Bill O'Reilly here Thursday, June 23rd, 2022.
You are listening to the O'Reilly Update.
Here's what's happening across our nation.
President Biden asked Congress to suspend the gas tax.
Polls show Governor DeSantis beating Donald Trump in New Hampshire.
Doctors warn of dark-aged diseases in downtown Los Angeles.
Most Americans think college is a colossal waste of money.
Also ahead, why Mr. Biden is making so many mistakes. But first, the president asking Congress
to pause the nation's tax on fuel for the next three months. But economists say the tax break
will not do much for drivers. The federal government currently charges 18 cents a gallon.
Barack Obama back in 2008 called the gas tax pause a gimmick, quote, saving
people 30 cents is not real relief. It's a gimmick that's not tackling the real problem, unquote,
from Barack Obama. And that's true if you think about it. Poll from the University of New Hampshire
says Ronda Santis is favored over Donald Trump in the Granite State. 39% of Republicans
back the Florida governor, 37% Donald Trump. 9% prefer Mike Pence in that poll. New Hampshire will
hold of first Republican primary January 30th, 2004. Joe Biden carried the state by seven points in
2020. Doctors in California warning residents to avoid rats. The booming rodent population near
homeless camps could resurrect diseases from the middle ages like the black plague. Health officials
in L.A. say medieval-style conditions at the tent cities are the perfect breeding ground for infectious
disease. 70,000 people sleep on the streets of Los Angeles every night. Survey by TD Bank
finds half of young Americans consider college unnecessary. Millions of teenagers across the USA
now consider alternatives to a standard four-year degree. Biggest factor for the decline in higher
learning, the cost. The typical student graduates from college with $30,000 in debt. Folks,
with advanced degrees owe 100,000 on average, 75% of Americans under the age of 30 want all student
debt canceled, which of course means other people would have to pay it. In a moment, why is President
Biden making so many big mistakes? Right back. Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress.
National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day, President Biden's unforced errors.
Here are the facts.
During his first week in the White House, Mr. Biden suspended all new oil and natural gas leases
on federal land.
He then committed to rejoining the Paris Climate Accord and canceled consular.
of the XL pipeline, which would have carried Canadian crude to Louisiana.
On President Trump's last day in office, January 19, 2021, the price for a gallon of gas was $2.30.
So, Biden has more than doubled the price of gas.
the day before Putin invaded Ukraine, gas was already up to $3.53. So that's a $1.23 jump in the price of gallon gas
without any invasion of Ukraine. The inflation rate during Donald Trump's last month, 1.4%. Inflation rate today, 8.6,
not counting shrinkflation, where you get less for what you buy in the grocery store.
If you add in that, inflation's 11%.
Let's go down to the border.
On his first day in the Oval Office, Joe Biden suspended Donald Trump's remain in Mexico policy.
The Department of Homeland Security paused deportations of illegal immigrants.
On September 24, 2021, Joe Biden said,
border agents who allegedly whipped Haitian migrants will, quote, pay for their crimes.
But they did not pay because the agents never whipped anyone as all the evidence demonstrated.
During Donald Trump's last month in office, illegal border crossings stood at 40,000, 40,000 last month, Donald Trump's term.
May 2022, 240,000 illegal border crossings, an increase of 500% on Joe Biden's watch.
According to the federal government, illegal immigration costs the U.S. taxpayers about $200 billion every year.
How about drugs? Entering the United States, let's compare 2,000.
Trump versus 2021, Biden.
The percentage jump under Biden.
Heroin, up 5%.
Marijuana, up 10%.
Meth, 35% bigger.
Cocaine, 67% up.
Fentanyl, the killer drug, up 450%.
Under Biden as compared to Trump.
So, let's go to violent crime.
Under Joe Biden, since he took office, aggravated assault across the country, up 12%, manslaughter
up 30%, property crime, 8%, murder, 30%, shootings up 20% in America's largest cities.
So based on the facts, President Biden has been a certified disaster.

33 years ago today, thousands of theaters across the country opened at midnight,
to show the most anticipated film of the year.
The movie would grow half a billion dollars and change Hollywood forever.
The 1989 blockbuster Batman had arrived.
Here is the story.
The Cape Crusader made his debut in D.C. comic books back in 1939.
The creators of Batman then came up with the name Bruce Wayne
by combining two historical figures, Scottish leader Robert the Bruce,
an American Revolutionary War General Anthony Wayne.
Batman was an immediate smash with the kids.
Over the years, illustrators refined the iconic character.
His famous utility belt added in 1940, the Batmobile in 41, the Batcave,
in 47.
In 1966, the Batman TV series debuted on ABC.
That show, Spanned three seasons, consisted of 120 episodes.
it was largely satire. The Dark Night took a backseat, sorry about the cliche, to Superman during the
1970s. All that changed on June 23rd, 1989. The movie starring Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack
Nicholson as the villain quickly became the highest grossing movie of the year. Since then,
some of Hollywood's biggest actors have worn the bat suit, Val Kilmer, George Clooney,
Christian Bail, Ben Affleck, and most recently Robert Pattinson. Others have taken the role
as Batman's nemesis, Jim Carrey, Tommy Lee Jones, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Neeson,
Liam Neeson, Danny DeVito, Heath Ledger, and others. In total, Batman has generated
$10 billion over eight decades at the box office. The franchise includes 15 major films,
seven live action TV shows, 10 animated series, four radio programs, hundreds of comics,
25 novels, 30 video games, 15 theme park rides. Wow. And here's something else you might not know.
Super fans of Batman have college courses if they want to take them. At Canada's University of
Victoria, the class is the science of Batman. Take that.
Superman. Now this.
