Bill O'Reilly here. Thursday, June 9th, 2022. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Here's what's
happening across our nation. President Biden's approval rating drops again. The January 6th committee
begins primetime hearings. Companies shrink products to disguise inflation. Another migrant
caravan heading to the USA. Also, I had the state of
fatherhood in America. But first, the president's approval rating falling to record lows,
according to a real, clear politics polling average. Just 39 percent. Now back, Joe Biden's job
performance. 55 percent disapprove. A survey from Quinnipe Act finds, Mr. Biden's support dropping to
35 percent, almost unheard of. Less than a quarter of independent voters think the president is doing a
a job. And according to voters, the biggest threat facing the nation, high prices for just about
everything. Democrats probing the January 6th Capitol riot will conduct public hearings this
evening on primetime television. The committee goes live at 8 p.m. Eastern, followed by a second session
Monday. In total, the panel of nine lawmakers, all anti-Trump people have interviewed 1,000 people
connected to the riot. The event will be broadcast on all the networks and MSNBC and CNN.
Again, those vehicles despise Donald Trump. Fox News Channel will not air the hearings, but Fox business
will. Shrinkflation returning to grocery stores. More companies now reducing product sizes
to disguise the high costs. Kleenex slashing the number of tissues per package by eight
Yogurt containers down 15%. Chocolate bars, 10% smaller. Fulgers coffee, shrinking the can by 16%.
Even Gatorade ditching their 32-ounce bottle for 28 ounces. But the prices are not falling, obviously.
As a caravan of migrants making its way towards the USA, the group is perhaps 9,000. Nobody really knows.
and they're marching up from Guatemala, the 1,300-mile journey to the USA is considered one of
the most dangerous in the world. Leaders from the Western Hemisphere are currently huddled
at an international summit in Los Angeles. Mexican President Obrador, who could have stopped
the caravan, did not show up, thereby insulting President Biden, who asked him to.
This is a mess. In a moment, fathers under fire.
Right back.
Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day. Father's Day is a week from Sunday,
and many of our social problems in America can be traced to lack of fathers in
the home. Not going to hear that reported very much, but it is absolutely true. First, the stats.
75% of all U.S. households with children do have a father in the home. 70% have two parents,
5% father only. That figure falls to just 30% in African American households. That is shocking.
40% of all children in the USA are now born outside of marriage. That stat is 29% for whites,
53% Hispanics, 71% for blacks. Again, that is out of wedlock births. 30% of all American children
live in a single-parent home. That is up 300% from 1965. And 85% percent,
of children in those single-parent households live with the mother only.
Facts about single-mother homes.
24% a quarter live beneath the poverty line.
29% of the moms are jobless.
62% receive food stamps.
11% are on full welfare.
27% are unable to provide three meals a day for their
children. 13% have no health insurance. Now, this is a catastrophe, but the media totally ignores
it. The politicians don't do much, even though we are limited on what we can do with personal
interactions like marriage and childbearing. Can't pass laws in that area. But it is beyond
dispute that two responsible parents in the home is imperative for healthy children. There are
exceptions, of course, but two parents is the rock upon which you build a stable society.
So again, how often do you hear what I just said in the media? This country has largely
discarded the traditional family in the name of inclusion. Instead of encouraging fathers, for
example, to sacrifice for their children, many, particularly on TV, in the movies, that kind of
thing, recordings, many celebrate the opposite. If you abandon your child, you are not
stigmatized anymore in America.
Back when I was growing up, if a father split from the home,
that man could not show his face.
One week from Sunday is Father's Day.
So this year, let's celebrate the good dads.
Maybe the network news could run a series on excellent fathers.
I'm not holding my breath.

might not know. On this day in the year 68 AD, way back there, the most famous person in the world
committed suicide. His death ended more than a decade of decadence, debauchery, and murderous
cruelty. The Roman emperor Nero was dead. Here is the story. At age 13, Nero was adopted by his
great uncle, the reigning emperor Claudius. Then Nero was named successor to the throne.
He assumed power just four years later at age 17. The teenager immediately began his reign of
terror. He had his mother assassinated for allegedly plotting against him. Nero then ordered the
murder of his sister. She was bound and suffocated in a steam bath. He beat his pregnant wife to
death in a fit of rage. Soon after, under threat of execution, his favorite male servant was
castrated, then forced to marry Nero as a woman. I mean, this guy.
was over the top. Emperor Niro spent a fortune building an ornate palace, only to have it
burned down along with the rest of Rome. The inferno lasted more than a week. Nero watched
the destruction indifferently from a nearby hilltop, thus the phrase Nero fiddled while Rome
burned. He blamed the fire on Rome's growing Christian community and then had hundreds of Christians
executed. Many were torn apart by dogs or burned.
to lie. The violence was so shocking. Many believed Nero to be the Antichrist. By 68 AD,
uprisings were breaking out all across the Roman Empire. After years of mismanagement,
erratic behavior, and general craziness, Roman politicians sought to remove Nero, and he fled
the capital. With word of his enemies closing in, he instructed his personal secretary to stab
him in the chest, Emperor Nero dead at the age of 30. And here's something else you might not know.
The expression Nero fiddled while Rome burned is not accurate. The instrument was not invented the
fiddle for another 800 years. Eyewitnesses claimed that sadistic Nero was drinking wine and singing
as Rome burned to the ground. Back after this.
