next stop, Helsinki, Finland. June to July, nothing but sunshine. The Finnish solstice is a
national holiday. Called mid-summer, folks flee the cities for country cottages, build bonfires,
and some even whip themselves with birch while soaking in saunas. Nobody quite can figure that out.
North Americans also getting in on the action. U.S. citizens can drive to Canada, to the Yukon,
folks up there, having late-night barbecues, fishing competitions between midnight and 3 a.m.
during the summer weekends. Researchers on Russia's Bolshevik Island also get a hefty dose of
sunshine. The science station is one of the planet's northernmost outposts. Don't expect a
sunbave, however, because the average temperature in Bolshevik is about three degrees all year round.
However, an Arctic town in Russia hit 100 degrees recently, the high,
highest temperature ever recorded there. And here's something else you might not know. In Fairbanks,
Alaska, they celebrate the solstice with America's favorite pastime. Every year, the Alaskan
gold panner is the world's northernmost baseball team. Get together for the Midnight Sun game,
a tradition going back 115 years. Back after this. You know me,
