By San Pellegrino Chau now. Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater.
Starting point is 00:00:36 Thank you, Bill. It is Wednesday, March 12th, 2025. Here's what's happening today in America. Ukraine agrees to a ceasefire. CR passed. Canada threatens America. And the final mission is underway. It's all coming up. Then Bill's going to be here with your message of the day of the first Ukrainian officials. agreed to a U.S. brokered ceasefire while the Ukrainian and American officials were meeting in Saudi Arabia. This agreement would halt hostilities with Russia for 30 days.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Our secretary of state, Marco Rubio, said, quote, the ball is now in Moscow's court. This announcement comes after Ukraine launched a massive drone attack against Russia. The UN estimates between 100 and 250,000 people have been killed since fighting began in February 2022. Isn't that amazing?
Starting point is 00:01:22 We don't even know within hundreds of thousands of people, how many people died in this war? Outside of the White House, Trump said a little while ago, Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire. Now we have to go to Russia. And hopefully President Putin will agree to that also, and we can get this show on the road. We reported the other day that Trump wrote on Truth Social, all Republicans should vote yes on the continuing resolution next week. Well, all the Republicans voted yes on the continuing resolution yesterday, except for Thomas Massey from Kentucky. He's the one Republican who voted no, but one Democrat voted for it.
Starting point is 00:01:56 This will fund the government at current levels until the end of September, and the ideas it will give Donald Trump with Elon and all the department heads more time to find all the things they need to cut, and they can present that to the legislative branch by the time the next budget is due. Speaking of cutting funding, and this is a good example of what we're talking about here, the U.S. Department of Education, now led by Linda McMahon, wrote as a part of the department's final mission, The department today initiated a reduction in force, impacting nearly 50% of the department's workforce.
Starting point is 00:02:28 When Donald Trump took over, there were 4,133 federal workers. After this reduction in force, it will be 2,183. So half of their workforce will be gone. But in the meantime, the department will still engage in all the programs they currently have, student loans, Pell Grants, special needs funding, etc. So we're not all the way done with it quite yet. The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, threatened to charge a member. Americans, a 25% tariff on electricity generated in Canada.
Starting point is 00:02:56 His comments come as Trump vowed to impose more penalties on steel and aluminum up to a 50% tariff. Ford said, quote, let me be clear, I will not hesitate to increase this charge. If necessary, if the United States escalates, I will not hesitate to shut the electricity off completely. Believe me, when I say, I do not want to do this. Who do you think has the upper hand in this trade war? I'm Mike Slater from the podcast.

On Monday, I talk with him about our very dangerous world, and here are the highlights. He believes there will be a ceasefire in Ukraine. and concurs that President Trump cannot insult Putin if that is to happen.
Starting point is 00:04:28 The Secretary sees Xi in China as more dangerous than Putin, but does not foresee Beijing invading Taiwan. However, the Chinese communists want to dominate the world, though that situation is a big negative going forward. Mr. Pompeo believes President Biden's weakness directly led to trouble all across the globe, including Hamas' invasion of Israel. Mr. Biden's detachment from reality was well known inside foreign intelligence agencies. Mike Pompeo used to be the CIA chief in addition to Secretary of State. Mr. Pompeo is ready to return to the Trump administration. That part of the interview was interesting, but I'd like you to hear it for yourself.
Starting point is 00:05:29 No doubt, Pompeo is a patriot and a skilled foreign policy analyst. The entire interview is available on bill o'Reilly.com. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Bill at Bill O'Reilly.com. Name in town if you wish to opine. Here's a male Roy, concierge member, Roy.

I'd like to see a little more restraint on the part of Mr. Musk. Robert, I wouldn't worry about the stock market. It takes a while for the economy turned around.
Starting point is 00:06:16 from the mess that it was. It wasn't a mess. It was inflation that was the mess. The economy was okay under Biden. Let's be honest. Process is just beginning. It'll show improvement in a year. Trump doesn't have a year.
Starting point is 00:06:33 If the economy is bad this time next year, midterms. Homer, concierge, remember Homer. With the amount of chaos, one gets the impression that Trump and his cabinet, don't seem to know what they're doing. Trump needs a calm fears. They know what they're doing, but it's hard. Okay?
Starting point is 00:06:55 But I'm hoping this Ukraine thing ignites the series of victories. Robert Podhorn, Wentzville, Missouri. I'm a longtime follower of yours, Mr. O'Reilly. Starting point is 00:07:15 Tanya Brown, New Market, Tennessee, Trump didn't choose Pompeo because he took several swipes at Trump on January 6th, over January 6th. That's true. I think that's what did it, Tanya. I believe that is what did it. Mary, concierge member, a lot of concierge members around. No one is even looking for President Biden. Now, the O'Reilly update brings you something you might, not know. 87 years ago today, Germany annexed the nation of Austria into its territory. That decision was a blatant violation of the Treaty of Versailles and a precursor to World War II.
Starting point is 00:08:46 Here is the story. During the Middle Ages, the Germanic peoples are divided into different principalities. In the early 20th century, Central Europe was dominated by the nation of Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. After their defeat in World War I, the two countries were forbidden
Starting point is 00:09:08 from forming a future alliance. Enter Adolf Hitler. He was in Austrian, who seized power in Germany in 1933. The Nazi party soared. Fascists began publishing unification pamphlets, stating, ein Volk, an Reich, ein fehrer, one race, one empire, one leader. On March 11, 1938, the Nazis took control of Vienna. The next day, Hitler's forces crossed the border.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Thousands of Austrians lined the roads and bridges welcoming the invaders. No shots fired. The act was called Anschluss, meaning connection. On March 13th, Austria officially became part of the Third Reich. A rig referendum was held. Ninety-nine percent of Austria allegedly supported the annexation. were soon conscripted into the German armed forces, fighting on various fronts, including the invasion of Poland, the Battle of France, the Russian Front, and later the defense of Berlin.
Starting point is 00:10:22 Some citizens became members of the Austrian SS committing war crimes in occupied countries. The Nazis controlled Austria until April 1945, when the Soviets seized Vienna. The independent nation was finally restored. 10 years later, 1955. And here's something else you might not know. Today, Austria has a zero-tolerance policy towards all images associated with the Nazis. Displaying a swat sticker or Hitler's portrait
