Bill O'Reilly here Monday. March 16th, 2020. You are listening to the O'Reilly update. Here's what's
happening today in America. Panic gripping the USA over the contagion. President Trump tests negative.
At least 36 states in New York City closed schools. Multiple states shutter bars and restaurants.
Americans flee Europe. Hollywood prepared.
for a major financial hit.
Also, I had politics and the virus.
But first, plenty to report to you.
White House doctors confirming President Trump
does not have the coronavirus.
Mr. Trump taking the test after meeting
at least two people in Florida
who contracted the disease.
The administration now requiring
daily temperature checks for anyone
in close contact with the president,
vice president, or the cabinet.
New York City, shutting down the largest school district in the USA. Mayor Bill de Blasio resisted,
but the teachers rebelled against him. New York Governor Cuomo says the state will provide
free child care for first responders, doctors, and other essential personnel. Many areas all over
the country are ordering bars and restaurants to close for dine-in.
customers. The move also applies to Starbucks, McDonald's, and other quick service restaurants.
Takeout and delivery are still on the menu for now. Thousands of Americans scrambling to get home
following the European travel ban. Italy now the center of the biggest outbreak outside of Asia,
the nation of 60 million, has at least 25,000 cases and 1,800 deaths from Corona. Spain also,
on lockdown, closing most public places. As you know, all Europeans cannot fly to America
unless they have citizenship here. Hollywood in trouble, weekend box office revenue fell to the
lowest level in 22 years. The financial industry also under stress as folks panic and sell
assets. The Fed cut interest rates over the weekend to zero.
If you have to borrow, do it now.
In a moment, I will analyze what should be done about those who are politicizing the disease.
That's awful, unjustifiable, but it's happening all over the country.
We'll pinpoint it after these announcements.
Recently, the stock market has dropped significantly, as you know, and the coronavirus pandemic has already impacted Americans.
IRAs and 401ks. Experts are forecasting a long-lasting, possible pullback. So now is the logical
time to explore alternatives to protect what you have worked for. Many Americans are moving to
physical gold and silver as a recession-proof safe haven for their retirement. American Hartford

Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day, exploiting the virus.
It is the speed of the contagion that really has folks spooked.
That and the media play-by-play.
There's a virus coming to your house, just like that Stephen King book.
Just three weeks ago, life in America was pretty standard.
Now, everything is shut down and Tom Hanks says Corona.
So what happened? Disease happened. Global travel happened. Worldwide government bureaucracies
initially failed, as they almost always do. We have a list in this country. Al-Qaeda, Katrina,
Maria, Vietnam, Iraq, on and on and on. Now, the committed left is hyping and using the illness
to try to drive President Trump from office.
Here's Trump hater Gail Collins in the New York Times, quote,
let's call it Trump virus.
If you're feeling awful, you know who to blame, unquote.
Really astute analysis from Ms. Collins.
I just don't know how she does it.
More brilliance from Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan.
She puts forth that telling people not to panic, not to panic, as the federal government is doing, is a bad strategy.
Ms. Noonan apparently believes panic is okay.
If you look up the word panic in the dictionary, you'll see this, quote, sudden uncontrollable fear and anxiety, often causing unthinking behavior,
unquote. Could it be that Peggy Noonan wrote her column in a panic? Clear thinking people are right to fear
the coronavirus because it spreads quickly from even casual human contact. It's an airborne
contagion, unlike AIDS or Ebola. That's scary, even if you tend to be brave. We all have a
natural instinct to protect ourselves and loved ones. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
So caution is a good protection. Panic is not. And blaming the virus on President Trump
is stupid and loathsome. No national leader could stop the illness and the USA is
certainly trying to contain the infection despite the political lies.
Of course, mistakes will be made. This is a sudden plague upon the land. Some things will work,
some will not. If politicians and pundits have better ideas, let's hear them. If not,
shut up. President Trump told the nation that we are all in this together, but I don't believe that
at all. Richer folks are better protected than the poor. Country people have a stronger chance
to avoid infection than citizens packed into the cities. We are certainly not together in America.
We are badly divided politically, residentially, and culturally. There will be people who attempt
to exploit the virus for political and or financial gain. They will try to use human suffering
to advance their own interests. I am watching those people, and I will report back to you.
I'm Bill O'Reilly, and I approve that message by actually writing it.

In a moment, something you might not know.
Let's talk about your mortgage.
Are you getting the best deal possible?
What have I told you there's a company out there that can save you $1,000 a month?
Make a 10-minute call to get started.
It's true, but only when you call American financing.
get a free mortgage review from a dedicated mortgage consultant, no pressure, no upfront or hidden

or the ability to consolidate debt. They'll look at all those options and more helping you decide
if a new mortgage is right. You won't have to restart your loan term. Not every lender can do that,
but American financing can. So please make the 10-minute call now, 888-462,

Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. The coronavirus pandemic will likely disrupt our economy and day-to-day lives for the next few months.
closing businesses, schools, even churches. Some local governments are implementing citywide curfews.
It's a terrible situation, obviously. With all the non-stop news coverage on social media and TV,
it's easy to forget, we battled a similar pandemic just 10 years ago, H1N1. Remember that?
Better known as swine flu. The outbreak lasted from early 2009 to late 2000.
10. Doctors believe 11 to 21% of the entire global population contracted the disease. Approximately
900 million cases worldwide. The illness would ultimately kill anywhere between 300,000 and a half
million people. Researchers at the World Health Organization believe the outbreak began in Veracruz,
Mexico before moving to California and Texas. Like the coronavirus, H1N1 mostly affects adults over the
age of 65. Like Donald Trump, then President Barack Obama faced criticism for a lack of test kits,
but the public mostly approved of his response eventually. The H1N1 caused 61 million infections
in the USA alone, requiring 270,000 hospitalizations and causing 13,000 deaths. In October 2009,
the feds approved the use of the swine flu vaccine. By December 2010, the drug was widely available.
The World Health Organization declared this swine flu post-pandemic. Eight months later, the vaccine
killed it, and that may very well happen with corona, which is really a super flu. Did you know that
more than 36,000 Americans die each year from influenza? It's easy to panic.
with all the focus on the coronavirus, but it is very important to have perspective.
The leading cause of death in the USA is heart disease, killing 700,000 citizens in 2019,
followed by cancer at a half million.
While the stats will sadly go up, to date the coronavirus has killed fewer than 100 people in America.
So stay strong.
back after this.
There are thousands of abandoned animals in the USA that need our help.
