Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Thank you, Bill. It is Monday, June 9th, 2025. Here's happening today in America. Troops to L.A.
Newsom's tax evasion threat. Reporter suspended and Orwell vindicated. That's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day of the first. Donald Trump has deployed 2,000 National Guardsmen to Los Angeles. This after, ICE engaged in two raids.
at a building in the Garment District in L.A., which happens to be a place where back in 2021,
the owner was sentenced to prison for customs violations, tax fraud, and money laundering,
and another ICE operation at a Home Depot.
As these raids were going on, word spread, more protesters and soon rioters made to the streets.
Now, more and more protesters taken over the streets, literally taking over the 101 freeway.
The president said, if Governor Gavin Newscombe of California and Mayor Karen Bass of L.A. can't do their jobs,
which everyone knows they can't,
then the federal government will step in and solve the problem,
riots and looters, the way it should be solved.
Trump said to the national media in person,
he said, we're going to have troops everywhere.
We are not going to let this happen to our country.
Gavin Newsom, who has formally requested the Trump administration,
rescind their unlawful deployment of troops in L.A. County
and returned them to my command.
By the way, ICE released a list of people they arrested this weekend,
like in the raids, like the purpose of the rates.
One was a citizen of Peru.
convicted robbery in a 10-year prison sentence.
Someone was from Indonesia previously arrested for narcotics.
A citizen of Honduras, arrested for cocaine and domestic violence.
A guy from the Philippines arrested for second-degree murder.
All these guys back on the streets.
Another guy from the Philippines was previously arrested for burglary and rape.
These are the guys that ICE got off the streets.
This is what other people in L.A. are upset about.
Anyway, Gavin Newsom said that California pays $80 billion more in taxes to the feds and they get back.
maybe it's time to cut that off while the secretary of the treasury wrote that Gavin Newsom
is threatening to commit criminal tax evasion and his comments are extremely reckless.
ABC News has suspended Terry Moran, their senior national correspondent, after a post he made on
X. This is the guy who did the Trump 100 days interview from the Oval Office.
He wrote on X, the thing about Stephen Miller is not that he's the brains behind Trumpism.
It's not the brains, it's the bile.
Miller is a man who's richly endowed with the capacity for.
for hatred. He's a world-class
hater. The 75th anniversary of
George Orwell's 1984 has been released
and one of the introduction essays by
Dolan Perkins Valdez
issues a trigger warning
for anyone who may read the book
that the protagonist is problematic

Time now for the O'Reilly Update, message of the day.
On this Monday, one of the very interesting things that happened to me in Beijing recently
was the radical communist Politburo asking me why the city of San Francisco has fallen apart.
So you might ask, why do they care?
well, many Chinese nationals have relatives living in San Francisco.
Now, the reason that city has deteriorated is willful ignorance.
You've heard that expression.
So you can't even have children walk to streets without them seeing gross conduct by adults.
And the city fathers, the police, don't stop that conduct.
Now, there are many reasons for willful,
ignorance, laziness, apathy, narcissism, never admitting you make a mistake, crazy ideology,
which is in play in San Francisco. So the Chinese can't understand any of that. If you have a
problem, you confront the problem. You don't let a major city like San Francisco dissolve into chaos,
and that is exactly what has happened.
I had no answer for the communists. I just said, I'm lucky I don't live there, and then I threw in a
dig because we can live anywhere we want in the USA. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by
writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town
if you wish to opine. Now let's go to the mail. Keith McNeill, East Jordan, Michigan. I have to point
out that on the Nusman News of 6.4. 2025, that would be yesterday. You were saying that China
should help rain in Iran's nuclear ambitions. I remind you that China did nothing to stop
North Korea's nuclear program. China benefits from rogue regimes being belligerent toward the
USA. That is true. But if they want to deal with us, they've got to help us in these areas.
That's it. Deal goes both ways. John Mattson, Hewitt.
Texas, current governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, vetoed a bill, which would prevent Chinese
from purchasing U.S. land near U.S. military facilities. An investigation by your cracked
staff is appreciated. What? What investigation? Hobbs is a bad governor. She's going to lose.
I think Karen Robeson's going to win. She vetoed the bill, which she shouldn't have vetoed.
more is there? You know? And a lot of the times, Chinese byland through American shell corporations.
But you got to keep an eye on it. That's what Homeland Security is there for.
Shelly. I don't understand a law and must point of view, and it bothers me that he's attacking President
Trump. Can you shed any lie on why he did it? No. Now, I, but I told you that this wasn't going to end
well, Trump and Musk. I mean, two very powerful guys. And, you know, so now they're yelling at each
other about stuff. And do I care? No. I don't care at all. If Elon Musk is an American
citizen doesn't like the tax bill, okay, it's entitled to his opinion. How do I care?
Congress people will pass it. We're not. In a moment, something you might not know.
Power, politics and the people behind the headlines. I'm Miranda Devine, New York Post columnist
and the host of the brand new podcast, Podforce One. Every week I'll sit down for candid conversations
with Washington's most powerful disruptors, lawmakers, newsmakers, and even the president of
the United States. These are the leaders shaping the future of America and the world.
Listen to Podforce One with me, Miranda Devine, every week on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever
you get your podcast. You don't want to miss an episode.
Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. It has been a dismal
decade for America's network news operations. Since
It's 2015. Ratings at ABC, CBFs, and NBC have dropped double digits. Even iconic broadcasts like 60 minutes are down. 60 lost 15% of its viewers in the last five years and its battle with Donald Trump will cost them even more eyeballs. According to Pew Research, employment at the network news outlets is down 25%. More than 27,000 jobs have left the industry.
Last year, the entire media business consisted of 90,000 full-time employees at newspapers,
TV networks, or online agencies across the country.
Situation is even worse at the cable operations.
CNN's ratings have dropped 25 percent since Donald Trump's first term.
So why are Americans tuning out?
Well, many of them simply don't trust what they see.
polls find half the population think the media is biased and it is. 60% of young adults
blame so-called fake news for their mistrust. Now the networks are facing a new challenge,
lawsuits from the White House. In December 2024, ABC News agreed to pay Donald Trump
$15 million after George Stepanopoulos of GM.
inaccurately asserted that President-elect Trump was found guilty of rape.
He was not.
Trump is currently suing CBS News for $20 billion.
The president's lawyers assert that Kamala Harris was given favorable treatment by 60 minutes,
and that was election interference.
The White House has filed similar lawsuits against the Washington Post, New York Times, CNN,
Facebook. And here's something else you might not know. For the first time in half a century,
most Americans are no longer getting their news from television. 60% of the population now receives
daily information from streaming and social media. For folks under 30, that figure rises to 80%.
Back after this.
