The president's picked to join the Supreme Court taking questions from Democrats and Republicans during a five-hour session. Starting point is 00:03:50 Again, that's 866-326-5576 or text bill to 998899. Time now for the O'Reilly Update. Message of the Day. Will China hurt us distinct possibility? So let's take a hard look at it. China has rapidly modernized and militarized since the Communist Revolution of 1949. It now has the second largest economy behind the USA in the world. Population 1.4 billion Chinese. America has 330 million. about the China military. Annual budget, $230 billion, USA, $782 billion, so we far outspend the Chinese. Two million active duty Chinese service members, America, 1.3 million, so they outnumber us. Another 2 million reservists, USA 800,000. Nuclear arsenal, China has 300 warheads,
Starting point is 00:04:59 USA, 4,000 warheads. Chinese acts of aggression. 1951, it took over Tibet, an independent country, still rules. 1997, China marched into Hong Kong, and there are no freedoms any longer there. Is Taiwan next? about President Xi Jinping. Well, he was born in 1953, 69 years old. His father was a big shot under Chairman Mao.
Starting point is 00:05:37 That means his father was a killer. And he himself is a dedicated communist. So what exactly is the threat from China? Well, it wants to pass the USA as the most powerful country in the world. there's no question about that. Like Japan in the 1930s before World War II, China seeks to dominate Asia first. She is partnered up with the villain Putin, as you may know, and the communists do not respect freedom or basic human rights.
Starting point is 00:06:17 It is a totalitarian government. They will kill you. There is no due process. There are concentration camps. So doing the math, China is a definite problem. Now, back to Richard Nixon's time, the U.S. government said, if we can do economic trading with China, the threat will be diminished. and Donald Trump thought that as well. The more business China does with the USA, the better because China has to feed 1.5 billion people. There is some truth to that. Being bellicose, word of the day, toward the communist government in Beijing, is not really a good strategy.
Starting point is 00:07:15 However, you have to show those people that we are not going to allow. them to run wild in the world taking over independent countries like Taiwan. China is an export economy. That means it depends on selling its stuff in other countries, so we have an advantage there to try to keep the peace. All in all, tough situation over there. Now the O'Reilly Update brings you something you might not know. 400 years ago today, a long time ago, a band of Native American tribes launched a surprise attack against British colonists in Virginia, the first people to come here from Europe. Within hours, hundreds of English settlers were brutally murdered. Here is the story of the Jamestown Massacre. After establishing the British outposts in 1607, the colonists quickly expanded Jamestown
Starting point is 00:09:17 to grow lucrative crops, mainly tobacco. The English forced many local Indian tribes to sell unused land to them for agriculture. So the once-friendly relationship between the Europeans and Native Americans quickly grew acrimonious. Ultimately, tribal leaders viewed the English settlement in Jamestown as a threat. they then planned a preemptive strike. In the early spring of 1622, Indians arrived in Jamestown with gifts of meat and fruit. Their actual mission was to secretly gather intelligence about the town's defense. On the morning of March 22nd, the natives walked freely through the streets of Jamestown. But at dawn, they grabbed weapons smuggled into the outposts and began the assault. The Indians attacked men, women, and children while they were sleeping. By noon, 350 colonists were dead, a third of the entire English population in Virginia. News of the Jamestown Massacre did not reach England until mid-June.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Instead of a rapid retreat, the British Crown reinforced the colonists with soldiers, weapons, and supplies. The event caused two decades of armed conflict. between the settlers and Native Americans in the sound. And here's something else you might not know. The Jamestown Massacre sparked a massive influx of English immigration to North America. To protect Virginia, London dispatched dozens of ships every month. Just 70 years after the attack, the British population in the Commonwealth swelled from 1,000 to 100,000.
Starting point is 00:11:15 back after this. Hey, it's Sean Spicer from the Sean Spicer Show podcast, reminding you to turn into my show every day to get your daily dose inside the world of politics.
