Bill O'Reilly here, Tuesday, March 1st, 2022.
You are listening to the O'Reilly update.
Here's what's happening across our nation.
President Biden prepares his state of the union address.
Latest polls rank the popularity of American politicians.
Ukraine releases prisoners to fight Russia.
Mardi Gras returning to New Orleans.
Also, I had the real state of the union.
But first, President Biden will address the American public tonight amid multiple crises.
According to latest surveys, biggest challenges facing the USA include inflation, COVID, illegal immigration, and, of course, Russia.
The speech typically lasts about 75 minutes.
A third of that is spent on applause.
George Washington delivered the nation's
first state of the union in 1790. His entire speech clocked in at nine minutes. More on Mr. Biden's
big night in a moment. Real clear politics listing the favorability ratings for American leaders.
According to an average of national polling, 43% of the country likes Donald Trump right now,
followed by Joe Biden with 42%. Kamala Harris, 37%.
Nancy Pelosi, 35, Chuck Schumer, 30.
The most unfavorable figure goes to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
60% of Americans don't like Mitch at all.
The Ukrainian president releasing criminals from a prison to fight Russian invaders.
Said Mr. Zelensky, a quote,
Ukrainians with real combat experience will be released from custody and will be able to compensate
for their guilt in the most dangerous spots. All sanctions against some prisoners who participate
will be lifted. The most important thing now is defense, unquote. Ukraine says it has killed
5,000 Russian soldiers since the fighting began six days ago. Mardi Gras, returning to the Big Easy for the
first time in two years. New Orleans shutting down the festivities when COVID hit in early
2020. Two million tourists are expected to descend on the bayou to mark Fat Tuesday, which is
today. In total, revelers will consume 15 million gallons of booze, 20 million pounds of seafood,
and chuck five million Mardi Gras beads into the street. In a moment,
The state of the 50 states, right back with that.
Let's face it, the U.S. economy is under stress.
National debt rising, trade war, shaking the markets.
And meanwhile, China is dumping the dollar and stockpiling gold.

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day. Most presidents dish out a healthy dose of
propaganda during the annual State of the Union address, and tonight should be no exception.
Why? Because President Biden is in trouble. His policies are not working after.
after 13 months, generally speaking. COVID is not his fault, even though he did pledge to defeat
it. He could not. Amacron won, at least for a while. Inflation up nearly 8% compared to January
2021. Producer index, up 10%. Gas prices, up 40%. So American consumers are not happy.
Border chaos. Arrest during Donald Trump's final year in office, 400,000. Arrest during Joe Biden's
first year in office, 1.9 million. Quite a difference, eh? Drug deaths. More than 100,000 Americans
overdosed and died in 2021, the most in history. Fentanyl seizures at the border right now,
up 400% in 12 months because the southern border is essentially open thanks to President Biden.
He will not enforce U.S. immigration law.
Violent crime.
Homicides in the USA up 44% compared to 2019.
Twelve of America's biggest cities broke murder records last year.
Why? Because of the progressive assault on the police. Defund the police. What has Joe Biden said about that? Nothing. Foreign policy. Iran is again pursuing nuclear weapons. North Korea again testing missiles. Russia, of course, invaded Ukraine. China is eyeing Taiwan. The Taliban rules Afghanistan. Not good.
So, tonight, will President Biden try to put a happy face on this?
The best speechwriter in the world could not do that.
So the betting here is that the president will open with Russia, Ukraine, and he will tell
the world how he, Joe Biden, is rallying everyone against Putin.
He'll say he's in charge.
He'll say the sanctions are working.
he'll say more sanctions are to come.
To some extent, that's true.
But part of the Russian problem is that Biden attacked the U.S. fossil fuel industry making America weaker and other countries more dependent on Putin's oil.
You're not going to hear that tonight.
So let's sum up.
I don't blame Joe Biden for trying to put a positive spin on what's happening in this country.
Again, all presidents do that.
But Mr. Biden's approval rating is now below 40%.
The folks know he is not doing a good job.
And that's not going to change tonight, no matter what he says.

brings you something you might not know.
Eight years ago today,
Russian soldiers mobilized
along the country's border
with southern Ukraine.
Officials in Kiev
ordered the nation's troops on
alert. Two weeks later, Crimea, a part of Ukraine, would be controlled by Moscow. That's how Vladimir
Putin's current war on Ukraine really began eight years ago. Now, the collapse of communism in
1991 led to the Kremlin really weakening across the world. However, Putin wants to replace
what the Soviet Union had. He wants to control the countries that broke free after the collapse of
communism. Even though it is now a sovereign state, Putin doesn't see it that way, so Russia
violated international law by invading. In early 2014, Russian troops began entering a southern
section of Ukraine. You'll remember, Crimea. At the time, Putin claimed,
military militias were perpetuating an ethnic genocide against Russians, which was total bull.
The Russian parliament did grant Vlad military powers to go into Crimea. Then President Barack Obama
directly warned Putin against doing that, but Putin did it anyway. And President Obama
levied a few sanctions, but nothing much. So Putin got away with it. And that's why what is
happening now is occurring. President Barack Obama did not rally NATO or the world to punish Putin
for invading Crimea, so Putin thought he could get away with the whole country. And here's
something else you might not know. At that time, eight years ago, Putin publicly mocked the
Western sanctions imposed by NATO and Obama. During a signing ceremony admitting Crimea as part of Russia,
Putin joked with members of the press saying he doesn't have any bank accounts in Europe anyway.
Well, this time it's different.
The financial damage caused by Putin's reckless invasion will destroy Russia's economy.
Will it be enough to stop bad Vlad?
We'll find out.
Back after this.
